I re-quoted myself. Gotta get back on track then. Soon. Seems like I missed out on some goodies which were not destined to be missed. Not intentionally, that is.

I just don't see Extrawelt on Cocoon. It could be that I'm out of the loop, but Extrawelt's music sounds too menacing and sinister to my ears. Or, should I put it better, it's too deviant for an average Cocoon head. Or not? Naturally, a forthcoming Minilogue album is always goof news. Oh boy, I can hardly way to plaaaaaaay it.

Forgot to drop a line or two about this mix. Just gave it another listen and here's what I thought of it... For some (un)known reason, I find it to be extremely psychedelic and mesmerizing. I had both of my eyes focused on an unidentified dot on my computer monitor for an hour and some change. After taking a few minutes to drag me in, I got completely lost within the complex universe of computer screen pixels. The sum of its parts is much greater than the single stand out tracks, which to be honest, are not found here. Not a single tune will float around my head for days to come, while the entire mix most probably will. There is no turntable wizardry here, but I doubt Klik-Klak-Klan intended to have any. The transitions are made in a smooth matter, just the way I'd wanna hear 'em in a DJ set like this one. Listen to it, start to finish, without getting interrupted. Nice job.

Despite their music being at least solid to very well done, they are starting to enter that category of artists which somehow just manage to snatch a spot on everybody's mixes lately. Sometimes an exceptional artist gets to annoy people if his music gets over exposed, or should I say better, played everywhere by every DJ, be it a major star or a 16 year old zit face rocking a basement party. James Zabiela does not fall far behind, and Satoshi Tomiee is a true master whose sounds I am still recovering from, as he is massive in Croatia, so I'm kinda fed up of him as well... However, friday night there's a hard techno, back 2 back all nighter in Zagreb, so this mix should do the trick during those after hours. Will let ya know, naturally!

Downloading on the double, as the tracklist really intrigued me, despite the presence of certain acts which seem to reappear over and over again lately, thus boring me to death. This mix however, looks worth listening throughout, let alone owning Most definitely will I be dropping some feedback as soon as I'll have a solid 210 minutes of spare time, which should be saturday morning, when the after party shall be held @ my crib.

Bigger the challenge, more chances of you getting constructive opinions and thoughts from other users Why not give it a shot? So what if someone does not agree with your perception of the compilation? The mere fact any random forum user may or may not appreciate what you wrote implies he/she read it. I think that is probably the greatest sign of recognition a reviewer can get. If your opinions ignite discussions, it means that you're getting feedback, be it good or bad.

What music are you listening to right now?
rino replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
Awesome cover!!! Never ever heard of the act/album though, but I'm on discogs right now just to check what it's all about! The cover is ace, like a poster for an old Dracula flick or sumthin'... -
Etnica- Baraka Solar Fields- Time slide Senzar & June Rashava- Beautiful you Speedy J- Lanzarote Western Rebel Alliance- Slewake As far as albums are concerned, any given tracks off either From Within 1 or From Within 2. I am not really a Namlook expert here, but right after the first Dreamfish album come these two as his finest collabs ever. Nothing I've ever heard since quite matches the magic Richie Hawtin and Peter Kuhlmann pulled off on those two albums.

In my humble opinion, this still ranks as one of the nicest surprises of 2006! Kagdila Records brings us the second installment of the Peace Therapy series, and just looking at the tracklist makes one buy this release with haste; Chi A.D., Khetzal, Goasia, Synsun and Aes Dana. The heavyweights are all in check. But in my opinion, it is the more obscure and unknown acts that snatch the crown away here. "Beautiful You", a collaboration between two relative newcomers, Senzar and June Rashava, is a downtempo number as good as any I've ever heard, and it went immediately on my all time top 10 list of chill tunes! The piano stabs combined with June's vocals are a marvellous combination of pure emotion and floating, dreamy music. The stand out track here- fantastic! I read a while ago that June Rashava is working on her solo ambient album packed with vocals resembling the ones on "Beautiful You". Yeah, you got it, I can't wait. Azriel, who by now has already released some tracks on Avigmatic Records compilations, brings us "Les Weirns", a mid tempo goa trance track, and I always had a thing for those. The long track takes some time to properly develop, and followed by a short break, the last three minutes are pure magic. Azriel plays around with, and twists the lead melody, creating a magnificent climax, and then slowly breaks everything down, bringing the track to a grand finale. It is tracks like this I've always wanted to hear more of. Music that oscillates between goa and ambient, that flirts with both without being confined within the boundries of just one. Great job, Azriel. Chi A.D. and Khetzal, neither of which needs introduction, deliver top notch tunes. And it's always a pleasure to see a veteran like Dave Young still active on the scene, constantly pushing out excellent music. "Fluid Cluster" is nothing short of what you'd expect of him. "Chips Tree" is fabulous, especially the second part of it, after the track is broken up into two segments- the first one ends when the music slowly fades out, and a sudden sample of a howling wolf brings it back to life. Sweet. Matthie Chamoux has been one of the most talked about new school goa trance producers, and this is just another diamond in the champ's belt. Fans have been asking for that new album, and as long as he keeps on dropping immaculate tunes wherever his name appears, it is most likely that will remain a hot topic for times yet to come. That said, I'm not too crazy about the rest though: both, the Aes Dana and the Synsun tracks have been released back in 2004, and the Goasia track, whilst nice, has been floating around for quite a while prior to getting released here. I would have prefered to have some more new music, but the way things are, all three track are nice additions to the compilation, well worth listening to. Vincent Villuis fans must know "Opal-in" by heart though, while the Synsun track has fabulous music completely devastated by what must be the single most irritating female vocal over a chill track my ears have ever come across. Hell, poke Mickey Mouse in the eye with Slinky Wizard's shitty stick and you might get a vague idea of what the vocals sound like. And the fact it's already been released on their 2004 album Symphonic Adventures only helped "Tataria" gain the fast forward button status in my stereo. The Goasia track is overall nice, but placing it as the closing number is a cardinal sin. No matter how picky it may seem, I just cannot see "Sunny Morning" effectively closing this compilation. The first track by Master Margherita is not that great either. Its main flaw is that it's just not musical enough. Sure it serves as an introduction, but for well over five minutes the listener is exposed to some sort of a prayer spoken in a language most probably unknown to a vast majority of those who listen. What gives? If I needed a soundtrack while touring the Taj Mahal I might have given it a few more tries, but it just bugs the hell out of me now. Astral Wave's "Shanti" is no different. If I had refined linguistical capabilities, maybe the track would reveal a dimension I've yet not discovered due to restraints in my comprehension department. Both artists have done better. Imagination Corp. has their debut here as well, and they deliver. Nothing astounding, but it isn't skip material either. The violin is something I have a soft spot for, and it really adds a more mature and instantly appealing melodic touch. I'm digging the vocals too, moreso with every new listen. All in all, four great tracks, and the rest is far from throw away material as well. What I dig the most about this compilation is how it avoids to sound like another one of those drony, beatless and floating ambient compilations which I just don't like. Elements of dub are also brought to a minimum here, to my liking. Dub is acquired choice, I know it doesn't make everyone's day, so the smile off my face did not want to rub off for a long time after realizing that its elements are omissible, without tarnishing the overall beauty of the music. Keeping that in mind, Peace Therapy Vol. 2 won't please everybody. Those looking for mellow and spacey ambient music will want to search elsewhere. There is enough beats and bass here to insert at least half of these track somewhere near the end of your goa trance set. It is relaxing and soothing music, yes, more suitable for some home chilling or playing in your headphones while strolling through the park with your dog, though, rather than sleeping, getting hypnotized or dragged into the deeper realms of space. Bottom line is: if you're after some quality psychedelic downtempo music courtesy of some of the most renowned modern artists, accompanied by a few fresh names, I really suggest you give it a try. My verdict: 4/5

Can you tell me something about the guys of Ayahuasca
rino replied to radi6404's topic in General Psytrance
"Classic" stuff. -
Nice one I will download it for sure! I still remember the track Senzar & June Rashava did for the V/A Peace Therapy 2, which I simply adored, and seeing these two names again on the same compilation really intrigues me. As soon as I grab hold of some time I'll listen to it. And I don't even like ambient, but I'm still hyped up!

A - L - L of them are more than good. Above great, to be exact.

Cool re-releases, I don't have neither of them, but have been aware that they've been out there for quite some time. I reckon they're both out of stock for a whil now. I remember trying to purchase a copy of "Radio" for a friend some time ago and that it was sold out everywhere... That still the case? I wouldn't mind having another copy of "Dragon Tales"

Blue Moon U.K Sampler / Unreleased Dimension 5 tunes
rino replied to djzen's topic in For Sale/ Trade
The postcards and the flyer are awesome, almost worth bidding for! The music, on the other side, is taster's choice. The unreleased version of Bombed Out is something I'd die to hear, the rest I could care less about. The Chi-A.D. classics, which were released on uncountable other releases, are all ace material. -
Fanatastic trader! Hooked me up with a brand new CD I've been after for quite a while. Item arrived fast, safe & sound. What more could you ask for? Communicative, very friendly and great to negotiate with. Highly recommended!

It seems like you reaaaaaaally got the kicks out of listening to this one...

Freshly Cut Tomato (Cronomi Records)
rino replied to Mike A's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
Respect. Quite a few psynewers doing their thing there. Congrats to all involved -
I second that. I'll point out some examples: the legendary Cortex Thrill project, which used to record music for the then legendary Bonzai Records label, is originally from Zagreb, but I have never seen any of their old releases floating around here. Let alone those old Petar Dundov classics, recorded under his Unreal Project, Pon Farr or Parallax, which are all excellent, and are probably available in Siberia, but God forbid any shop would have them in stock over here
-
No offense to anybody, but is an album of such magnitude really available in Amsterdam? I remember when I was there, the music shops left me very disappointed. Nothing out of the ordinary or hard to come by. The usual electronic music every self respecting CD shop has in stock. Maybe I did not dig deep enough?

I like to listen to schranz when I'm drunk A few weekends ago after one too many beers, TRB's 3 hour brutally hard techno set was just what I needed to hear I get nostalgic when I'm home alone and bored to death, without money or alcohol.

A moment of truth: few exceptions set aside, I don't enjoy the regular dream trance at all. Albums like Influx' debut, some early Platipus and Eye-Q Records releases I find to be very impressive, but most of those CDs just collect dust on my shelf, as the more time goes by, the more childish I find that music. Honestly. Feel free to blaze torch my face, but listening to an album like "Wildlife On One" in 2008 really provokes no feelings... Around a decade ago, any track off that album sent me to orbit around Earth, now I just find it plain annoying. Guess I just don't get the kicks out of trance like I used to.

VA - Opus Iridium [Suntrip Records / SUNCD10]
rino replied to mars's topic in Artist News and Labels announcements
This is a massive string of artists clashing all in one place. Naturally, top of the line names don't necessarily imply spectacular music, and Suntrip has some seriously high expectations to live up to, so I'll wait until I get the proper release in my hands before the praising. But I'm all excited, yeah. This is in my next big order :posford: -
OUCH! Rino enters a time machine. Axel Stephenson is (certainly was) a fucking genius!

With a little bit of luck, and a quick response from the site owners, as they can sometimes answer after you've contacted them 3-4 times, you could actually end up buying a new and still sealed copy from here: http://www.melt2000.com/
