  1. lol, yea I got it on file, not special order like above.
  2. The real sad story is the loss of the physical record store. Just read a story about the longest running store in NYC closing and it is a real shame. People can't discover great music if they can't go somewhere to hear it. In Portland all of the best places are gone and here in Minneapolis an institution, Let it Be records is gone. It was where I bought my first Eat Static CD; where all the DJs in town met each other to find the latest imports and the only place to find the subgenres most people have never heard about. From the 1960's until just a few years ago it stood in Downtown Minneapolis and served as a hub for music lovers throughout the twin cities.
  3. That's right, if you are talking styles then it is easy to say this music is dead or that music is dead, beaten to death by an audience that only wants to hear something that sounds like something else. The Spice Girls were popular, so 'Run the World (Girls)' was produced to sell- and I bet it does. Elvis was popular, so Justin Bieber has hit records today. Sold to the same audience Elvis sold his music to. I don't really like the industry but I have to admit that it is effective at what it does.
  4. Can't be Iceland because there are trees in that pic.
  5. This is false. There has always been a huge amount of garbage made and sold to idiots- your too young to remember the 70's and no one plays the crap anymore. With more stuff made today it may take longer for the cream to reach the surface.
  6. from the picture it looks like he's addicted to Redbull as well...so sad...
  7. I'm listening now through my mixing monitors and it sounds good to me. I think that I know what someone above was meaning about the kick, it could be punchier. Some would call it fatter or phatter. So you made the software that made the effect sounds?
  8. I actually like Lebanese music but I wouldn't be able to name any artists.
  9. http://constructedidentity.bandcamp.com/track/zebra I wouldn't say it was goa, perhaps influenced by goa and psytrance with a moderate 120 bpm It uses some of the new synths I've been loving like ACE and z3ta+ as well as some new effects enjoy
  10. My Moog little phatty can be potmapped any way you want and I'm sure Nord Wave can be as well. However, the midi output is most likely going to a VST synth. Midi learn to any parameter is what I look for in a softsynth before I buy. So, just because it my say 'cutoff' on the knob doesn't necessarily mean it is controlling a cutoff.
  11. Long time no see, Acido. I have no opinion on this topic other then to say that it is easier then ever for a creator to collect money, yet perhaps harder to get noticed.
  12. Not exactly the old Ridley, but good nonetheless. Best movie I've seen in a long time for sure.
  13. HA!, even Europeans think football (soccer) is a boring game.
  14. I was just checking showtimes for Prometheus. I'm trying to see it before I learn anything more about it.
  15. In a DAW you end up having 100s of effects... Mix-and-match randomly for sounds that are unique - lol. I also have a collection of folders with hundreds of cool sounds I've collected over the years from various sampler DVDs. AND - with my new Tascam recorder I can get a 24bit wave of something if I come across a cool sound somewhere.
  16. lol yea just read about this on BBC.
  17. Not as good as... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3uNpckJ7rc&feature=related
  18. I just use Soundforge pro to see this, but usually people do this by ear. Soundforge Pro can analyze waves up to 96kHz 32bit.
  19. AAh, the luxuriant smell of bath salts! Make them at home - in your own lab! ...And for that extra something special...add some secret ingredient!
  20. There is some way of making digital music sound 'warmer' - that is less digital. I have VSTs for my DAW that do it and I don't know if they make it sound better or if it's just a gimmic. You may or may not hear a difference.
  21. Just started reading The Universe in a Nutshell.
  22. No one uses oscilloscopes in music production, that is why you are having trouble. If you mean audio spectrum analyzer, then I would suggest Voxengo SPAN. http://www.voxengo.com/
