  1. It's been almost 9 years since their previous release (https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/70339-tickets-dreaming-of-places/) and I'm frankly not at all familiar with their output, but I remember a lot of people listening to the South African twilight psy had them in high regard. It sounds really different to the majority of today's psy, almost like it was actually made 10 years ago (which it maybe was?): full of melodies, expansive sounds, actual bass lines that you can memorise, etc. Listen & buy here: https://timecode.bandcamp.com/album/silent-solutions-timecode <- digital, lots of old Timecode stuff at EUR5 (Artifacts, Shift, Principles of Flight) https://timecoderecords.bandcamp.com/album/silent-solutions <- digital + CD https://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/tcc/tcc1cd032.html <- digital + CD
  2. Really great track, I like a lot how it develops by revealing new layers and modulating what's already there. Brilliant stuff! <3 If I was forced to peg it to some genre, it's the closest to progressive trance, with strong hints of techno at @tsotsi above suggested. EDIT: lots of great music on your Soundcloud! Followed
  3. Looking forward to this! @HH, I count 4 Cronomi names (Artha, M-Run, NewBorn and ...Ufomatka)?
  4. WTF? It was their best albums since the debut! Yeah, I've heard about this 'taste' thing and still don't get it
  5. Never too late While you're at it, check those two EPs as well: https://nervasystem.bandcamp.com/album/e-x-t-e-n-d-e-d-m-i-n-d-e-p https://nervasystem.bandcamp.com/album/b-r-a-i-n-r-a-d-i-o-extended-player and his old-school album, if you haven't: https://anjunarecords.bandcamp.com/album/nervasystem-time-travel
  6. Ok, it's as finished as piece of 'art' can ever be finished... Time to let go and start something new https://soundcloud.com/antic604/2017-antic604-wormhole-1 .wav version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1QPs5oFBeTqWGZ1N0xSSjB6cTQ

  8. As a kind of follow-up to recently released album, Victor Solsona a.k.a. Hypnoxock decided to share with the world a mini album containing unreleased and remixed tracks from different points of his career, dating back to 1999 and up until 2013. It's a name-your-price album so - if you want - available for free, so have a look: 1. Hypnoxock - Wormhole (Remastered 2002) 2. Hypnoxock - The Final Passenger (Nocturnal Mix 2015) 3. Hypnoxock - Mismo Plastico (Virtualmismo Tribute Remix) 2011 4. Hypnoxock - Dr. Livingstone (Unreleased 1999) 5. Hypnoxock - Progresion Ecliptica (Special Edit Ozora 2013) 6. Hypnoxock - Deluxaflex (Unreleased 2004) 7. Hypnoxock - Blue Monday (Tribute Remix to New Order) https://hypnoxock.bandcamp.com/album/sounds-from-another-time-mini-album
  9. Oh? So it's Neogoa involved in that mess around BGF festivals and mass cancellations of acts that were supposed to be playing there? Is there anything anywhere I could read on what actually happened?
  10. Few thoughts: - it starts and develops great, with hard kick/bass and some really nice, lush and warm acid lines sprinkled in between, - somehow the congas do not sit well in the mix, like if they were coming from completely other environment - maybe it's a matter of how they were sampled? or some reverb? - the chanting don't fit to the melodic progression of the tune, but are acceptable - the triplets on the other hand? well, it sounds like the song tripped and fell... totally breaks the groove, IMO. Obviously the above are a matter of taste, so it just reflects my personal preference, likes & dislikes and therefore take with a grain of salt
  11. Well, I don't know the details of what happened but it must have been serious to trigger such a strong reaction. Some time ago I was also tired of psynews.org and asked mods to delete my account which I've been using for 16 years (!!!) ...but after few months I was back. Psy/Goa is not just ANY music to me, it's the way of life In quitting psynews, psytrance related FB/Twitter or Bandcamp you're actually doing more harm to yourself and the artists you love, than to the people doing the shady business. Also, being older gives me a benefit of reflecting on how time passes and I can clearly see cycles of passion in my life: many years ago popular science was my main thing, then I got deeply interested in gaming technology (game engines, rendering techniques, etc.), recently I switched yet again and got back to writing music. But always goa/psy was there as the undercurrent, providing steady and firm ground I could always fall back on. So, I'd rather say "see you back soon" instead of "good bye"
  12. Bought it, but listening through I remembered why I never bothered to own the CD in first place (I even think I traded it?) - it descents into cacophonous mess in 2nd half... I know lots of people like that sound, but it gets on my nerves. Anyway, gotta support the Zion604 people
  13. You can buy it at Psyshop and Bandcamp right now and have the CDs delivered still this week. It was never explicitly said that the 'links' you'd get pre-ordering at Bandcamp would be a links for Bandcamp. For all I know it could be a link to some cloud service to d/l the files. Bandcamp has a functionality to properly and transparently process pre-orders, like so: https://timecoderecords.bandcamp.com/album/silent-solutions. This way it's all there: I know what I'm ordering, I know when it will be sent and/or available for download. The tools are there, they just need to use them. And yes, it's backwards to have the CD released 2 weeks before the digital downloads, because there's no way it stops piracy - quite the contrary, because people only wanting the files will have no way to obtain them legally for two weeks.
  14. The main thing making it different / better in that later section is the accent (reverb ) on the middle-layer melody at 4:13 / 4:14. It glues it all together and provides stronger context for that particular chord. Pure accident*, but works beautifully * in a sense that I know very little about music theory, but have a good ear for musical harmony and am able to recreate what I have in my head by trial and error
  15. It's exactly the same clip at both instances, and I actually was going for this dissonant, mysterious feeling, like it kind of breaks from the 'expected' chord progression but still remains in acceptable territory. I can see this being an acquired taste, but considering I got lots of feedback on the track and no one else felt this was out of place, I'd risk and leave it in especially since I think it works really to the advantage of the track here Again, that is the purpose: to have the reverb and delay part of the arrangement providing accent to things I wanted to emphasise. They're both put on send tracks and automated to achieve that. However, you might be right about the amount being too much, because I'm working in headphones and spatial effects can sound misleading in there, although usually the other way around, i.e. what seems enough or excessive on headphones, can be barely audible on speakers. I'll try to get that balanced when I finish the tune and come back to mixing it. Thanks, really appreciate your comments!
  16. Yes, I noticed that. It's probably because the official release date for the digital version is August 1st. The thinking behind is - and I got this in e-mail from Boshke - that if digital was sold simultaneously with the CDs, no one would buy the CDs and the files would get to torrents and other pirate sites. Well, guess what? 1) people that don't want the CDs won't buy them anyway, 2) once the CDs are out there, it will get to torrents / pirate sites anyway, 3) there's risk that those wanting only the files will get the pirated version instead, since they need to wait 2 more weeks to obtain them in a legal way, 4) I wouldn't be surprised if there's some additional stupid exclusive period, where files are on only available August 1st via e.g. Beatport and nowhere else. Yeah, that's a proper old-school, i.e. backwards thinking.
  17. Agree, that about sums it up perfectly. What I admire though, is they're not shy about it, it is what it is. And nothing more. I appreciate the honesty and sometimes simple music is all I need, e.g. today driving 500km at 150-160km/h you can't really hear a lot of detail in music, so albums like this are perfect
  18. What a f***ing mess - it's out on CD, but I can't buy it digitally yet?! What year is it?
  19. No-bullshit, honest and straight-to-the-point full-on psytrance. It's not intellectual, very much one dimensional and formulaic, but - damn! - it works. You can hear years of dancefloor experience between the two guys (Olli Wisdom & Max Petersen) in a way they build their tunes, choose the sounds, construct the build-ups, drops and peaks. I liked a lot their debut from 2015 and this one seems to follow the same path. 1. Amazing Tales from Outer Space 2. Mad Robots 3. Out of this World 4. Drop The Bomb 5. Electric Kool A©ID Test 6. LSD Party (Kicking In) 7. LSD Party (Meltdown) 8. Joint O’Clock 9. Party Planners Samples: Purchase (out today): https://tiprecords1.bandcamp.com/album/amazing-tales-from-outer-space https://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/tip/tip1cd821.html http://www.beatspace.com/10239/Tip+Records/MAD+TRIBE/Amazing+Tales+From+Outer+Space/detail.aspx
  20. Worst thing is he said "make it sound as good as" and they understood "copy", which - with less talented artists - was reduced to droning kick & bass and we ended up with 2000+ tech/prog phase which split the scene. I don't think it was a bad thing however, just find it interesting to read that quote as this was something I suspected for a long time.
