  1. Hah... you want 3 screens for that lot! I've heard that Phoscyon isn't quite as accurate an emulation as ABL2 - what's your opinion? How do the TR emulations stack up against the originals?
  2. Did you like it? Ok people, here's another update. There are 5(!) new mixes for your listening pleasure... here's the full list again with the new additions: OOOD DJ Mixes: March 2007 - click to download Psytrance Steve OOOD - Morning After March 2007 <----- NEW Steve OOOD - Tribeadelica March 2007 <----- NEW Steve OOOD - Pocket Portal Feb 2007 Steve OOOD - Little Sizzler Nov 2006 Steve OOOD - Daytime Trance Feb 2006 Steve OOOD - Daytime Trance 2 May 2006 Steve OOOD - Psy Shambala Oct 2005 Rama OOOD - Shambaloon March 2007 <----- NEW Rama OOOD - Up For It 2004 Rama OOOD - Psysoup Jan 2007 Ryo OOOD - Make Nice March 2007 <----- NEW Ryo OOOD - Triskele Mix 1 Oct 2005 Colin OOOD - Released Tracks Oct 2004 Breaks Rama OOOD - Morning Break Dec 2006 Chillout Rama OOOD - All Over The Shop March 2007 <----- NEW Rama OOOD - Chilli Om Feb 2007 Steve OOOD - Shamanic Dreams Jan 2007 Steve OOOD - Mushroom World 2003 Steve OOOD - Chill Mix 1 Oct 2005 Rama OOOD - Planet Rama 2000 Rama OOOD - Chilled Baba Sept 2005
  3. so, you are coming in athens on the 14 of april :)

    See you there man

  4. I'm a member of the MCPS in the UK. Why? Mechanicals. Unfortunately I haven't notified them of any of our works for about 8 years, which means when I finally do we should get a nice fat cheque.
  5. Nope... I'm pretty sure you can turn on Reason channels at any time, even if Reason itself isn't running. The only thing that needs to happen in order for Rewire to work properly is to start Cubase first, then Reason.
  6. First start Cubase. When Cubase has fully loaded (important!) start Reason. Reason is now running in Rewire mode and can output audio only to Cubase. Next (assuming the menu structure is the same as in SX3): Devices -> Reason brings up the Reason Rewire channel window. Activate as many Reason channels as you think you'll need; you can always activate more later if you need to. Each channel you activate shows up in the Cubase mixer (make sure Rewire channels are not hidden). Then in Reason, connect your devices to the appropriate inputs of the Reason Hardware Interface. Now use the Cubase mixer to balance your track and add send FX etc. Note that channels 1 & 2 are the only stereo pair - to work with stereo sources coming out of Reason I tend to put each Reason channel pair into a stereo Group channel in Cubase, then hide those Rewire channels and work only on the group. If you also use groups as FX sends, or will be further grouping your Reason channels it's essential to create a large number of groups at the start of the project and use only low-numbered groups to combine stereo Rewire channels. This is down to a limitation in the Cubase audio engine (unfixed as of Cubase 4.0.2) and is a FUCKING HASSLE but there you go. If you want to use Cubase to sequence devices in Reason, note that when running in Rewire mode, each device created in Reason becomes available as a MIDI output in the Cubase Track Inspector. To automate Reason parameters you'll need to look up the CC table for each device; it's in the Start Menu as 'MIDI Implementation Charts.pdf'. Hope this helps!
  7. Something for you to try, Per. Next Reason track you make, don't use the Reason mixers at all but Rewire each sound individually to Cubase 4, and balance it there. You can still use Reason devices in the chain for each sound but avoid the mixers. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
  8. 4.0.2 is crashing too?
  9. *knocks*

    hello?! is anybody home?

  10. Nothing wrong with those kinds of peaks, mastering will take care of them. As I said before, high mix RMS values are obtained through effective and appropriate EQ and compression processing, ie. it's an experience thing.
  11. 250 euros... Still, track 2 CD 2 is worth that much on its own, so I guess it's fair enough
  12. Ok... be aware that I'm just giving my POV here and 'proper' mastering engineers might disagree 1: I believe that a well-mastered track needs no more than 2-3dB GR on the limiter. The guy who mastered Free Range used L2 with the threshold set to -1dB. No, I didn't believe him either! 2: If your peaks are around 0dB, your track is already almost normalised! I'm not sure I understood what you meant though. 3: If individual sounds are appropriately compressed in the mix, and your EQ work is good, you will be able to get a higher RMS without clipping the master. "Appropriate compression" can sometimes mean "two compressors and a limiter" Reznik - never used HarBal.
  13. That's like saying "I've got a fantastic car but if you take out the brakes it doesn't drive so well". If you need to apply 8dB of gain reduction to your final limiter then either your mix sucks or the rest of your mastering chain isn't set up right. With any limiter it's almost never advised to limit a final mix with that much gain reduction, precisely because you'll introduce audible distortion.
  14. Hell no. And I think Feathers might be older than me.
  15. don't the yellow bars move depending on how loud the track is at any given moment?
  16. 1) Sven Vath 2) Hardfloor 3) Dennis
  17. You want a humourous 'D' or the real 'D'?

  19. A Device Panel is a set of on-screen controls (faders, buttons, knobs) that you can use to send MIDI messages of all kinds to connected external hardware. The one I designed lets you control all the knobs on my NM1. Using Device Panels you can basically turn your external synths into VSIis. For a comprehensive list of all the major software and hardware used to create Free Range, see the above screenshot. Oh, except Blue Seal which was written in Reason and mixed in SX via Rewire, and Eye Of The Beholder which was written on a combination of SX, Logic 5.5.1 and Fruityloops, and which has all of Ott's hardware studio on it.
  20. I've just spent the last few hours making myself a new SX template, with the aim of trying to encourage myself to use my Nord Modular more. Most of the time was spent making a Device Panel for the Nord, using as the background a photo of the synth I took when I'd just got it. It was quite a battle; the Midi Device Manager is a bit broken and anyway I had to teach myself how to use it from scratch, but I got there in the end. The last time I did anything like this in Cubase was in the pre-VST days when I made a couple of MIDI Mixer Maps for some of my old hardware synths, and a lot has changed in the meantime. I now have 4 Device Panels, one for each slot in the Nord, with each knob mapped to a different CC; it should make automating the synth in real-time much easier. I'm pretty pleased with it, and I think it'll make a good jumping-off point for my next projects. [EDIT] I'm such a geek... the only way I could finish it properly was to manually edit the template XML file
  21. Better give me your FTP details then, and start uploading. PM me with your first offer for how the financial side might work.
  22. No. To my mind there is absolutely no point in starting with a preset if you'll be tweaking every parameter. If you really want to learn how compression works, the best idea is to start from scratch each time.
  23. ...and are you going to change your name to Memo?
