I agree that the progress from the debut album is clear and in the right direction! Having said that, I still think the tracks are somewhat held back by pretty static and simple rhythm section (bass + drums) while some of the non-acid melodies are IMO just plain annoying: repetitive, off-tune, often to fast and chaotic; even if markedly improved over the debut (e.g. Let's Goof). I also miss some key changes in there, that'd add more "drama" to the arrangements and contribute to better storytelling. The acid lines are obviously top notch, varied and tonally diversified which is great for such acid-focused release but - surprisingly - despite this it's pretty flat in terms of carried energy, i.e. the peaks & valleys (so to speak) are not sufficiently distinguished. Still, I'm glad I bought it & am looking forward to further developments! 3/5 (or 4/7 in Mr. Anarchy's scale)

Actually it would make sense for you to make some kind of thread with a multiple-choice poll, so people could vote for releases they'd be interested in, which would be a good primer for gauging the actual demand for specific titles -
Love this one recently - it's soo smooth, beautiful and unusual for acid music: from this album (preview):

You grumpy gamer! But seriously, there's a lot of stuff for everybody (especially on the Indie scene) just need to know where to look...

What music are you listening to right now?
antic604 replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
It's really nice - I'd label this as happy, bright and funky forest trance a'la Shivattva or Hutti Heyta, but without the darkness. It is tightly produced, energetic and driven by interesting patterns & sounds rather than melodies. A good counter balance after the chaotic, melodic overload of Crossing Mind... Oh, and I the artwork! -

Don't "LOL" me - do something about it now that you have a label. There need to be some unreleased gems from Pete Martin -

. . . . . . . . . That's not THE Slide!!! Still, pretty good music that'd sit well with fans of Wildthings Rec. or Boomshanka Rec. sound: -

Well, more of the same ...which is awesome! Hope the mastering takes care of painfully overexposed high-hats and trebles in general

True, but on the upside you can sketch tracks while standing in a line, commuting, on the beach -

I know exactly what you mean. And having a family (3 kids) + a full-time job doesn't help either. Can't wait till I get retired (or at least the kids move out) and finally have the time for travelling with wife, music-making, reding, watching movies, etc. -

MGSV is a definition of sandbox game (gameplay based on systems), so I don't know what you're talking about... Sure, a game like Uncharted 4 is an equivalent of summer blockbuster movie, but there's nothing wrong with that - there's place for all type of games, just like with movies, music, etc. and everyone have different taste, needs and expectations. For some, the only games worthy of the name are RPGs, but for me I can't dedicate 100+ hours into single game - I prefer short (below 10h) games with a good story OR arcade games, where I can spend 30 minutes just enjoying the gameplay. It's good there's things for everyone.

If you liked Hutti Heita or Shivattva albums, this should be up your alley - forest(y), dark, incredibly precise, tight, groovy and full of energetic patterns. Not much goa or melody there, but it's nevertheless very atmospheric. Recommended!

Wat's the best software to make psytrance?
antic604 replied to CutoffKnob's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I remember some of my better tunes were started when I was at friend's house, drinking beers, watching TV, etc. I guess this is because one doesn't stress himself to "do something" and just has fun, instead of "working" I believe this is also why often collaborations are much better than those artist's individual output. -
Nominal is 120up / 10down, but I've never seen it above 100. Still, it's really more than enough for me

Have you noticed that you best bits happen when you're just fooling around or toying with ideas? This was really something! -
Some clarification, I guess: - X1S is a slimmed down (lower node process) version of original X1 with small upclock to the GPU, possibility to output 4K image (but not capable to render them natively, as X1 struggles with 1080p with most AAA games) with HDR, with the addition of UHD Bluray drive - in terms of games this is a regular X1, so it's obvious there won't be any X1S exclusives, because - with the exclusion of HDR - they're exactly the same machines, - Xbox Scorpio is a 4-5x stronger machine slated to be released by the end of 2017, which - to my understanding of Microsoft's plans - is basically a (by then) mid-range PC in a console box, tailored to play their Universal Window Platform (DX12 under Win10) games; in other words, Microsoft is going for the future where "Xbox" is a gaming platform / environment - just like Valve's Steam, EA's Origin or Ubisoft's Uplay - that you access via Windows Store or Xbox console and you can play the games using a range of devices: PC, one of Microsoft's consoles, maybe even Surface tablets - Scorpio for the demanding clients, Xbox One (S) for the masses that don't care as much for graphics, frame rates, etc. In that sense there won't be strict exclusives for Scorpio either, because it is a part of the Xbox family and games need to / should work on all members of the family (PCs, Scorpio, X1(S), maybe Surface) just to a varying degree of quality; now in 2-3 years X1(S) will probably by already too weak to play new games or they'd have to be severely compromised to function, so it will be gradually "phased out" and Scorpio will replace it as a (by then) low-end machine and new mid-range box will be introduced, while PC will remain the best option for high-end users.
