The Fireman (Paul McCartney & Youth) - Rushes very nice one

Vangelis - Desolation Path It just gets to me every time. Vangelis made this for Blade Runner but it wasn't used in the film. For sure it's one of his greatest tracks, but he didn't release it until 26 years later.

There are retards in every genre. Since I'm into classical piano music these days (among other things) I've been all over Youtube, enjoying recordings from pianists etc. One time I found an old and obscure recording of some composer playing his own work and I expected to read interesting and intelligent comments there. Normally I don't read much Youtube comments, because it's usually a lot of flaming and trolling etc. But the video I found was the last place on Youtube where I would except such things. Boy was I wrong..... you wouldn't believe the flaming, insults and narrow minded people posting there. To think that such people also like classical music and somehow end up watching the same video, posting crap like that... it was kind of disappointing.

What music are you listening to right now?

Filteria - Operation Pulse :posford: -
It's not that simple, because there's not much substance to work with. It would require serious talent and creativity to make something of this track for a symphonic orchestra.

Vangelis - Desolation Path extremely beautiful bladerunner-esque melancholic :clapping:

Do you feel goa/psy can compare with classical music?

Thanks for vids. Damn I would love to see a pianist like that live someday. That piece I posted has been running through my head all day. Such an overwhelming, powerful, orgasmic piece. And the end is just godly. If I could play like that I would do nothing else all day. -

piano music by S. Rachmaninov and A. Scriabin can have a really dark and crazy edge to it I just discovered this piece. An immediate favorite. God it is awesome.. Rachmaninov - Moment Musical 4 http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=pofq1m2U4fk -

I don't care much for most of Mozart's music I've heard, but if Requiem was his only work he'd still be among the all time greats. -
damn, maybe I picked the wrong instrument after all :clapping:

how about some thundering classical psychedelia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZaTzSWqXCU you can almost put a beat under it :posford: if beethoven would've had access to synths he would've put the whole goa/psy genre to shame -

There's a lot of music I play often, but nothing compares to how much I've played Klaus Schulze - Floating (the original master) I probably played it once or twice every day for 2 years straight or something....and it's a 27 min track. -

I love both electronic and classical music, they are my favorite genres in music. Classical music represents the ultimate in melody and composition. Melody, harmony, the structure of a composition, the way it develops... Expressivess, dynamics, technical ability (to play the instruments)... I think those are some of the main powers of classical music. These create emotion and atmosphere. And the performance of a piece is everything. Nothing I've heard in electronic music can be compared to the best classical music on the compositional level (except some rare new age and quasi-classical artists like Vangelis, only for a little bit...). But what is really limiting in classical music is that there's basicly a fixed set of one or more types of sounds/instruments. Electronic music creates a whole new world from the endless possibilities of SOUND (including beats/rhythms). In the most extreme case electronic music can be made only of sound(s), with no melody (ambient). Also, in electronic music even the simplest repetitive melodies can become totally awesome with the right sounds, effects and tweaks (and when paired with the right beats, basslines etc. like in trance)... while the actual melodies/notes could be totally lame when played on a piano for example. Of course there is electronic music with really good melodies, but it's just not on the same level as classical music IMO. In the end both types of music can be very beautiful, emotional, atmospheric, rhythmic, energetic, psychedelic, mesmerizing, overwhelming, relaxing, entrancing..... just in a different way! -

I like most of his etudes, preludes and piano concertos. I have 5 discs of his piano works played by Ashkenazy. -

Your absurd story about Rachmaninov, or did someone else make that up? His music has nothing to do with neither rape or goatrance. I love his music and that was nearly... insulting -

lay off the drugs? -
Cool idea. Remove the beat+bassline and basicly you have those chords and some simple repetitive melodic patterns to work with. The song is in the same key all the time. I bet it would be a real challenge to make something both interesting and recognizable of it. Good luck!

Ok but if we're going to try... it would have to be something with all kinds of fast melodies in a tight rhythm... So how about..... http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=_pY08e_tdtA Listen to the melodies at 1:09 and 2:31 ... it's trance! -

Eehh. Ok. Yes, Mozart is superior to all modern non-classical artists in....classical music! Lol. And Brian Eno... is superior to Mozart in ambient music? There's no point in comparing such artists. As for the feelings. Classical music gives me different feelings than trance. If you're looking for similar feelings as goa/psy in other types of music you might be better off looking for other electronic (dance) music.
