I bought the AKG K701's!
needle ninja replied to Malevol3nt's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Those 701's aren't appropriate for studio use; 271's get my use (abuse). Perhaps when I win the lottery I'll have headphones for every occation. -

With Sonar I have used a vst or vsti with almost every track ~ 16-20 at one time. I have no problems at the moment - had one because the 6.2 update didn't install correctly but that's fixed. I am really happy with Sonar now since I know it better, Pentagon is a great synth now that I have read the manual... I have an AMD X2 4400+ cpu with 2 GB of ram and a SATA II 160 GB harddrive also no internet, no spyware, no cookies, no viruses, etc.

The Sky Electric - Journey to Cdharrup
needle ninja replied to needle ninja's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I have already cut out a part and recorded another part, I am going to be fooling with this for months. I only know I like the beginning and I want the vocal sample at the end. I am having problems deciding how much density I want in the middle, I mean I want it sparse, but how sparse? How many layers? I don't want this to be too busy, it should relax the listener. I ended up cutting out sounds so I could put in a delayed synth, with delay it already gets busy. This is anti-pop; long smooth and mello. Thats the goal. -
No my identity is far too complex then that. I have gotten sucked into making music over the years, but it isn't something that defines me.

:lol:I am not worried about what the world wants I was looking at getting a vocoder, haven't used one in years- what is good now?

The Sky Electric - Journey to Cdharrup

So does the download work? -
Am I the only one that likes music that doesn't sound like a song ? So much is so instantly recognisable to being part of a formula that it is sickening. All popular music falls into this catagory and more and more 'psytrance'. For me the best is a stealth approach to listenability - you don't know you like it until after a while. Sometimes after it has stopped playing. I like the exprience of new horizons and unrecognizable song structure.

You should use a de-esser on the cymbols perhaps with modulation if that is possible. Anyway, good subliminal messaging Now listen to my thing,

Inspired by old soundtracks and Aphex Twin ambient I have made this soundtrack type thingy. It is an early work in progress so the final product cound be radically different. Notes: I will keep the first sound you hear. Trying to maintain a high dynamic range, recommended for larger speaker setups. Please let me know if you download works, never used rapidshare before Journey to Cdharrup

I think I will use a different site next time.

Does Everyone Here Just Like Fullon ?
needle ninja replied to needle ninja's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
Ok, I will add a new topic soon (later today or tomarrow) I probably need help with the arrangement. I love the sounds, but no idea about the rest. Its 90 bpm, sometimes restful sometimes dramatic with a little rythem to add interest. -
+1 I am not dancing 24/7 I like the sound of synths not just bassdrums!

I am working on something now that might be concidered a soundtrack, at least it is soundtrack like. Inspired by the Vangelis soundtrack to Bladerunner and old Aphex Twin ambient I started it because I just don't have very much like it in my music collection. I would like some imput from the 'veterans' on this forum because it is a unique piece. I have gotten a grand total of one comment on the sound demo and this is a 10 minute long thing (already) so it isn't like the easiest thing to upload etc etc.

do you use the arpeggiator?
needle ninja replied to Reznik's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
I always wished my Yamaha W7 had an arp on it. I have sequenced the basic 3-note arp before but I like the odd ones when you set then to latch and play different notes. Haven't used an arp in ages, however and I sort of think of them as passé. -

Half-live or just Live!

Your welcome -
You know seriously sampling cds is a joke to me. That you would miss the fun of discovering a great grove that you put together because you slole a loop or a kick or even the entire melody from someone else's recording. You are not a producer, you are a remixer! You are only an artist if what you make comes from YOU. Not the internet, not a sample cd, not some psytrance that you really like from Colin OOOD or some other artist. How hard is it to learn for yourself how to compress or EQ a kick drum to make it unique? I EQed a kick last night to limit its fequency range - how long did it take? 3 minutes total. You could spend hours listening to sample kicks for 'just the right one' --what a waste of time!!! In a perfect world, most of your time producing would be spent trying to be creative, because that is ultimately what is most rewarding, not learning new software, not downloading a new crack from the internet, and NOT figuring out how to separate a kick from an existing recording. :drama:

I hope you enjoy the fires of Hell Nemo.

If you steal, even just once you are DANMED TO BURN IN HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY !!! The music mafia will hunt you down and break your legs and rape your wife while smoking low tar cigerettes. Black clouds will form over your homestead and a plague of locusts will eat your crops. You will be compared to Skazi and children will snicker when they see your face in public and you will be........ CAST OUT

Moog sound demo I made this last night to show off the sounds that are possible with one little phatty. No other synth was used and no post-production was done. Might be a good ambient track. 320 kbs

Moog 'little phatty' REVIEW
needle ninja replied to needle ninja's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
<<Link>> I have made a sound sampling demo of little phatty sounds to give an example of what this baby can do. Nowdays most people are just using VSTis and I think that this is a shame. Not saying vsts are useless, but last night was like sex for me. Hope you enjoy. -

Half-live or just Live!
needle ninja replied to acidkills's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
It was Computer Music Magazine Sept. issue -
There are plenty that do that [google it!] Sonar is good for that so I haven't needed one.
