The problem with nitzho(not/goa) for me: it is the exact opposite of a "solid" style, by solid I mean something you can listen 20 times and still like it ten years apart. For me nitzhonot/goa is the opposite of that. I tried a few years ago, I enjoyed some of it but it does not stand the test of time. I just got bored of it pretty quickly. I still recommend Goalien - Psychedelic dilemma especially the title track which is my favourite track ever made in the genre. Agneton sounds spectacular and in your face but I can't stand it anymore. Matter of taste anyway. But I noticed something, every release in the genre get forgotten quickly and I am not surprised about that.

Highlights: Tracks 2 and 3. Track 4 has some impressive moments. Overall it can sound like it lacks a bit of direction, there is still a main melody that comes back near the end but I am not too much in love with that melody. However some sequences in this track are brilliant. I do feel this track is a bit too long for my personal taste though. Like it is trying to be long. Also it is probably the most psychedelic track here but not the most trancy. Track 3 is a strong track but it is also a bit too long for me. Apart from that, the substance of this track is very nice and I appreciate the fact that is under 140 Bpm. Sounds like a classic. Track 1 is nice to set up the mood but I confess I am not crazy about it if it is not to listen to the following tracks. Like others have said, it sounds like a (long) intro. Track 2 is definitely my fav, the true meaning of trance and I would also call it progressive. It is a very well made track, dark and story-telling. It is like listening to tribal music without the typical elements of it (chants, drums, real instruments etc.), the construction is very simple, progressive but very effective. Really pleased with this one, most trancy track here. Overall a quality compilation that should not be missed, congratulations to the artists.

It is been a while since the last time I heard Pacemaker, I totally forgot about how good this track was! (collaboration with X-dream), would be even better without the vocal sample (annoying and cheesy). By the way what do you guys think of this collaboration with Psychaos? (Off limits by Dodgy connection) I like it.

Yeah I know good news still, I post quite a lot on Psynews but don't listen to that much music but I will listen to it next week! PS: edited my post, I found the track posted by Droso. PS: Listening to Fragletrollet right now, such a fantastic track

Nice thread Stark I still have not listened to Jikkenteki, I know I should! +1 for the Qiujan track There is a track that I find very good and unusual, it is Psyko Disko - Te loco https://www.discogs.com/Psyko-Disko-Psycho-Disco/master/33915 Don't know why the track stops at 10 minutes on youtube. The track has 2 parts, a high tempo psychedelic part and a dark beatless dark part. Very good and unique (experimental) track (terribly underrated). New Born - The observer is pretty nice, a bit repetitive and empty but good morning track to chill out. Talamasca - Odyssey is pretty good as well: Zirrex - Hollystrerius has a slower tempo than most tracks on the album. Still one of my favourites in the album Lost in Time. To this day, my personal favourite still remains Fragletrollet - Manik 11 I am not a expert of this style, I listen to some very occasionnally but this track is so impressive, it has something most tracks lack (the sample used fits the music perfectly, the intro is beautiful, the part before the 10th minute mark is amazing): Also I think there was a nice track posted by Drosophilia a few years ago (around 18 minutes, in the thread "rate this track" (lazy to look for it now, Drosophilia if you read, my memory says it was you but I could be wrong!) Edit: Ok I found the track https://www.psynews.org/forums/topic/64749-rate-the-above-track-fun-game/?p=1051935 Krussedull - Alberts Journey

Lol a very old review of mine with terrible english but genuine feelings. Anyway I am listening to this again right now, Goa-Head compilations have really grown old. This one is no exception. I changed my opinion on Bandit (Yash), back in the day he was promoted as the israeli Atmos, his sound was quite interesting. I still find the MOS track terrible, I never understood it. Son Kite still awesome (superior to the whole scene at that time). Echo Plantation still as solid as a rock. The track by Paste is funny. But yes this is old, lots of fillers, lots of tracks with no identity, lifeless, dull. 2001 was a strange year.

It is always nice to have active discussions in the review sections, and yes back in the day there was a lot of discussion, but personally I think if people read the review then it is good enough. Agree about the rest of your post. Feel free to post some.

I love these kind of compilations from DAT, also because you can expect very different tracks from one another, looking forward especially for tracks 2, 4, 7, 8. Thanks for your work Draeke. Off topic...was wondering if we would find on next DAT comp this mysterious track played by (no longer on Earth) japanese DJ (last answer by Oopie on the topic intrigued me). Has the track been identified? (sorry for off topic).- 61 replies

Your favourite collaboration track (and explain why)
Manuser replied to Manuser's topic in General Psytrance
Good this one, collaboration between Tim Schuldt and Psychaos: -
I am not familiar with Digitalis and The Visitors, thanks will check their music.

I wonder why there are no track similar to Animatronic, it was a nice style full of enthuasiasm that did not care to fit into a specific genre.

I am guessing you know Loopus in fabula already? especially their first album https://www.discogs.com/Loopus-In-Fabula-Loopus-In-Fabula/release/155996 Astrofunk and Fat Ladies Bingo are also very good. Benza as well https://www.discogs.com/Benza-Benza/release/181402 (coming from someone who can't stand suomi) -
So much butthurt on this topic? Minimal? ...sorry but this is not minimal, this is techno (I mean 95% techno and 5% of prog trance)...pretty simple, you like techno then give it a try, if not then don't waste your time as you will likely dislike this. Anyway I would call this psychedelic techno, and yes I mean not minimal at all, quite the opposite, there is much more work and details in this album than in usual techno music, much more effects, (delays, resonance) too. Some really nice tracks, Mr Ness... and Modern terms are my favourites. Very cold style, nice attention to details, cool percussions it is a nice listen with headphones. I reckon Danz Ego was superior to Klanguage, the latter did not really do it for me and I tried... By the way this album was released in 2000 (not in 2001 like it is specified in the original post).

Hard to say. Personally the ones I used to hear a few times on a swiss radio (Couleur 3) were two remixes by Marino Stephano: And especially this version which is my favourite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrcWEr0Umr0 CM was Marino Stephano + Crisci Mauro, so here Stephano was remixing his own track. He died quite a long time ago, I think around year 2000. He made one of the most emotional trance tracks back then, Eternal rhapsody:

A rare proof that rolling basslines can work together with goa trance. Although I would not say this is typical goa trance, in my opinion this is simply a mix of different kinds of trance, very morning stuff with top quality sound. No doubt for me that this album belongs in the top 5 best of what I have heard last year. Thanks God there is still music with personality around

Mine is probably Jaïa collaborating with Deedrah (Dado) to make the track Sillenium. Why: because both artists styles really match together and none of them really dominates the other. On one hand we know Jaïa made a few powerful tracks in the past but none of them as powerful as Sillenium, so I guess that was Deedrah's touch. On the other hand, Deedrah knows how to make hard dance floor oriented tracks but usually the melodies are pretty poor (when there is any). So for me this was close to a perfect collaboration.

Did you know this track? Never heard about it until yesterday. Nice one, it is from 1999 but sound really old school. (Charm - Ancient religion)

Somnesia - Cosmic Resonance :::album:::
Manuser replied to InFecTeD_gOa's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Very nice track, clean and beautiful. Nice to hear this kind of sound, with not too many layers so that the music does not get too overwhelming -
Such a shame. Such a shame!!! And the prize of worst mastering ever goes to Alpha Circuit. Next to this, Battle of the future Buddhas sounds like the cleanest music. I don't know if it sounds mastered or unmastered actually, but I am sure I have heard unmastered music that still sounds better than this album. Not only mastering but terrible choice of distortion on the kicks. Such a shame because track 3 could be really excellent. The music itself is good, and considering the release date (2006) I think it could have became a classic, if...

Ah that is the one I was about to post! Good one, not sure what happened to the ending of some tracks though. Also for something that sounds a bit amateur but interesting: Limiti - Micronic calculation (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6). Qiujan - Ritual To The Light is also worth downloading, even though less "in your face". If you don't limit your search to strictly goa trance, I recommend Amygdala - Modus Operandi.

Favorite oldschool techno/early trance?
Manuser replied to Blair Thaumic's topic in General Psytrance
Jam & Spoon - Follow Me was released in 1993, if I had to pick just one track it would be this one. Also Planet BEN - Welcome To The Future is said to have been produced in 1991 which would be unbelievable, so if it is true then it is my favourite psychedelic track from this era no doubt. -
Maybe the music on this label? https://www.discogs.com/label/80901-Digital-Diamonds. Apart from Nuclear ramjet and Kino Oko I don't think the other producers ever made trance (not that I am aware of) By the way the music is free, download here http://www.digital-diamonds.com/
