I saw Joie today; he drives a taxi in Glastonbury where I teach. I was having lunch outside a cafe with a couple of friends, one of whom knows him quite well, and we went up to say hello. Paul introduced me and we spoke for a few minutes; I told him that I just wanted to say thanks for all the inspiration he'd been part of giving us as a band since we formed, and that the last time I saw Static play (at Waveform Festival) they'd blown me away. He said "OOOD? Never heard of you but I'll check out your myspace when we finally get broadband connected at home".

As far as I know, both albums had pressing runs of 2000, although I have never seen any paperwork and it's possible we were not given accurate figures. Don't start. Please. I can't afford to replace my laptop and I need my knuckles and fingers undamaged to play at Synergy weekend after next.

Sure, I have one here on a copy of our first album. It'll cost you £600. Really though that's just fucking shoddy. They've got the name of the album wrong, and considering most of the tracks on it were recorded in 1996 I'm not sure how they got hold of 123 copies from 1995. So... copies of our first album are selling for £144.79, and copies of our second for £203.40. That gives me a distinct sensation of satisfaction. If only my belly was as easily pleased. Oh, and the rear suspension on my car went wrong today so I've got to drive it to work with its ass dragging on the ground (not literally, luckily) until I can afford to fix it. I've just bought enough food to last me until I get paid though so as long as I get paid enough to cover my rent (didn't happen last month) I can spend my last £20 on fuel... you know you're skint when you can't even afford to cover your tobacco addiction...

Doomsday is great! Very moody and the orchestra sounds good (much better than mine!); I really like the way you used the different articulations. And the vocals takes it a real step up in depth - the first time I heard them I got goosebumps - although even more layers would smooth it out a bit more. I love the ending!

Wow... really nice Per. Echoes of Vince (as well as maybe Chris, I don't know) Clarke & Erasure, the Specials (for some reason it reminds me of Ghost Town), Tomcraft, console space-shooter games from the early 80s, Japan around Gentlemen Take Polaroids... I really like the way you've used stacatto vs. legato to introduce new sections... the panning on the fuzzy bassline is either really brave or stupid but really works very well. The bitcrush feel is a bit overdone for my personal taste but the track works excellently as a unit - every aspect complements every other. The melodies in the second half lift it up so much, and I agree with Billy they add a distinct emotional warmth to the track - very Boards of Canada! Love the chord sequences; the minor/major transition between the 2nd and 3rd chords just makes me want to hear it again and again, and the on-beat cymbals are a refreshing change to boom-tss-boom-tss. The only real negative thing I would say about the production is that the kickdrum is really really heavy in the bottom end but that shouldn't be difficult to sort out in post production Great stuff man.

In that case you might well be able to import the file directly into SX. (from memory) File -> Import -> Standard MIDI File

What synth? Did you use an onboard sequencer? Is the disk DOS-formatted, and is the file on it stored in a Standard MIDI File format?
