Atmos - Tour De Trance CD (Spiral Trax, December 2008)
Sideffect... replied to pr0fane's topic in 2008
"Tour de france" 3 years later.... Atmos - Tour De Trance - 2008 This is probably the wurst atmos album ever nevertheless it's still a good album. But Atmos is going really commercial here. The atmosphere is often electro/techno minded, and the use of vocals is in almost all the tracks present. From the perspective as an Atmos fan I would say I'm a bit disappointed in "Tour de France" and I was hoping Atmos would stuck to his success formula from the past. As a regular trance lover I experience this album as a great gain to trance. All tracks are again very gentle, subtle melodic and not overloaded. The baseline is good but not Atmos minded as we accustomed. So mixed feelings is the conclusion and hoping that won't be the trend for further releases (then again I've just listened to 604, so I already know, it's not hehe) Discogs: http://www.discogs.c...ce/master/34004 -

Same over here like I posted before... Can anyone post some suomi discogs links that are worth checking? I prefer it not too overloaded if possible (like I mentioned before) I'll see....

Astral Projection new album
Sideffect... replied to GOA Collection SOLD's topic in General Psytrance
And and and If they do release a new, the criticism will be sharp if it's disappointing, If people have to wait so long after they announce it, the expectations are huge imo, It's their own fault! -

Sideffect... replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Atmos is good, I still have to check the second album, I'm still enjoying the first the entire week. I hope I'll have some time to review it, I'm listening to 'tour de france" again for that reason, to make some equations if necessary... ps: a new beat bizarre, great, more then excellent!, thanx for the tip can't find it on psyshop or Google, strange... -

1 to 3 cd's a day for the next ? days!
Sideffect... replied to technosomy's topic in General Psytrance
I can't listen to the second one anymore, I've good so intense memories attached to it from the best after parties I ever had, I always have this lousy nostalgic mood when I listen to it... But those are indeed brilliant compilations. -
Wow, the graphics are great, Since I've got a new laptop, and a good/fast one, I should check this out! I hope there aren't many tasks, I'm not such a gamer, so I like shooting randomly and create hell, but tend to get bored if it's too much effort...

Shiva Chandra – The Beauty Of Noise - 2012 Simple The Beauty Of Noise Metasynth Remix Your Mind Heavy Touristic Featuring – DJ Magical The Face Featuring – DJ Magical The Last Planet Music Therapy Sometimes Different Here we are again with a new Shiva Chandra release. This is an artist that does not need any introduction at all. Since 1996 he has been present with his concept and manage to adapt it every time to the new trends of goa/psy/progressive trance. He went along with all mainstream concepts from goatrance to psytrance, progressive trance and more. There is one thing we all know about Shiva Chandra what makes his trance so unique. And that is off course his baseline. There is no such thing as a good old fashion Shiva Chandra baseline. It's always motivated, kinda funny and uplifting. It gives me that positive goa vibe what attracted me to goa in the first place so I'm always glad a new Shiva Chandra album gets released cause I know I can count on the fact that his baseline will be involved. He sticks to his pattern and that's good. He's a pioneer considering those type off baselines and has the right to do it over, and over again. And that is what you can expect from this album "The Beauty Of Noise". The latest development of psy/progressive trance combined with his baseline. It has more house element, more progressive but also more melodic but in non fluffy way. Shiva chandra was never into over melodic trance and keeps that atmosphere. In "The Beauty of noise" he really put some effort to create diversity in his melodies, synths, sound etc... In earlier albums sometimes he got criticizes allot upon to much on "only" his baseline. But that is not the cause in his latest album. He actually tried to create a concept album (considering Shiva chandra) by using a lot of different elements combining them trying to tell a story using trance as a tole... Each track has it own style and it's own individual outcome. Shiva chandra variates his baseline more and more what I applause. Each time he stops his baseline and starts with it again I experience it as a "kick" in my head. I'm not a fan off reviewing track by track anymore (I used to in the past) cause I like to leave some to the imagination and eventually listeners have to make up their own mind. But then again, it has been a while, and I'm in a good mood, so why not "Simple" is a good starter. Shiva chandra does not wait with his baseline and goes straight ahead. A very gentle track with psychedelic horn sounds. An easy soft melody that's inspiring in a great harmony that evolves, combines with his unique baseline. "Simple" has a high "trance" feeling, emotional but deep. "The Beauty of Noise" is more sturdy in it's intro and also in his baseline. It's less melodic and imo more psychedelic. It has this fairy tale atmosphere. This track is one of my favorites. Well done! "Metasynth Remix" intro is more humble and progressive minded. Rather calm sounds but it does not take long before a good baseline kicks in. The atmosphere stays the same but here Shiva chandra creates a very psychedelic warm melody that travels really nice. I love it. Trippy pauses and trance announcements make this track perfect. Again this track is one of my favorites. I've played it like a 100 times I guess as a matter of speech "Your Mind" enters a bit minimal but has a good drive. All stays very humble and half way the track a very simple but very simple melody comes along. I laughed out loud when I heard this for the first time, thinking what is this?? But to be honest it's very funny and I give him credit for this. It's not my favorite part at all but it does not spoil the album or the track. "Heavy Touristic" (Featuring – DJ Magical) is strong. Tuff baseline and mature sounds. It's more psychedelic compared to the previous tracks cause of the use of tiny/smaller and a bit more creepy sounds. Halfway the track it goes into a totally different direction with a more trance/house pattern which is pretty ok but mediocre to my ears. But still a very trippy track. "The Face" again (Featuring – DJ Magical) has a more raw tinted drive/atmosphere. The track is more repetitive but is good. This is not happy or funny but creative and is a value to the variation of the entire album. "The Last Planet" blasts off with a baseline that pounds pretty hard. This is Shiva Chandra in it's entire form as we used to know in earlier times. I like the kick a lot. Exercising on this track would be great. It's very motivating. Just like in the third track Shiva chandra manages to create a good warm psychedelic melody that caresses my ear. The undertone sounds and pauses create again that concept feeling and have a theatrical atmosphere. Great track! "Music Therapy" takes off very minimal. This is the most calm track off the album but again it feels very good and like I said before it makes it all variated. It looks like we are slowing down and easing the atmosphere. "Sometimes Different" is indeed something different. It seems you can divide this track in seperant parts. It start very minimal in baseline and melody. Trippy sounds that are knowable typical minimal are extant. Softly the track get a more house/clubby undertone for a moment. And it ends in a more progressive way. The contrast is little. Maybe I'm hearing to much but I think it's good/well done. And I'm glad it's not an ambient track. Conclusion: A good psy album, worth the money! Discogs: http://www.discogs.c...release/3598229 Psyshop: http://www.psyshop.c.../spn1cd046.html ps: Sorry for the left outlined text but I always write in notepad and when I copy paste this is the result, and I'm to lazy to fix it, it's a luxury problem for you guys , hope you enjoyed it

I haven't heard all the mixes so I'll go for the original one... that's the one I know best and listen to...

This is hard trance with a soft beat I guess. I like it. The sounds travel nice along with the baseline. 7/10 Next one: Since we are in a mood of trance that's goa minded but not "actually" goa... This is my favorite Poly 61 track... http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=80_Pjxly5V8 I have been looking for this album in good quality > 10 years but can't find it anywhere, it's rare http://www.discogs.c...release/1479733

I was thinking the same thing when you posted it. They probably didn't call it suomi back then but I know psyko disko pretty well I think your link is more then accurate... Suomi producers are probably big fans of psyko disko was the first thing that came up in my mind...
-
Thanx Ormion, I don't know much about Suomi as you see , Although I've seen/red people calling Derango suomi but then again they could be mistaken or I red it wrong... I'm always open for new music but the youtube clip. That's too noisy and nervous for my taste. It seems impossible for me to sit down, listen to this with headphones, relaxed in front of my tv... Anything less overloaded? Or are noisy, overloaded and nervous the main elements of suomi If so, then I already had a close idea what suomi is... edit: Psyko Disko is suomi? I experience that as very good melodic goatrance

Ooze – Where The Fields Never End : Revisited - (2012) Quintessence What's Up Restricted Flow Get It Done Meeting With Strange Species Trying Outwards Delicate Passage Searching Inwards Quintessence (Spatialize Remix) What's Up (Bluetech's Schaffel Dub) Restricted Flow (Evan Marc Remix) Trying Outwards (Ooze Remake) Quintessence (Koss Remix) Meeting With Strange Species (Karl-Axel Bissler Not Too Loud Remix) Meeting With Strange Species (Eitan Reiter’s Oozing My Mind Remix) Get It Done (Sebastian Mullaert’s Wander In Space Remix) Trying Outward (I Awake & Omnimotion Remix) Delicate Passage (Minilogue Remix) Restricted Flow (Porn Sword Tobacco Överväxt Kommandobrygga Remix) Where The Fields Never End (Outro) At first I thought when I saw this release for sale on the internet. Alright Ooze is back . Ooze has been one of my favorite ambient artist over the years. His release "Where The Fields Never End" released in 2001 was imo a big hit. There was not much psy ambient talent compared to nowdays so I experienced this release as a milestone together with sphongle, asura etc... The simplicity of this album is marvelous. Ooze doesn't use many layers, overloaded effects to create a psychedelic journey. It has a tribal/organic feeling. It's not emotional but more trippy. He uses this main melody pattern that's so simple but convincing. He puts his sounds in a funny way that make me smile (still). The atmosphere is not cheesy at all but takes you in a relaxing journey. It keeps me busy but doesn't surprise me (explode). It's typical for ambient from that time period that the baseline thrives doof at the background. When I looked further a got a bit disappointing. The first cd is just the same album and I don't even know if it's remastered. It sounds the same to my ears and I already have it. So no new ooze tracks here The album was good mastered in 2001 so It didn't need a new tint imo. But still it's good that it's again for sale for people that never heard of Ooze. Although this album is from 2001 it can perfectly content with todays psy ambient. If you are an ambient fan and never heard of this album, get this. You won't be disappointed. Off course, it's reviewed on pysnews back then. http://www.psynews.o...nd/#entry483474 The second cd are all remixes from other artists, the same tracks from "Where The Fields Never End". And they do sound the same. They are bit more sophisticated, added some sounds, and tinted like nowdays ambient. But imo nothing special to my ears. Some tracks are even double remixed, so... I prefer the original tracks... I have mixed feelings. It's not bad, but It's hard to see the gain or profit once and while. Maybe It will grow on me later after some years (It wouldn't be the first time that happened). But I was soooooo hoping for a new Ooze Duality and conclusion. Ooze fans, don't expect something new or groundbreaking I guess. Ambient (new) fans, go for it, you'll love it... Concise review and my 2 cents! Ah ok, I always thought Suomi was a sort of combination of darkpsy/forest? (still learning every day )

Taika kim is good, I don't know much about suomi but I've seen this guy live and it was very good. I notice that suomi artist are very talented but It's often to overloaded and chaotic for me. For instance Derango - tumult (what is said to be "the" suomi album, correct me If I'm wrong) is an album that I have listened > 5 times and I don't manage it to end it. It's to much, I'm such a pussy I would love to hear some suomi that's not that overloaded and chaotic cause the atmosphere is always super... Krumelur is also suomi (I think) and those guys I can handle. I love the psychedelic level and atmosphere = 10/10
