  1. As much as the traffic will bear It's all negotiable though.
  2. Stuff like that is best discussed in a PM Let me know how many tracks, and any other details you think relevant.
  3. I don't know what the 'best' software is; most mastering houses I've been to in the past 10 years have used Sadie for playback/recording and as a plugin host. However these studios all use esoteric hardware that neither I nor most of you guys have access to, so in this case the issue of software is misleading. Personally I have a complicated hybrid setup based on Sound Forge which provides a lot of flexibility within the limitations of my budget: Hardware: PC with onboard soundcard YAMAHA DS2416 sound card w. AX44 I/O expansion (4 in, 4 out) Focusrite Compounder compressor Software: Sound Forge Cubase SX PROBLEM I want to use Sound Forge to master stuff because the plugin chainer rocks. I also want to use my Focusrite Compounder compressor as part of my mastering chain. If you know Sound Forge you will see the problem here; Sound Forge can only deal with one set of stereo outputs at a time and will not work in any form of duplex mode (ie playback and recording simultaneously). I also want to be able to move the Compounder to anywhere in the chain at will. SOLUTION Run SX and Sound Forge simultaneously on the same machine and use Wormhole2 to pass audio between them as necessary. SX can work with multi I/O sound cards so use this to get audio to/from the Compounder and the DS2416/AX44. 3x Wormhole2 in Insert mode between Sound Forge and SX allow the Compounder to appear as a single plugin in the Sound Forge plugin chainer, whilst another 2x Wormhole2 in Direct mode allow mastered audio to be output from the end of the Sound Forge plugin chainer and passed to SX where it can be monitored and recorded. Sound Forge is set to use the onboard sound card while SX uses the Yamaha ASIO drivers; mastering chain bypass is obtained by bypassing the plugin chainer and listening to the output from the onboard soundcard. Signal path: Playback from Sound Forge into SF plugin chainer -> plugins -> Wormhole2 -> SX -> Compounder -> SX -> Wormhole2 -> Sound Forge plugin chainer -> plugins -> Wormhole2 -> SX It's complicated but works very well indeed If anyone here wants stuff mastered just let me know. I'll do you a free 2-minute sample and you can decide from there if it's worth it for you... unfortunately I can't offer my services for free but Psynews members get a discount!
  4. I do this. It works well on the whole, if you don't need too much accuracy.
  5. My sources tell me that the 'Nuns set was all-new versions made by Dick over the last few months. I'm guessing they'll be doing a few live sets at various big festivals in the coming year or so.

  7. Come on guys, if you want to beat each other off, I mean I mean beat each other up, do it via PM or in Offtopic or something, ok?

  9. http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?sh...ndpost&p=630105 I met Mars, DP, Anoebis, Trunksan... asked about 4 people if their name was 'Evan' lol.
  10. Oh come on Radi, I'm not that scary.
  11. Drag-and-drop in the inserts is a must-have for me.
  12. I haven't got a degree but I've had a fair bit of musical education and experience prior to getting into goa trance... I had piano lessons from the age of 5 to 18, and studied music at school where I also learned the bass; took the first year of music A-level when doing my maths retake at college (spent most of my time in the 8-track studio there but did a lot of theory and aural training) - here I played tympani in the college orchestra (sorry NT, it's true!) and piano in the college big band; I did an electronic music module in my final term at university 'as an easy option'... I wrote my first melody when I was six (I can still remember it now) and from the age of 15 have played keyboards in all kinds of bands, from teen-pop to goth, stadium rock, funk, jazz(ish lol) and classic covers (this band included a 2-week residency as house band for a restaurant in Sharm el Sheik of all places), and recently played bass and sang backing vocals in an 5-piece indie rock band for 3 years; between 1990 and 2004 I also wrote for and performed on about 5 independantly-released albums for a folk/jazz/fusion band; from the age of 14 up until I left college I taught myself enough about music technology to be taken on as programmer/producer (but not engineer) at the main 24-track studio in the town where I grew up, and it was in the latter part of this year before I went to university that I had a jolly good stab at the whole 'lipsync to a backing track whilst doing a choreographed dance routine' thing. I think that about covers it.
  13. Wow... someone tell me which label is paying $5 to the artist per copy sold, I wanna send them a demo...
  14. Good to see the first mix is up there I'll dl it when I have a moment... One thing though; I don't mean to be precious about it but we'd appreciate it if anyone putting up a tracklist could give our tune its full name, as we feel it's important for listeners to know that the tune was recorded over 8 years ago. OOOD - Freon (1998 First Time Lucky mix) Looking forward to hearing the other mixes!
  15. Good luck Andy, you deserve the best. Looking forward to hearing the album in it's entirety...
  16. You can host mixes at both http://www.psystream.net and http://www.psytunes.co.uk
  17. Personally I think this thread is (as of today) exactly 1 month-1 day premature. But then, I would, wouldn't I
  18. It was about a Russian MP3 site illegally selling MP3s without a license.
  19. We had the exact same thread, same words and everything, on Psy-Forum yesterday - except it wasn't a poll. It's spam for a Russian compilation album of some sort I think, but no way am I clicking that link to find out!
  20. The Rhinos were always very good to me... some classic releases on that label (quite apart from ours!) - Make It Fit/VTOL is one that stands out for me. And the whole Boyd in the Void album that really helped define the UK sound of the day.
  21. This Friday we will be previewing the entire album live in the main room at Synergy Project in London, one of the UKs very biggest regular psytrance nights Anyone from the forum who manages to make it to the party should come and say hello! Party information here
