  1. Juno Reactor - Kaguya Hime pretty cool actually, never really noticed this track
  2. If you're making melodic music it's nice to have some feeling for melody and it can be very helpful to have played an instrument. But I don't think I've heard much electronic music that would require real knowledge of composition like say, in classical music. I'm not impressed when these artists have a degree in anything...it doesn't mean that their music is gonna be better in any way.
  3. Klaus Schulze - Friedrich Nietzsche and when it stops there can be only silence, because any other electronic music will sound like lifeless ear-pudding after this
  4. I think Human Blue as well self taught musicians can be just as good or even better because they are perhaps less bound by rules
  5. Tangerine Dream - Tangram Set 1 Many different themes sort of woven together.....some very happy and uplifting parts and some subtle and beautiful parts as well. All in all a lot of mood changes. Sometimes it's bordering cheesyness, but overall it's way too good to be cheesy. Very playful synth music. Lovely analog sounds. Great piece! genre: whatever...let's call it classic synth music this time
  6. ever noticed how simple the bassline in Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea is? very simple, but very effective
  7. I think this will be a very nice topic if everyone just takes a little time to write a few words about the music they are listening. In the off topic section it would be ruined.
  8. Air - Ce Matin Là I love this short track. It's the perfect happy track.. it's sort of childishly happy, like when you were completely unknowning and without worries. This music is so perfectly put together. The cool melodies will make you smile.
  9. DEAD CAN DANCE - CANTARA one of my favorite tracks ever
  10. so damn expensive... I recently spend the same amount in € on a new PC Have fun with it Otto if you want to do everything legal you may have to spend lots more on VSTi's http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=komplete4_us like this (WOW @ Komplete 4....must....have)
  11. you should but I only picked this year because it's 30 years ago almost anything from these artists (including kraftwerk) in the period 1975-1980 is great and in a lesser degree also 1970-1975 and 1980-1985 or so...... after that perhaps only some occasional good stuff..
  12. there's something about the sounds and the spontanious nature of the music... it's more alive than a lot of today's electronic music... maybe because it doesn't sound so perfect because of the analog hardware and old recording techniques also they are great musicians who are good in a technical way and also good with composition/melody...they really used their synthesizers as instruments of course I like a lot of modern electronic music as well but it seems something from that golden period is lost...and will never return again which ones?
  13. Nodens Ictus - Way of the Wind Wonderful track, second half is so beautiful.
  14. Joris Voorn - Incident you might like this one too, Oopie
  15. 1976: Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Vangelis - Albedo 0.39 Klaus Schulze - Moondawn Ash Ra Tempel - New Age of Earth Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear All superb albums. =) Only Kraftwerk is missing. I don't like them because they are considered as classics, I wasn't even born then, I like them because I honestly like the music very much. I can't imagine any list of electronic music anno 2006 is going to beat this..... according to my personal taste and way of rating music. Sometimes when I listen to the 1970s classics again (yes, I'm a fan), I think electronic music has devolved, one way or another... (you may try to prove me wrong, but it will be pointless )
  16. thx Otto I think you've heard most of my worthwhile stuff (I put them in a zip file months ago)... no recent tracks I'm afraid... and of course I appreciate your feedback.
  17. They are older tracks that some have probably heard before =) Otto; I agree the tracks are not very expressive, but they were meant as smooth relaxing ambient tracks. Also all the sounds from these tracks are from the same Roland synth, that's why it may sound a bit limited and flat. Thanks for listening guys.
