  1. Yeah, not particularly impressed indeed. I 'm not particularly fond of this whole Digicult / Ephedrix / U-Recken sub-style of full-on, because it's very easy to go "full cheese" and you need really good musical knowledge to pull it off just right.
  2. I'm a "Sir" now and not "bruh" anymore?! Damn, I look old...
  3. Yes, that's obvious - I mention streaming as an additional factor to consider for the reasons I mentioned earlier.
  4. Sorry, but that's a gross oversimplification and generalisation of things. You obviously don't listen to those genres actively, because my family also think all goa/psy sounds the same, i.e. are not unique / don't have identity. --- As for the topic, goa/psy is like any other form of electronic music - it can be complex musically, but it rarely extends beyond few layered chord progressions, arpeggios and looped melodies. Mind, I have nothing against it because it is *trance* music after all, so it's supposed to be repetitive to some extent. Therefore IMO most of the musicality in goa/psy happens in the way the layers are introduced, morphed and how they progress; in key-changes, breaks and intros / outros. I'm personally a fan of one-off events in music, e.g. a cinematic samples or off-beat sequences introduced somewhere in the track, that completely change the mood or atmosphere, sometime even sound "wrong" the first time but they introduce this kind of "live", unpredictable element into typically electronic and soulless music - good recent example would be Nervasystem's "Interpretation". And sure, it's not a symphony or some intricate, monumental piece but within confines of *trance* it's something I really appreciate I find musically "attractive".
  5. Well, this IS a goa-trance forum mostly, so for those types of releases - darkpsy, progressive, full-on - you'll usually get fewer comments, which is a pity... Happy the system is catching on
  6. Had to upgrade my review to 5/5 - it's really THAT good, at least for me it is! I can't get enough of it and - after listening to "4" yesterday - I find "Brainradio" to be more accessible and varied, but still incredibly psychedelic and unique. I know a lot of you started doubting me after my 5/5 Loud "5 Billion Stars" review, but both those albums are awesome for different reasons and it is possible you can like one and hate the other. Do yourself a favour and check it out!
  7. Like they say - "everything in moderation". I mean I use FB only to follow my favourite artists & labels, connect with very selective group of friends and to post reviews to help promote music I like. On FB I'm not "friends" with my family, nor do I post their pictures, what we do, where we are, etc. Same with Google or any other services - one needs to be careful what they post online. Most people are clueless about it, some take it to the extreme and avoid "social networks" altogether, but I guess if you know what you doing and are acting responsibly, then there should be no problem with "spying", etc. And sure they're useful to find news, information, even help with daily stuff, e.g. when I booked plane tickets Google would remind me about my flight, suggesting when I should leave home to not miss the plane and once at my destination was suggesting me things to see / visit. Sure, it's "scary" to some extent, but awesome nonetheless. And who am I to be concerned if anyone is spying on me - I've nothing to hide, I'm not famous or rich. BTW, the Google Earth cars - the ones used to do photos for maps, etc. - are real, I saw one in Warsaw few years back
  8. I know what you mean - I'm buying a lot (5-10?) games a year and barely start them, some are even still unopened. No time for this when you have family (3rd baby on the way) + other hobbies. 1st world problems, though...
  9. Ok, fair points indeed. However, would you consider - in addition to Bandcamp - putting your label's music on Google Play? There's also an option for "free download" (e.g. Erothyme's "Muses & Graces": https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Erothyme_Muses_Grace?id=Bft74pauuud4bc456cwgia66nmi) so I guess it's pretty flexible. I mean does it cost you (the label) anything to do that?
  10. Me right now, listening to Chromosome "DMT Cowboys" that I got from Psyshop yesterday based on recommendations here. Now I realised I need to update my avatar and add some gray streaks to beard & "hair"
  11. Hope you're aware of this game for PS4 & PC "No Man's Sky" that's coming out very soon?
  12. On the other hand, I wasn't aware that: - Prana was a 4-piece band: https://play.google.com/store/music/artist/Prana?id=Askm2gzeyg3ihicwolr2jv4jera - Jaia were two black ladies: https://play.google.com/store/music/artist/Ja%C3%AFa?id=Ahkztobumz77vyr2vncl454wtxu - Doof released a "Kill Your Friends" album: https://play.google.com/store/music/artist/Doof?id=Aa2yd6wstowkqyuglt4jsxldh2a
  13. True. On the other hand Google Play does the pricing of digital releases better, while Bandcam usually has the same for digital & physical, e.g. Morpic Resonance's "City of Moons": Google Play - 4.30EUR https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Morphic_Resonance_The_City_Of_Moons?id=Bvmygj5jtioe2z3pwcaworozfw4 Bandcamp - 11EUR https://suntriprecords.bandcamp.com/album/morphic-resonance-the-city-of-moons Since I'm not paying for printing of CD, artwork, jewel case, shipping from factory, etc. I think Google's pricing is much fairer, no? Most likely it also factors in that for Google hosting it is much cheaper than for Bandcamp or Spotify, while their global reach - theoretically - ensures more sales and ultimately profit even if individual margins are narrower. Obviously it's different from the artists / label point of view, but if I'm to switch to digital I need some incentive and pricing is crucial. EDIT: just looking at those Google prices I might actually re-buy a lot of albums I already own and support the artists once more
  14. Oh, the "Read More" title of the album? Never made that connection... I'm sure most people here read a lot and try to be well informed - after all goa/psy is the most intelligent electronic music so the people must be most intelligent as well, right
  15. Sure, d/l + backup is obviously the way to go, but having an option to stream is useful as well, e.g. if I'm at holidays or at my parents without my music, then I can always log-in to Google Play / Bandcamp and still listen to it, even if quality is not the best. Or at the lunch break at work - I can use my company phone (on which I'm not allowed to store any files) to stream some music while eating It's good to have options, that's all.
  16. For Google Play, once you buy something you just click "Download album" or something like that from the menu and that's it. I'm not sure if it's available if you subscribe to the service? Yeah, I love Bandcamp as well but a) it has much narrower selection of music, I'm always afraid with services like that they'll vanish someday along with my collection (which won't likely happen to Google )
  17. Love your posts man, but have no idea what you wanted to say - how is that related to Oforia's album? Can you elaborate a bit on your thoughts? What I get from this is that "art" doesn't have to follow established rules and guidelines to be good, which is obvious I guess... And for me it's something I usually appreciate the most - a feeling of an art form (music, movie, book, whatever...) being different than the rest, imperfect, with some unusual quirks. It's the same with writing music - it's easy to write a formulaic piece, but it's much more difficult to do something out-of-the-box. I mean when I listen to a lot of releases I like there are things that I'd surely delete if I was to write them, but the artists somehow recognised those bits are good after all and left them in. Frankly, those are usually the best bits, that's why I've given up on writing music... Is this what you're trying to say? Because Oforia's album at first glance is borderline cheesy, somewhat simplistic and painfully old-school, but once you get over it you realise that this is actually what makes it so good. And different than everything else that's being released nowadays. If this is about Jews / Israel / Politics, then I'm out...
  18. Good for you! I'm thinking about it once in a while - not necessarily selling what I have, just switch to buying digital only - but it's so hard for me to cut the ties. Which is stupid, because nowadays I very rarely even unwrap the CDs since I get the files along with the purchase in most cases. What bothers me with digital is fragmentation, i.e. the fact that there's no single place where I can purchase everything, maintain my collection, stream it, download and re-download if something was to happen with my hard drive, etc. Google Play probably come the closest - there's lots of goa/psy, especially old-school - and it gives an option of subscribing (a'la Spotify) rather than purchasing every single thing and the prices of single album are usually 1/2 or less of physical release, which is rarely the case in other places: Some examples for more recent releases: https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Skizologic_Robotized?id=Bedp7wtumqcffoskl5phjgb735u https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Morphic_Resonance_The_City_Of_Moons?id=Bvmygj5jtioe2z3pwcaworozfw4 https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Ephedra_Flying_Over_The_Universe?id=Bdidgm7kh5qunil2gygli4cn4zu https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Filteria_Lost_In_The_Wild?id=Bihp76v7lukvjhckxi5muiub3ey https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Shivattva_The_Tales_Of_Harvia?id=Bv7lcyghjdlllkhwkeuol7kqhky https://play.google.com/store/music/album/LOUD_5_Billion_Stars?id=Bmqymmsjps5wfttmqzgxkd2zphu https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Kindzadza_I_d_Like_You_to_Be_a_Mind_Reader?id=Bgbn45hvb3qzwi5lu6gw55xmhyq https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Shpongle_Museum_of_Consciousness?id=B7dsiifjzmxr4s443wzhnicqrbq I only wonder if artists / labels get a cut from that? It's Google, so I'd expect they do, but would be awesome to have someone like Joske/Mars weigh in on this.
  19. Don't worry - they understand it, they accept it, I'm "allowed" to spend whatever I want on it and dedicate as much time as I want to listen to it. They just don't like it, the same as I'm not into my son's Warhammer4000, my daughter's My Little Pony or my wife's gardening / healthy food. It's all cool. Thought it was funny to mention
  20. Thanks! The inspiration was, that some time ago - jokingly! - I asked my kids if they'd like to have my CDs collection assigned to them in my dying will. They obviously said no, because everyone in my family hates this music... Now, the tune changed when they saw how much it's worth
  21. Damn! That's not the purpose of this thread. Just pure fun / dick-measuring contest
  22. How are you getting there - through your profile or directly from the top-down menu next to your avatar? It doesn't show for the former.
  23. Yeah, I love Bandcamp myself and purchase from there whenever I can, but this release is not available on there... So you're saying you refuse to check the release because it's sold on Psyshop & Bandcamp?!? They killed your firstborn or something? You can always mail DJ Kri directly - as he suggests on his Soundcloud profile - and ask him for a signed copy, while paying directly to him (that's what I'll do).
