Holy crap, I guess the ever changing trends have left me a tad behind, but it wasn't up until a few days ago that I gave the remastered, 2xCD version of Ulrich Schnauss freshman album, "Far Away Trains Passing Buy" a proper listen... Damn. It sounds about four to five times better than it did back in 2001, and in addition to that, the extra CD is a treasure chest! Some of his melodies are cherubic, and... nothing more, just that, as if it wasn't enough The harmony he forges and evokes in his tracks at times even surpasses production from soulful electronic music luminaries such as Carl Craig or Suburban Knight. Really dreamy music this guy makes. Not for frequent plays, but when I am in the mood, I can hardly think of anything more suitable. But I guess I ain't givin' any breaking news folks, am I?

About two years ago (plus maybe a few weeks more), I remember asking a quesion about V/A Fluorotronik, and getting a response by Kalle (if that is the name of the guy who runs things at Tranceform; anyways, he said something along the lines how this particular release would never see the light of day, despite the fact he had plenty finsihed and authentic copies by his side in the cellar. I have no idea whether this is true, let alone any proof to verify his statement, but truth be said, since this guy practically disappeared from the face of planet Earth, I seriously dobut any of us will ever get a chance to hold to a physical copy of this release in our palms...

Man Arthan smacks approximately 90% of the scene with plastic bags loaded with hot urine across their cheeks. In addition to that, he displays more styles than Naomi Campbell. I mean, his album better go that one extra yard further, or else... It's back to the drawing board, man!

Wow, funny how much of a difference can a pair of ears create I got into the old Psychaos sound because I always thought how he had nothing whatsover to do with indian influences. It was always his dare-do, raw and mechanical approach to music which I liked! I actually find the old school Psychaos to be as detached from eastern influences as an old school producer can get. However, your listing of Dense Dawn here (one of my favorite Sidhu tracks) just made me go through my entire Psychaos vinyl back catalogue...

This is remarkable stuff, nothing less. I just want to warn Cronomi: if music this good is given for free, then I want the releases I will be paying for to be twice as nice, which is, given the standards set by your last compilation, a tough achievement for anybody! Quality through and through, Artha delivers a breed of psy trance which I haven't heard done this well for more than I can remember. Detailed, aggressive, well thought out, and most important, listenable at virtually any given occasion, and effective regardless of your mood. I absolutely adore how Artha just builds, morphs and adds layers to already existing sequences and leads, as even the longest track here doesn't have a dull second in it. To me, however, the largest plus of them all is gained because Artha seems to be the only artist around who realized how goa trance isn't necessarily about sun rays and rainbow colors. Not that I mind sunny days and warm weather, but some of us actually prefer dancing before six in the morning, and I don't want Kindzaza or any of his derivatives to be my night time soundtrack, and no, no disrespect intended. Second to that, another plus goes to the fact that his sound isn't encompassed within the rigid borders of any determined style and/or subgenre. Damn it, he just makes fantastic psy trance, period. His music is just out there, far reaching stuff which doesn't rely on any conventional elements, structural patterns or arrangements in order to satisfy demands of a targeted audience. I really, really like this EP. I just openly and honestly hope his album won't let down. One too many times has it happenned that a promising act bit the dust and swallowed the ashes. Fingers crossed. Excellent work here!

Damn, double thread.

Once Upon A Time In America is my all time #1. Second and third place would be a tough call, but there has never been, there is none today, and never will there be any doubt about my favorite movie of all time!

I seriously don't know what makes me laugh more: Snapinho's reply or his bar none avatar. I actually took the risk and logged in from my office just to add four smileys! Anyways, don't know why, but as far as sexy electronic music producers go, I'd do Miss Kittin after she talks me into doing it in french. Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir, Mademoiselle Herve? Meh, certaiment, rino, tu est tres jolie! Merci, mon cherie!

Man just go to beatspace. Their customer service, communication and shipping prices are out of psyshop's third league - division east. Can't say much about saikosounds, but I bought my copy of "V/A People Walk Funny" off beatspace. Yeah, it was months ago, but maybe they still have it. I guess you will find that out yourself if you give it a shot Happy shopping!

Not only does this have what is arguably Pleiadians' all time greatest track, but the rest of this CD is loaded with memorable tracks as well. This has got to be my favorite old school goa trance compilation, and if I got that one wrong, then it has got to be the one with the most rotation in my player during the last decade and some change. From the classic opener by the Pleiadians and the finest of the three versions of Astral Projection's Time Began With The Univers, to Quirk's trippy, robotic and sinister Robotized, followed by two storming tracks which are exclusive to this compilation, Whirling Dervish and Sedom, both of which end up exploding with thick and dense layers of effects and lead melodies, and then ending things by closing with two very melodic, catchy and immortal tracks, involving highly acclaimed producers like Boris Blenn, Kristian Thinning and Tsuyoshi Suzuki. In brief, I see no flaws here. Apart from Typhoon's Overure, which hasn't aged as well as the remaining music here (which is often case with a lot of Total Eclipse's older tracks), the other tracks here are all vintage old school stompers. Be it amazing and complex melody work, acid drenched tunes, uplifting dance floors orientated stuff or just nervous psychedelia, this release covers it all. I must have listened to this hundreds of times and have never gotten bored. From me, this one gets the maximum amount of points This is seriously good. Otherwise, I can rarely be caught playing the same release for years, but this one somehow always paves its way through to the CD player. I guess that is a valid argument in its favor. Or not...?

Seriously now, as far as psy trance goes, nothing topped "V/A People Walk Funny" for me this year. That guys who runs the label, I want him to come down to Zagreb and pay him a beer or two. Then I'd shoot him, because his compilation is good enough that it has left me with virtually nothing to bitch about. Which is a shame. Joke. Massive respect for that release, though. I haven't felt that good about a psy trance orientated release since Twist Dreams dropped some years down the line. That one was a clear step above their debut "V/A Freshly Cut Tomato", so I guess only time will tell if they can out match the sophmore release now...

My picks of 2009, despite there is still some making up to do, would roughly look like this: Jeff Mills - Sleeper wakes (Third Ear) (what is this? Does this guy get only better the more wrinkles he gets? One of his best albums yet!!!) Joris Voorn - Balance 014 (EQ Recordings) Planetary Assault Systems - Temporary suspension (Ostgut Ton) Those would be the albums, as for vinyls, these made a mark: Ancient Methods - Third method (Ancient Methods) Ancient Methods - Fourth method (Ancient Methods) *for me, Ancient Methods are the best project I have listened to since the demise of BMB Surgeon - Hello Oslo (Counterbalance) Ugandan Methods - Mat Oput - 1/2 (Downwards) Oscar Mulero:Svreca - As this as christ (2009) Robert Hood - Superman/Range (M-Plant) Your turn now!

I tend to agree on this one. IMHO, despite going against the current here, Koxbox have never really recaptured the magic and intensity they achieved and portrayed on their debut album... But that may just be a whole other discussion! However, judging from my own experience, the first time I honestly felt like something really wrapped itself around my brain and teleported me to the outer regions of the universe was when I first listened to Planet B.E.N.'s debut album "Trippy Future Garden". Sure, stuff like Pleiadians, Ubar Tmar and early BOTHB all make the cut, but I have never again experienced the feeling "Trippy Future Garden" left me with. The music is so detailed, rich in texture, with thick and warm layers of whatever... don't know how to describe it. I guess the fact that it has been a regular in my CD player for a firm decade now says a lot about the impact it had. It's not designed strictly for the dance floors, it's not really for chill sessions or meditiation either, actually it isn't for anything in specific, yet it somehow always works. I love it! Funny thing is, many of my friends do to, psy trance addicts or not. How sad Ben Wierzoch never came up with anything remotely similar.

Hold it right there, that is one hell of a fine cover! It actually looks good enough that I'd enlarge it, frame it and nail it up above my work desk. Judging by your review, this one seems worth getting, very much so, and a big plus is that from what I've read, there are no shanti baba psybient samples and mantra prayers here, are there? Mmmm, this just might be next purchase. I haven't bought any anti-abbandoned moist and rusty warehouses music since what seems eternity now. Gotta find this, soon.

Whatever, I just wanted to drop by and show my appreciation to Kris for letting people get gems such as the Kailash EP and the beloved Kaaya 12", in high quality, for free. A great way to let in on some old school juice to those who missed it the first time around!

Hello. This might be interesting to fans of projects such as The Delta, Midi Miliz, Extrawelt, Spirallianz, C.O.P. or X-Dream during the "Irritant" phase, or anybody into deeper and darker techno. Not necessarily hard, but just moist and muddy... Here is the discogs link to the project: http://www.discogs.com/artist/VX+(3) And here is the Beatport link, with two minute samples + the possibility to buy if you like what you hear: https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/home/detail/1/beatport#app=1226&a486-index=3

How weird to see Anticon get all these proprs lately I am happy for that clique, as I supposed they deserve the respect they get, but unfortunately they all, with time, drowned in their poetic, abstract rhyme style. Like "hey, if nobody understands what we speak, maybe then everyone will assume it must be deep!" I used to aodre them around the time when Atmosphere dropped "The Woman With The Tattooed Hands" and MCs like Illogic killed it with "Me VS Myself Featuring I", "Angel" and "Hate In A Puddle". Unfortunately, time revealed how Buck 65 and Sole are two of the most irritating lyricists, close runner ups are Mystikal and Lil' Jon, with maybe a few of those Memphis based, Three 6 Mafia affiliates. Atmosphere were great, though I feel they kind of lost it after "God Loves Ugly". Same goes for Aesop Rock, who in my humblest of all opinions, went down the toilet after "Labor Days". As for the most promising of them all, Sage Francis, I have no clue whatsoever about his musical whereabouts. Anyways, my all time favorite artists are: 1) & 2) & 3) Organized Konfusion 4) Eric B. & Rakim 5) The Company Flow / El-P / Cannibal Ox guys...

I actually logged in just in order to add the LOLs!

They can all be found here: http://www.discogs.com/Aphex-Twin-The-Classics/master/2482 and for Quoth look under Polygon Windon, one of RDJ's most known aliases

Favorite AFX tune evargh is Digeridoo. Period. There was nobody anywhere releasing anything anyhow that in any way even remotely hinted at sounding like that tune. Closely followed by Quoth, the remixes of We Have Arrived, Flaphead and Polynominal-C.

I don't believe nobody has mentioned: By a mile my favorite psy trance orientated release of 2009. So refreshing and fun to listen to Other then that, I really enjoeyd Solar Field's "Movements" album, and as an old schooler, Blue Planet Corporation's "A Blueprint For Survival" was a spot on release!
