Well, this is a bit premature because I couldn't find a lot info about it other than that it's supposed to be released by Trick Music in late 2016... I found two preview tracks posted by Ady Connor (one yesterday, one a year ago) labelled as "techno" and they sound - IMO - really good: tight, punchy grooves with repetitive techno-ish motiffs and subtle progression, but with that unmistakeable Scorb / Deviant Species sound. After being slightly disappointed with their recent Squid Inc. "Indelible" I'm more careful and realistic with my expectations, but am looking forward to this nevertheless Will update this when I know more.

Damn Thanks.

Could you post the entire track? Not much is changing over the course of those 1:21 and it's not very specific but maybe some other segments - breaks, intro/outro, main riff - will give more hints as to who that is. To me this sounds like something from Japan - Prana, Kuro, Ubar Tmar etc.

Yes, I know that. Question is - can I hear that music somewhere & buy it? I'm pretty sure I'll like it no matter the style.

Imba - First Encounter [Suntrip Rec.]

Here we go again... On the flip side, this time it actually sounds like you've enjoyed it whereas for Artha's album your complements felt forced. Looking forward to this, whenever it comes out -
Crossing Mind - Beyond Duality (SUNCD42)
antic604 replied to Anoebis's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Yes, I'm fully aware that this chaotic style (a lot of old Israeli stuff, early Filteria, Total Eclipse, Muses Rapt) has a lot of advocates; it's just not for me. And your description - "sweet and child-like" - is probably what's putting me off the most. I for example find those small changes of pitch at the tail-ends of some notes to be completely annoying and cheesy, while others may find them as emotional or ecstatic and I can even see that, but that's not what I look for in psychedelic goa trance. Don't take my word for it, as it is clear others find it great (see above). Listen for yourself. -

BTW, need to comment on mastering - those that complained last time about harsh, sharp and piercing sounds should be happy to know they're mostly gone and instead the bass got a bit more prominence in the mix. As a result, the mastering is clearer, more punchy but still retains that trademark "holowness" of Crossing Mind - probably owing to a non-resonant low-pass filter applied to bass and selected mid-range sounds (acid lines, kick & snares), to create more space for melodies? - which I frankly like very much, but it's arguably an acquired taste. Really good work there! -
Infected Mushrooms: Why are they so hated here?
antic604 replied to Void Mantra's topic in General Psytrance
They did and they are, obviously. But at the same time we're allowed to be disappointed that they've not made more of those "good tunes" - some take that disappointment to the extreme and "hate" them, others are just sad -
Indeed! It's incredible how much great music they've been able to release in just 2 years - Nervasystem, Moonweed and UX albums were incredible and the compilations were top-notch, mixing some old - sometimes very obscure - and new stuff, but always very high quality and properly psychedelic. I hope all goes well for them

antic604 replied to Void Mantra's topic in General Psytrance
Yeah, like a lot of people here I don't really *hate* them (they gave us - at least - 3 awesome albums!) but I'm just sad and disappointed in the direction they chose to take their music - they could have produced some more of the wonderful, inventive and psychedelic music, instead they chose to appeal to the masses by incorporating rap, singing and guitars. It's the definition of missed opportunity or a wasted talent. Good for them, bad for (most of) us. -
No, I wasn't aware. But I'm happy to hear that! I've been nothing but pleased with all their releases thus far and as much as I'm sorry for hearing that a lot of people had issues buying stuff from them, I was lucky to have only good experiences.

What happened to Process and Sandman? For a moment there was hope their old unreleased (or maybe even new?) music will be published by Anjuna Rec. but that labels seems to have died after releasing UX' album

Crossing Mind - Beyond Duality (SUNCD42)

Ok, so what's the consensus? Personally, I was very hyped for it - and probably was the 1st one to purchase it over at Bandcamp - but now I'm on the verge of actually erasing the files from my devices, because I'm so disappointed... Some tracks - "Cyclotron" (that bit at 8:10!!!) and "No Hazardous Material Signs" (the wiggly "acid" line at 5:55!!!) in particular - still retain that incredible storytelling and musical sensibility, with well-timed key changes and captivating melodies. But most is messy, sloppy and chaotic with a lot of false sounding or incredibly tacky / cheesy melodies and instruments and no real structure to the songs (e.g. "The Foolish Mind" at 3:20, "Alpha Centauri" at 3:10). They'd usually start great and most of the time the finish is also interesting, but in the middle it's difficult to bare. In his previous albums those chaotic melodies were also there, but usually relegated to the background, while the main focus was drawn to the elongated, less crazy and more carefully constructed melodies spanning and developing for more than 4 bars. It's like reverse Filteria, who went from crazy and ADHD-like melodies in his early work to more though-through and as a result much more impactful melodies in his later creations. I'll keep listening because I've been wrong in the past (therefore it's not a full review yet) but so far it's been a huge let down for me -
I usually try not to, but this one somehow stood out as being tasteless. I'll go through their albums indeed

Which MIDI / control keyboard you're using?
antic604 replied to antic604's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
So, I've narrowed it down further to Novation's Impulse 25, but when I saw this: I decided to go for the 49 keys version, which has additional bank of 9 sliders. If this guy can make such a beautiful tune out of Galantis' "No Money" then I need to finally learn to play piano and I won't do it on a 25 keys keyboard. Looking forward to my 40th birthday in 3 weeks BTW, I came up with a new rule recently - every song is automatically "saved" by using Amen Break. Some years ago hearing it in every other tune - especially jungle - was tiring, but nowadays it's fresh again. -
Well, I guess it's unavoidable to have "modern" influences in releases by established old-school artists if they want to keep the gigs coming and releases be sold; but I'm trying to always look past that to try to find that original sound that made me appreciate the artist in a first place. And in those samples it's still there, it still sounds unmistakably Logic Bomb-y / Hux Flux-ish Looking forward to full release!

Is it any good? Frankly, I don't own any of his albums and I don't think I ever heard his music. Frankly, it was this cover with the girl with a sunflower / loudspeaker that turned me off...

Which MIDI / control keyboard you're using?
antic604 replied to antic604's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
@RL thanks & don't worry - you're not the only source of information. The guys at Renoise forums actually confirmed that it will work as I want it to, so now I need to decide which one to get. I've basically narrowed it down to those three: https://www.muziker.pl/novation-impulse-25- looks very clean, almost to the point of being too simplistic but I guess that's the point, i.e.it shouldn't distract from creative flow; the downside is lack of sliders which could be handy for controling the mixer https://www.muziker.pl/m-audio-code-25- much more versatile with encoders, sliders, pads and X/Y surface, but on the downside it looks really complex and messy, with lots of buttons that change color https://www.muziker.pl/arturia-keylab-25- it's got premium build (metal + wood) and looks like a proper synth (with access to 5k of quality instruments via Arturia's Analog Lab), but like Code 25 looks very complex; the downside? no pads and the fact that knobs and sliders are labelled (even though they're fully programmable) which might be confusing for general-purpose use. I really wanted the bigger variants (49 keys), because they alleviate some issues I have with 25 key versions (e.g. sliders in Impulse 49, pads in Keylab 49, more of everything in Code 49), but looking at the videos they're simply too big. Damn, I never thought it will be so dificult -

Yes, I know you understood what I was asking for. I've put those questions to the guys in Renoise forum and we'll see -
None of the links you posted - Bandcamp & Soundcloud - contain the samples for it. It's not available for purchase on Sangoma's web page or Bandcamp account. Would be great to have those things in a PROMOTIONAL post, don't you think? Here's few: https://sangomarecords.bandcamp.com/album/xochipilli-the-seven-flowers http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/sgm/sgm1cd014.html http://www.beatspace.com/9857/Sangoma+Records/MODULE+VIRUS/Xochipilli+-+The+Seven+Flowers/detail.aspx Looking forward to this, as I loved his album on Bom Shanka Rec.!

Which MIDI / control keyboard you're using?
antic604 replied to antic604's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Not sure about other DAW-s, but I'm pretty convinced this is possible in Renoise, where practically every button, toggle, slider, etc. can be mapped to MIDI providing full control not only over the sound (VSTs, but also internal sample playback and internal FX), but also the mixer, sequencer, transport, etc. http://tutorials.renoise.com/wiki/MIDI_Mapping If you ever used trackers in your life I'd suggest to give it a go - it's really awesome & powerful (and comparatively cheap).
