Paul Ellis - Shining This track is so incredibly awesome it almost gives me a stiff peepee. -
Ash Ra Temple - Ocean of Tenderness From New Age of Earth (1976). Especially wonderful when the guitar comes in. Sasha - Baja If you don't know this one, I think the (psy)chill people are gonna love it. Blu Mar Ten - Adrift on Deep Water I love this chilled drum'n bassy track. It would be the perfect track to play while floating on an airbed near some sunny paradise beach. Chicane - Saltwater Chicane - Offshore They all have fitting titles =)

Steve Roach - Lifeforming Steve Roach > all. It is official. Electronic music can't get any cooler, deeper and more spaced out than this. Period. -
I listened for a short while but it starts off pretty slow. Gonna give a good listen in bed tonight =)

There are already a couple of topics about Namlook and his Fax label with good recommendations. If you want to buy there's a whole bunch of FAX releases that can probably best be bought online (itunes and other mp3 shops). Schulze and Namlook only worked together on the Dark Side of the Moog (I-X) series. I read that Namlook had a hard time convincing Schulze to start with the DSOTM project, but when he played for Schulze some tracks of his Air album it did the trick (Air 1 and 2 would be great Namlook starters) Klaus Schulze's music is generally very different from Namlook's stuff and I would be really careful what to get. Better begin with his great classics from the 1970s like Timewind, Moondawn, Mirage, X...I'll love them forever. These have all been reissued in the last years with bonus tracks (for better or worse). His 80s and 90s music can be really weird, or cheezy or awkward stuff with bad choice of sounds etc....I don't even want to know more of it. Real kitch sometimes. But then again some of his collaborations with Ash Ra Temple and Pete Namlook are really good.

It's a true classic. (don't get the live version performed by some orchestra it sounds really stupid IMO).

On the subject matter... I think I've heard Rainbow Dome Musick sometime but I don't really remember it. I can recommend Ash Ra Temple/Ashra/Manuel Göttsching for a(nother?) great guitarist/electronic music pioneer.

Wow. Well tastes differ. =) Ozric Tentacles are my favorites of the artists mentioned in this topic. For their vibrant, atmospheric and varied music and their great sounds, melodies, technical skill and ability to play..... they do have quite some mediocre tracks but I judge 'm by their best tracks. And Bored of Canada bores the hell out of me, they sound so uninspired and without spirit to my ears.

First one that comes to mind now is: Steve Roach - Kairos It seems over the years his sound and sounds have become so polished, slick, original and of high quality, that most chill/ambient artists sound cheap and simple in comparison. It's bloody awesome, especially with headphones. So much depth and room in his sound... from the lowest to the highest frequencies, it's all very well balanced and blasts through your ears in crystal clear quality. But there's of course a lot of electronic music that sounds great.

if you checked the ambient topics I'm sure I already mentioned these before anyway, my ultimate space ambient top 3: 1. Steve Roach - Magnificent Void 2. Michael Stearns - Planetary Unfolding 3. Lustmord - Place Where The Black Stars Hang Haven't heard serious contenders for this top 3 yet, though there's tons of good stuff.... these 3 however are pretty much unbeatable when it comes to pure space music. But perhaps you're looking for more 'minimal' drone music, in that case I can't really help.

Steve Roach - Kairos http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=44026 Robert Rich - Propagation Raison d'etre - In Sadness, Silence and Solitude Tetsu Inoue - Organic Cloud Vidna Obmana - The River of Appearance Pete Namlook & Klaus Schulze - Dark Side of the Moog IX Paul Ellis - The Sacred Ordinary just a small selection

Steve Roach - Infinite Shore Deep washes of majestic space sounds gently flow over each other, like waves coming to shore... together they create an inspiring and imaginative symphony....the sounds are playfully talking to each other, creating beautiful harmonies and atmospheres. The greatness of this piece of ambient art is beyond question. The only question is if you can comprehend its depth and beauty.
