Blade Runner contains parts from the score combined with other music made for the movie (that didn't play in the movie). The second disc from the new 25th anniversary edition contains more music from the score and two bonus tracks in the style of the soundtrack. I think it's great. Recommended for the second disc and of course the first for those who don't have it. The third disc is all new music by V. inspired by the movie, it's pretty damn cheesy.

Vangelis - Desolation Path

Absolutely essential. A timeless classic. This album defines what I consider to be 'chillout' music. There are no weak tracks.

As for albums I can't get enough of Steve Roach - Fever Dreams 2 One of his absolute best releases. The real psychedelia in ambient. Track 5 Fires Burning, I think I put it on repeat for almost an hour one time.

Some parts are so fantastic it almost makes me cry, like the final track. To me it's just about the greatest electronic album of all time, along with a handful of others, which are also electronic/ambient/space music naturally

I admit I found looong ambient/synth pieces hard to digest when I first heard this type of music. And some stuff is still too minimal/boring for me. The thing is, if you give the music some more spins, you will get used to long-form music. You'll see the bigger picture and won't get annoyed by the repetitive aspects anymore. Only when you are a patient and persistent listener, only when you give it some time to get used to the length, the repetition and the slowly evolving structures, only then you can begin to discover what the music is really about.

Art of Noise - The Seduction of Claude Debussy - Il Pleure (At the Turn of the Century) I can't really get into the rest of the album, but this track remains completely brilliant. :clapping: :drama:

I wanted to try to make something orchestral last year. I downloaded this über orchestral sample set (vienna symphonic, illegal ofcourse) and had a lot of work to convert everything to Kontakt instruments, but then I never did anything with it. That's pretty sad.

If you want some more attention, you could post this on the hypnos forum. http://www.hypnos.com/smf/ It was reset some time ago and might appear a little inactive, but quite some artists, reviewers and other enthusiasts from the (American) ambient scene post(ed) there including Vir Unis, Numina, The Circular Ruins, Robert Rich.

Ok, first of all, this is... AWESOME The best ambient from an unsigned artist(?) I have ever heard. The track Life's Bubbling is just SUPER. Your music could be released on Atmoworks or Databloem or something right away. And that would be my only criticism as well: It is so well done and fits in too easy among the artists/albums/labels of this type of music. Maybe it lacks something unique that could seperate it from them. You could have fooled me easily if you had posted for example tracks 2 and 5 as unreleased Vir Unis tracks.

I like their Matrix music and Labyrinth for the most part, but I do hope it will be something completely different. Without guitars and orchestra to be honest.

Woaahhh this gotta be interesting! Since I find those artists and albums you mention completely fantastic Will listen carefully to this asap. :posford:

Brian Eno created many short tracks that don't go anywhere. Instead of building long and slowly evolving structures, his tracks instantly set a specific mood, take you to some place and after some minutes the tracks just fade out.... You can easily put them on repeat for some time and it doesn't bother at all.

Vangelis - Blade Runner Trilogy: 25th Anniversary - Desolation Path Awesome. :drama: -
Vangelis - Dimitri's Bar Kinda cheesy but I still like it.

I like both short and long tracks and both short and long tracks can be boring, or not. But certain moods and entrancing states can only be achieved with long, slowly developing music. Maybe some people are spoiled by short music with instant appeal and don't have the patience to listen to and discover longer slowly developing music (that requires repeated listening). You shouldn't listen to ambient with any expectations, just let it flow. Ambient is about the journey, not the destination. If you can't even listen to a track because of its length, I don't see how you can appreciate or understand ambient in general.

Vangelis - Desolation Path Wow..... :clapping: What a beautiful track, in Blade Runner style.

Vangelis - Blade Runner 25th Anniversary CD2+3 I don't expect too much of the new music, but want to check it out anyway. -
