What music are you listening to right now?
Bahamut replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Steve Roach - The Magnificent Void - Altus Fascinating. A bit of light breaks through at the end of the greatest ambient album of all time. -
Ok... Andrea Bocelli - Ama credi e vai (Because we believe) The song from the Olympics. Guilty pleasure or not. Whatever! I like it.

So is there really a direct reason to ban him, like a serious personal attack or racism or spam or something? Seems you banned him because he doesn't fit in your world and because you can't handle someone that is different. For 'excersising poor tact' ... whatever, then you should ban NHJOHYENNRO and radi as well. Surely you understand that a lot of his posts and topics were not meant to be taken too seriously or personal. From what I've seen, I don't think it was his goal to disrupt this forum. Besides, it is the members of this forum who chose to reply to his posts and topics so frequently in a serious manner... they contributed to it all the time and now all of a sudden people are getting irritated.

It works like I said. Nobody here has been proscecuted for downloading MP3s or owning copies of CDs, because it is not illegal for the reasons I stated...this has been confirmed by Dutch government and in jurisdiction. I think this is also the case in other countries but I can't tell you exactly which ones.
-
Do I have to copy/paste my previous post.....?
-
Downloading MP3s is not stealing. You cannot own music, you can only have exclusive copyrights to it. So it is not a question of stealing other people's property. In some countries, downloading MP3s that are shared without copyrightholder's permission (= a violation of copyrights, virtually anywhere in the world I think) is not a violation of copyrights. Like in the Netherlands, but I'm sure it goes for other EU countries too because it is not forbidden by EU guidelines. Here downloading MP3s is 'making a copy for private use'. Just like you are allowed to make a copy of a page from a copyrighted book. The source of the material you are copying (/downloading) from doesn't have to be legal. In other words, downloading an illegaly shared MP3 for private use is not forbidden, as long as you don't share with others. My personal opinion is not stated in the above.

Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown (G&M Project Remix) -
It's software for editing/organizing patches on hardware synths via MIDI... as most synths can be completely externally controlled (I think, well at least mine can) Also comes in handy if you want to transfer patch banks from the internet to your own synth. What synth you want to use it for? I'm think there is quite a lot of freeware specifically made for one synth or a series of synths, made by enthusiast

ROBERT RICH - THE OTHER SIDE OF TWILIGHT it's simply a masterpiece of electronic/ambient/space music that I think y'all should hear.. let it unfold patiently and experience something profound

Juno Reactor - Pistolero I had almost forgotten how cool it is. -
I like the melancholic chords, seems a very nice intro to me. But after a couple of minutes maybe you could spice it up with some subtle, airy 'swoosh' sounds and some more FX.. also the second part where the higher notes come in sounds a bit too digital... I wouldn't hold these notes for too long. I like the warmer sound of the first part better.

If there was one tip I would pass on to another pc
Bahamut replied to Stalker's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
My tip: Once you have a basic idea, a basic set of sounds, an acceptable starting point, you will have to start expanding the track, while gradually making it a complete song... or give it up and start all over again with something completely new. Cuz my experience is this: I start with a basic idea, but I always keep adding and tweaking things until it's a complete short snippet. It could already be the 'climax' of the track for example... but then I still have to make an entire track out of it... and that can become a pretty uninspired process if you already put so much effort into that first snippet. So I think this is not a good way to do it, but I can't help it. I keep fooling around with the same snippet over and over again, changing things, playing melodies on the synth... sometimes spending a whole afternoon or evening with basicly the same loop.....then it keeps playing in my head until the next morning. By that time I'm usually so sick of it that I will most likely never touch it again... so it becomes another one of the hundreds of unfinished snippets (I delete them). -
Anyone added him on MSN? Must be awesome to have an actual conversation with him, totally surreal.

Interacting Music Making Thread
Bahamut replied to Psychocell's topic in Music Making and Production/Industry
1) What programs you use, and any hardware instruments, midi controllers, etc (PC Specs too)? 1 GHz PC, Cubase VST32 5.1, Audiophile 2496, bunch of softsynths/samplers, Roland XP-80 (techno+vintage card) 2) On average, how long does it take you to build and finish a Song? IF I create something I think at most 25 hours total. 3) Which parts do you find tedious when building your track (if any), if it pattern sequencing, automation, etc? To make it sound how I want it to sound. 4) Where did the inspiration come from to start producing music? Music. 5) AND Your favourite style to produce? Ambient/electronic. Last short track I made: http://www.psynews.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=30967 -
Simon Posford only makes music because Chuck Norris allows him to. However, Chuck found the third Shpongle album to be an insult to his intelligence, so he is currently training with the Delta Force to invade Posford's studio and destroy all his projects, patches and sample CDs.
