  1. haha! where did this inspiration come from? 8) Lots of psytrance cds put stickers in them that are the same as the album covers. If I can find the one blueroom sticker I have that is blue/orange, i will totally post it here. (the adventure finding it may be the end of me ;p) For now I should be able to find an old image of my cd player with a hologram blueroom sticker on it...(checks)
  2. hahaha! Ok, thats what I was feeling from you man. I've been on the same page then ;D and YEAH, F*CK THOSE GUYS! hahah! I too use dirty or organic to define the classics. raunchy as well. whatevas!
  3. I understand what you two mean when saying it can sound like noise but for me that is just at times. I give this album a 9/10 cuz its so stunning with its constantly storming energy and uniqueness in sound that can only be Absolum. He finds a way to distort the hell out of a lead and then electrify it to your ears. raunchy, dirty-good psytrance 8) I also never understood the type of comment where the music is best played outdoors or at a club.. I think it will always be best in such a situation to you get it loud and there is room for the sound to expand. unless you are in a cramped building with poor sound. But playing an awesome album at home will be even more awesome live.
  4. I do agree this album needs more attention and I LOVE the second thing you said. I always try to think of a way to describe psy like this. As the back of the cd case says for the tracks listed in blue for each disc - 'neuro psy' is the term and I find that term on other releases I think also by Deja Vu. But Suria does that style best. I would usually describe it as a kind of minimal psytrance since it lacks the nonstop energy. I also describe it as smart psychedelic musuic since it really pulls you in to listen and notice the amazing arrangements within the tracks. yeah, this release can claim being similar songs to one another but they definately dont sound exactly the same. this also is very different music than Logical Evolution - but still sounds like Suria. He has his own way to groove the music into your mind haha! psytrance is definately energy you react to by movements and dancing. this is a 2 disc album that requires the same BUT that you also read it like a novel. superb album I'd give an 8/10
  5. since all scenarios are pick 10 regardless, I would choose the same 10 in each situation. I must say for the natural disaster, I cant face the rest of my cds being lost or destroyed so I would just die with my collection ;p haha! I have thought about this stuff before like say, if the house burns down - how would I handle it. Green Nuns of the Revolution - Rock Bitch Mafia Cydonia - In Fear of a Red Planet Psygone - Optimystique (my introduction to the psychedelic, woo!) Electric Universe - Divine Design Cosmosis - Synergy (to me, an early hybrid of goa-to-psytrance) Medicine Drum - Supernature Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation Pigs in Space - " " Slide - Unstable Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger thats a varied amount of sound all over the spectrum. in a split second decision it would never happen though haha!
  6. Now what do you define chilly weather for NZ? Its probably still warmer than our spring ;p or exactly that
  7. you just reminded me I have another Blueroom sticker thats.. blue and orange? a larger one somewhere, possibly in a different envelope still. shoot! I was getting these from an ebay member once ;p I've only used 2 of the shiny ones.
  8. I disagree. Well first - there is plenty of oldschool and newchool not super intense. Then there are the super intense tracks from then and now. For me mostly, I find the oldschool more intense. Something about their sounds. I enjoy some newschool but its as if they are making goa on what they know it is. do this, this and this then BLAM, goa has been made. I say this since so much newschool uses the same sounds. I dont want to sound mean or picky to them since I know they but their soul into it. I guess just find a way to stick out more psychedelically than others. The old schoolers did it but they didnt have goa as a referance since they were creating the first history of it. this, added to the festivals in Berlin and Croatia this summer, make me HATE living in NY. gahh! Also the dates are bad for me as Im attending events here. one day.... yes, just post the link and it auto-embeds I want to agree but I guess define 'edge'? and is it something shared or you mean an artists own unique edge to their music? I got my thoughts of such in the first quote of this post.
  9. I 105% agree with you! this album is one of the most complete albums I ever heard. a first good impression is to have each track very different from one another. check! they all hammer home melodies and energy. sometimes loud raunchy space lazers. one thing that really sticks out in this album is the attention to detail. there is more than just the bassline and lead swirling around. little effects popping in and out at the right times make this a surreal experience. the song Dream Trip of a Lifetime is the absolute killer for me. Ka-POW!
  10. I dont have the time now to get super in-depth about the album but I am completely opposite of these other reviews. this album is on the most extreme end of what psychedelic is. you think you know weird sounds or what distortion is? think again! the aliens have landed and they want you fed ear poison. this album is as fun as it is trippy. a good chunk of these songs take those oddities and hypnoticly hypnotize you with their rhythms. animals screeching from the forest. take this album and just do it! play it loud and do something good for yourself 8) I wont give you a score to alter your judgement at all because you should try this out! hopefully thank me later ;D
  11. I was thinking Pigs in Space as well. that album - sheesh! they dont make 'em that solid, all tracks killing it, anymore.
  12. I cant decide but I will say Blueroom had some awesome holographic promo stickers. I have 1 or two still lingering about in an envelope. ;D
  13. just realized from my post in the other thread.. DOOF - YOUTH OF THE GALAXY!!! number 1 priority, screw your answers! haha! it needs to be the 7:20 length original. get those remixes outta here!
  14. haha! I have that same neon yellow vinyl ;p Honestly, this track is THE perfect example of psychedelic trance. hands down! how much it switches up its offerings and then still brings them back around for the climaxes. the intricate sound design and textures. even the blissful light moments. heck yeah dude! a fat 20/10! I need to bust this sucka out! Doof - Youth of the Galaxy - this one is special to me. the last minute is my favorite cuz its hard hitting emotionally for me. I feel something unlike any other. also, this vinyl is the only way to go for the true experience. the remixes dont live up to it and any other release with the original has it shortened a bit. some releases are mixed, hence shortening its length. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbHTKGKvAXA
  15. pump it uuuuup! Tandu - Alien Pump http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MybMS8Crsc edit: I'm also really happy to see Unconscious Collective - Flurostani Trancedance was recommended. that for sure is a hidden gem! I think it this was the one I found the vinyl to the other day in my room. Im forgetting cuz I forgot I owned it ;p
  16. ok, now you're just trying to get me worked up. IT'S WORKING! haha! I do love the edginess to Drama. has this dirty kind of scraping. so nice on the ears 8) Deliverance tho... a super-f*ckin-nova the entire way through! split personaliy at one point and still exploding.
  17. woops, forgot one.. Green Nuns of the Revolution - Atomic Armadillo I always loved 'The Fluffening' rmx on their album because the first half is fast and then it changes to slow ambient-scapes the second half for a totally badass 14 minute song.
  18. Your wish is granted I'm so glad you chose a Toi Doi track in there. Im obsessed with his work ;O I had a semi-calm nerd freakout when chatting with him on facebook one day haha! first things first! here is a song you MUST play! I posted it in the "rate the above track" thread the other day and will never stop spreading this one around. scroll to about 4:15 into this video when it is mixing it. Manmademan - Deliverance when i saw this thread I immediately got that idea, found them on FB and suggested there needs to be a 'Deliverance part 2' and they replied and have that in mind. view their page to see. (so happy!) as for Prana, 'Alien Pets' to me was the craziest of their tracks. Alphanaut - New Shows - this track is AAAAAAA! so fun haha Shamanic Tribes on Acid - Speed Freaker - I havent heard this in probably.. 9 years now. thanks youtube! this was so weird to hear from all the other goa I grew and learned with. loved it still back then, though. doh! I was going to post the same Imperial Project track as well. Im glad and surprised someone else did 8) I was playing that one really LOUD the other day. my speakers failed to melt. shame. ;p
  19. what is this shabby trance you two speak of? I sense the humor but am curious...
  20. I found the last girl in the big list attractive. the rest appear too artificial for me. nah. ;p hahah!
  21. Bummer that is what you were introduced to but Im glad it got you hooked from then on 8) That is the psytrance sound now-a-days I just cant do. 2002 was the big start for epic psy albums but 2003-4 was the golden age. I did a little project recently to once and for all find out how many artist albums came out those 2 years.. It was over a whopping 130!!!! some of the albums I didnt like but the majority of them - hell yeah! then you have all the compilations that released during that time. JUST INSANE! Not sure what you have dabbled into since the last year but if you need classic psytrance recommendations, Im you're guy ;D
  22. I thought this was a different thread and reading the first post now, I am realizing I made a mistake not telling my story, woops! ;p I was 15 or 16 years old in 2002 when I started to grow an interest in any music. My family was starting to use the computer to download music. That year my dad was into a nightly radio show called Heavy Mental that played all sorts of trance and Im guessing its the hard trance I was more interested in but at the time, it was all 'trance' to me. I should borrow his cassette tapes and see what it is ;p anyways, I decided to go on AIM chat and use their radio station to maybe find something I like. browsing the trance and techno channels. I wrote down some names from the trance channel, the few that interested me. I found this list last year and it was nostalgic. a few mainstream artists but the ones I remember for goa were Psygone tracks 'Outer Limits' and 'Twisted Minds' absolutely floored me! I believe another goa track I wrote down was one of the Shakta & Ping Pong tracks. searching these names into the download program just led me into more and more goa trance. searching up names of the ablums and artists on the internet gave me more names to search and download. It was then I realized 'goa trance' was the genre and things were already nuts haha! Im just now realizing how lucky I was to find the music that year.. 2002 and definately 2003 were HUGE for full-on psy or psytrance in general, which barely any of that was available yet on the sharing networks. just the classic goa. growing up with oldies is definately essential. furthering the story, I discovered the internet radio site DI.FM the next year on halloween day, made an account the following day and omg it was a snowball effect! so much more music to discover and friends I've made. the years have gone by fast and hard to believe I've been with this music 11 years now. At a recent party where I met a lot of new friends, it was cool to chat with them and how they came upon psychedelic trance too and that they were all only into the music for 1-3. few were around for the oldies too. any idea what song it was? in all honesty, I dont care if the music spreads much or grows tremendously. Lets keep it underground to avoid commercial sound inflation and preserve the original sound and vibe. anyone who is already a fan of this music, continue to support the artists and we'll be fine. 8) do we really want it to be the next dub-step where we cannot avoid it no matter where we go?? ;p
  23. oh my! that is one of the first songs I ran into when getting into goa. It showed up on a search using a p2p ;p I dont see it as emotional but definately trying to hit ya hard for a good time ^_- for me, it kind of faded out with so many listens but still is ok. Electric Universe - Alien Encounter - not played this album in a long time but that track is stunning. a masterpiece in soundwork, pulls you in. it puts me into space, floating, and the rest of the sounds are my curiousity of what I'll find next. so superb! 10's!! here is a beautiful track that is very different for the psychedelic medium. hypnotic the entire way through with blissful melodies. puts your mind in a trance. space goa 8)
  24. I give a 6.9 - not quite a 7. it bugs me when a track has something good then it just stops...breakdown.. rest of the track is ok. so I bought some vinyl a few months back and have been sitting on it. I played this one today and WHAT WAS I THINKING ;P love it! Long live Flying Rhino! too bad the video has poor sound. Darshan - Windchime
  25. Infinity Project - World of the Acid Dealer - well first I have that awesome hologram edition of DtG4 & it sure is pretty. as for the song, I always liked it. brilliant sound in the track but it could of been much more rhythmic with those delicious layers. I was feeling 7's with it but I'll give it 8/10. My favorite part has always been the "wah wah WAH" sounds at 4:56 my submission, you need to scroll to 4:17 in this video where it is mixing in. the track is Manmademan - Deliverance ;p I wont stop talking about this one hahaha
