  1. Well she does have the full might of Psytropic Records behind her. So to speak.

  3. Yes, that's the mixing process. Mastering does involve "fitting tracks of the album on the new medium" though - gaps between tracks, a consistent sound across all tracks, making sure one track doesn't sound suddenly louder than the others, making the album flow as a whole. http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/.../104272/forum/2 Clips there of the OOOD album before and after mastering.
  4. Sorry, I forgot that as a producer I don't have the right to an opinion about things like this. As a human being though, I that find the commodification of the process of musical creation that you describe makes me sad. It also makes me realise that when you lot hear some of the music I'll be writing this year I won't be your friend any more because - and I say this with some assurance - you won't like it, and you'll think that makes me into a bad person for 'changing my style' LOL. By the way, if you can show me where I got upset because I thought you'd criticised me, I'd be grateful if you could let me know as I can't find it. BTW just to repeat what I'm sure everybody knows but not everybody understands, because if they did then discussions like this would not happen and hooray for that day: personal taste is just that - personal. No-one is right (or wrong) because they like (or don't like) certain music. It's an 'emotion' thing. Arguing your point about such matters is as pointless as arguing about what colour love is.
  5. = fascism. "You must continue to make the music I like! You must not change! You started out making music for youself but now you must make it for me! ME! MEEEEEEE!"
  6. Jesus Lemmi, what sort of a question is that? People aren't products... and people don't make music for the same reasons they make cereals. By all means, tell people you don't like something, and say why, but that should be the end of it, cereal or producer - endless discussions trying to justify why your opinions about matters of taste are more valid than other people's are a waste of forum space and good reading time, and are only perpetrated by people who have nothing else in life to live for but the feeling of getting one up on someone else. If you even need to ask that question I have to wonder... You've become more and more bitter recently on Psynews, and to see you equate composers and musicians in general with people churning out breakfast cereals is a little saddening. Many of us musos do have something to say in our music, and just because Lemmiwinks doesn't hear it there, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
  7. No, that's 95% to do with the original mix.
  8. We could be up for it, depending on things.
  9. This is what Psyreviews thinks: OOOD Free Range Organic It’s a little-known – and, let’s be honest, largely insignificant – fact that without OOOD, there would be no psyreviews. Their Kundalini is THE track that kept me interested in this music, after having my curiosity piqued by those very same year-dot tracks that everyone credits. Free Range has been a long time coming, and it bloody well sounds like it too. The production hugs you, lifts you up from the conventional psytrance bottom-heavy spectrum and to have this level of musical variety on one piece of plastic is almost enough to reaffirm your faith in music. The title track kicks off funky and drops into 4-4 in one of the best set-starters ever devised; after which, Smoke A Lot flitters from glistening dub to floaty doof with a sublime elegance. The Humming is evil and hefty up to a dreamy breakdown, after which it’s evil and hefty again, and Solar Sway takes things into a sort of netherworld-y, morning-trance-cum-oldskool that isn’t exactly arresting, but is jolly nice all the same. Oh My (Good Golly Me) is one of their best efforts here. It’s brave, it’s bold, and it’s beautiful. The vox distorts and warps perfectly, the techno-pounding rig botherage is in full effect, and subtle changes make it feel like a real journey, in the manner of Prometheus’ better work. Marijuajuana has a few too many samples, but its combination of shitkicking disco and dreamhouse pads make it a winner. Rock My Soul again suffers from over-samplage, which could almost be forgiven were the tune itself not quite so wandering and noodly (or should that be nOOODly). Sorry, crap joke – but then that’s what you come to psyreviews for, isn’t it? Blue Seal is a cracker. Taking ages to start, it holds the attention perfectly with intricate hooks, suggested melodies, an array of frequencies – in short, everything this kind of music should have. It all comes together in the wonderful, warming Eye Of The Beholder; utterly wonderful, fluid, epic, dreamtime stuff… the kind of which I never thought I’d here. Free Range is a decent album, with plenty of variation and with the inclusion of what’s known in the trade as "short talky bits" (think Three Feet High And Rising), it’s a winning package for home listening. Musically, it may lack a certain thunking presence – as in, it doesn’t sound like normal fullon –and as such DJ’s might find they don’t give it quite so much of an airing. But the bottom line for the rest of us is that this is a mature, confident, loveable, lasting album that’s executed with flair, grace, professionalism, and a little sprinkle of magic from another dimension. Probably. 9
  10. If you're interested to hear what good mastering can actually do to a reasonably well-produced raw track, check out this thread: http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/.../104272/forum/2
  11. I'm not going to be there... Sagiv can't afford to bring us all so we couldn't play live, and we had to choose who would represent us for a DJ set. It wasn't my turn to travel, so Ryo and Ramsay will be playing back-to-back - you lucky people! Voice of Cod should NOT be on that flyer; I'm really hating the idea of people going there expecting to see VoC and being disappointed. I'm writing to the promoter now.
  12. Probably not supposed to put up my own tunes but.. OOOD - Free Range: chickens
  13. Gaaah... I'm biassed, I think they're all great. If you don't want to dl all of them I'd recommend Little Sizzler, the Daytime Trance series, Morning Break, Shamanic Dreams, Planet Rama and Triskele Mix.
  14. Hehehe I didn't do that mix, it was Steve OOOD I've PMd you his email address so you can ask him yourself, or I'll show him this thread when he's here next week and maybe he'll be able to answer your question.
  15. They're all under 80 minutes (if only by a couple of seconds in some cases!) and will all fit on CDs.
  16. When you get home half-way through Smoke A Lot you'll know you're ready for the marathon. BTW Album review now on www.psyreviews.net...
  17. Stop confusing the poor bugger. CDs are no problem; you can check them in or carry them onboard, as long as they'll fit in your carryon luggage. Just don't take a knife!

  19. Just so you know, and despite what it said on the version of the flyer that you and I have obviously both seen, Voice of Cod has not been booked for this party, and OOOD will not be playing live. However Rama and Ryo from the band WILL be DJing, and hopefully will be playing more than a few tracks from the album! They are two of my very favourite DJs ever and I'm very sure that they'll totally rock the dancefloor. Thanks to everyone for your kind words about the album
  20. That's actually a pretty good title! If we're talking about our own tracks here though, I was always very pleased with 'Synchronicity Converger' by the Unconscious Collective... fans of Jung will know what we were on about, I hope
  21. It's only complete in as much as those are all the mixes online at the moment... there will be more to come, trust me! The guys have been doing mixes on CD since 1997 so there's a huge stash somewhere waiting to be encoded to mp3. Lauryn - if you can upload the one(s) you have to psyTunes.co.uk I'll link to it/them here
