  1. by using big analog modular synths =)
  2. Ok, here's my top 5 of this year's discoveries: 1. Paul Ellis - Shining 2. Future Sound of London - My Kingdom 3. Manuel Göttsching - E2/E4 4. Nodens Ictus - Way of the Wind 5. Redshift - Mania
  3. Thanks for listening After listening to it myself again I now see that track 6 and 7 don't fit together, it's just a silly transition and sort of ruins the flow, but other than that I'm quite happy with it.
  4. Hmm, I suggest to check out this typical all owning "you cannot miss it and it's not hard to begin with" type of track Robert Rich - The Other Side of Twilight.
  5. Here's mix number 3. Again a diverse selection of tracks by some of my favorite artists. There's beatless ambient and also more uptempo chill music. Space & Earth http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JGE0FT1R Playtime: 46:03 Tracklist (most tracks are not used completely): 1. Vidna Obmana - The Angelic Appearance 2. Brian Eno & Harold Budd - Wind in Lonely Fences 3. Steve Roach - Offering in Waves 4. Telomere - Microcosmos 5. Jonn Serrie - Outreach 6. Nodens Ictus - Way of the Wind 7. Klaus Schulze - The Rhodes Elegy (fragment) 8. Klaus Schulze, Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell - Three Pipers at the Gates of Dawn part 2 9. Vir Unis - We Are The Sun's Dream 10. Steve Roach & Robert Rich - Touch Beautiful atmospheric music for late night headphones listening, enjoy! (link to previous mix: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2B4D5EPO)
  6. I just finished mine and I'm currently trying to upload... so hang on, maybe it will make you feel a little better
  7. Thanks for the interesting review. I can only recommend "The River of Appearance" from this artist. Which isn't dark/experimental/industrial/rhythmic at all. It is pure soundscape music and it's some of the most beautiful ambient I've heard. Simply heavenly!
  8. Thanks for your input. I've also tried Kontakt but the results are about the same. I guess it also depends on what you define as 'audible loss of quality', because I can hear any change above 1 BPM or so... especially when the tempo goes up.
  9. That's fantastic, you can add your tracks to his site and get NHJO's expert opinion.
  10. Your 5 favorite tracks this year, release date is irrelevant. Just music you heard for the first time in 2005. Any style of music. PROCEED!
  11. Ok, I have 2 tracks, one at 140 bpm, the other at 149 and I want to mix them. So I change both their tempos to about halfway at 144 bpm while keeping the pitch intact (I want that because they are in harmony at some point)... but now both tracks sound fucked up. So I guess this method is only useful for changing tempo with 1 or 2 BPM at max? It seems 4 is a bit too much. I use Mixmeister btw. Is there better software for timestretching or is it simply impossible to get this right?
  12. I'm gonna listen right now. That was a smooth one indeed... good selection, nice mix! I'd say we both should make another one
  13. Maybe he is one of the Quacken´s minions, sent on a mission to gain control over us by using subliminal messages in his wicked tunes... or maybe he´s just some crazy Korean.
  14. Klaus Schulze, Pete Namlook & Bill Laswell - Three pipers at the gates of dawn part 2
  15. Wow cool track... it's very diverse, I like that. Doesn't get boring. Great melodies in the second half. Way to go!
  16. Klaus Schulze - Der Lauf der Dinge Time to be quiet and reflect on my life while listening to these beautiful and powerful hypnotic sounds.
  17. Delerium - Wavelength AAAAAaahhhhh the perfect dark, haunting, foreboding music. What a masterpiece, I notice new details every time.
  18. good: Off The Sky - Gently Down The Stream ok: Steve Roach - Possible Planet disappointing: Pete Namlook & Klaus Schulze - Dark Side of the Moog X
  19. Beethoven - Symphony No 7 part 2 My experience with Beethoven so far: always genious beautiful melodies, but after a while it becomes repetitive and starts to irritate me.
  20. Well, I guess it has meaning to those who agree with it and who like to place all music they hear in little categories...
  21. If this is boring then what ambient isn't... This one will stand the test of time, for me at least. Especially the first 2 tracks, loud and with heavy bass, man it's such a rush... ambient with energy! Most artists from the psy ambient scene could not produce anything remotely like this, unless it was all on sample cd's
  22. Steve Roach - Cell Memory Haha he's such a freak. I just read that for this he only used a modular synth.. he created patches, let them running and evolving for days.. while adjusting and tweaking regularly... the whole thing was recorded, so afterwards he could look for the best passages
