I like german artists a lot, and not only psy tekk ones but those early ones too and melodic ones. They practically invented this genre that we call electronic music nowadays and in trance they were playing and experimenting the most. My fave German names and acts : Oliver Lieb - The best of the best one. This prominent, experimenting melodic german artist is still among my favourite ones from germany. His most famous projects are : LSG, SPICELAB, THE AMBUSH...Great artist ! Boris Blenn - He is my number one psychedelic artists from germany. Known under different aliases : ELECTRIC UNIVERSE, JUPITER 8000, PARADISE CONNECTION...He is great ! Tim Schuldt - Another creative, hypnotic man from germany. He was making incredible music before with his projects TIM SCHULDT, TALKING SOULS, USHUAYA, FOUR CARRY NUTS...These days is a bit odd but before he was making incredible psy trance. Rough & Rush - Now this is the most twisted duo from germany, originally having their great project X-DREAM, after which it followed with CHILDREN OF PARADISE, THE DELTA and early one POLLINATOR. Sebastian Krueger - This guy is known for his projects TARSIS and SBK, both pretty progressive and minimal trance...very good one... HALDOLIUM - Very good, fresh and precise progressive trance band from germany...Juicy ! THE DELTA / MIDIMILIZ - very good raw, minimalish tech trance group that developed their certain sinister style...love them ! There are more germans of course but I have to go to bed now...Heheh...

You should man, they are truly unique...but as I said, first five are pretty bad production compared to nowadays standards, you saw when they were made and for ' modern ' listener might be too raw but if you are mature and serious listener you shouldn't mind anything and just listen to the music...

It's fenomenal, but I still like a little bit more Second Thoughest In Infants...
-
Yes Shaft...it's one from the last album...completely different than music they made before...so, don't trust that 'cheap' sample...
-
Heh, yeah I knew that they ahd more albums, I was agreeing about their 2 best ones OTO and RISOTTO. I haven't heard their first 3 albums, have you ? I would like to know which style they made. Same I've heard about first 2-3 Underworld albums that were completely different style than their DUBNOBASSMYHEADMAN and almost everyone 'gets' that beginning of their discography start from that album. Plus, I didn't say anything about their third album being cheesy, just that he was palying his dj set so cheesy you can't imagine how dreadful it was.

So, I imagine that more than few of you have heard about Front Line assembly guys, Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber and theirs ambient output first set back in 1987. With that project they made 11 albums, all of them some kind of different between each other but with the same feel you GET from Delerium. In the beginning they were purely dark, gothic ambient group making 5 albums in such style, they were raw and their production wasn't that crispy but the music itself was AMAZING. Those early experimenting with electronic music in underground, dark ways have never been interpreted before and they were truly unique for that time. They made following albums : FACES, FORMS AND ILLUSIONS ( 1988 ), MORPHEUS ( 1989 ), SPIRITUAL ARCHIVES ( 1990 ), SYROPHENIKAN ( 1990 ), STONE TOWER ( 1991 ) and those 5 albums are true masterpieces of subversive, pagan, demonic and angelic worlds and I like them all equally. Maybe FACES and SPIRITUAL ARCHIVES would be the best ones there. Then comes next phase, more spacey, cosmic driving stuff. They changed the style completely, and made more acid oriented albums, for tripping or chilling. 2 albums in such style were SPHERES 1 ( 1994 ) and SPHERES 2 ( 1994 ), both reviewed here cause of theirs ambiental spacey structure. After those albums they decided to expand their views and put some vocals and earth exploration feel to it. Next 2 albums SEMANTIC SPACES ( 1994 ) and KARMA ( 1997 ) are very good ambient dream pop albums. They are still not in such commrerical realms as their next 2 ones. Now this 2 are their worse, for my taste at least. POEM ( 2000 ) and CHIMERA ( 2003 ) are rather commerical and with heaps of singing. Here are almost in every single track endless singing and such funny commercial feel that I simply couldn't enjoy them in a right way. So, I am really sorry that these guys turned commerical too but they at least have 9 solid and very good albums behind them and has given a lot contribution to electronic world. They also produced and mastered *SYNAESTHESIA* project and made to me the best 3 ambient albums of all time : EMBODY ( 1995 ), DESIDERATUM ( 1996 ) EPHEMERAL ( 1997 ), three very natural, generic, organic albums EXACTLY made for tripping as the name of the project suggest. * EMBODY - 10/10 DESIDERATUM - 11/10 EPHEMERAL - 10/10 * FACES FORMS AND ILLUSIONS - 8/10 MORPHEUS - 7/10 SPIRITUAL ARCHIVES - 9/10 SYROPHENIKAN - 8/10 STONE TOWER - 7/10 SPHERES 1 - 10/10 SPHERES 2 - 10/10 SEMANTIC SPACES - 9/10 KARMA - 8/10 POEM - 5/10 CHIMERA - 4/10 What a descending...

Razor's Edge - Exquisite Sin ( Dream Mix ) OMG ! It's from 1994 and it still sounds so fresh and dreamy!!! If you haven't heard it, get it already... -
Yeah, I LOVE Fluke ! Their cyber urban techno approach is truly unique in the style. Both albums are pure perfection...They are very smooth, liquid albums... I heard him djing once and he played ultra cheesy house stuff, I couldn't believe my ears... I haven't heard his last album Puppy but I think he changed direction a little bit.

name a good artist never mentioned here before
seraph replied to psychonaut's topic in General Psytrance
I've actually haven't heard about any group mentioned and I am suppose to be some music freak...How 'mainstream' I am... I can add : Pure - Noonbugs album ( I reviewed it here, amazing noise ambience, perfect ) Nils Petter Molvaer - He is known but was never mentione dhere...He is amazing ambient, jazzy producer, good for chillin'. Sofa Surfers - They belong to the same crowd as Kruder & Dorfmeister making nice blend between funk, lounge and ambient. I'' add more later... -

Hah, that is one very cute remix by Boris Blenn...not better than X-Dream Rmx though... np: Mesmorised ( mmmm, mesmerising ) -
DP, just by reading your review I felt the energy so strong... I can't wait to order this from the man himself....Yay !
-
I can understand that someone is turned off by the samples, but aren't we talking about THE MUSIC here ? I also agree that it goes nice with the music, maybe because I haven't been brainwashing myself with Vangelis before...not that I worship him in the way other people does. To me, Vangelis makes good music but he is a bit overrated...

Yeah, it's one of his most agressive worx if the guy can be called agressive at all... np : Cosmosis - Dance Of Man -
Huh, Dragonflier, I am sorry but JR psychedelic ? In this tweaked, insane way as ooopium suggested it ? Not a chance, theirs tribal sound could never be mixed with ultra psycho sounds we are speaking here...
-
I forgot one of the best beatless ambient albums - Juno Reactor - Lu.C.i.Ana
-
I've heard both albums and they are very good but actually too minimalistic for me. I do like some kind of progression in sound, which those albums miss, they are pure soundscapes.
-
That must be our crazy Sandman - Bad News ( New Way )
-
Of course it's easy, that's what I said... Your turn...
-
Okay, I see it's too difficult so I'll reveal and pose another one... It's Evolution - Warriors Of Light, incredible old school acid goa track, released in 1997. Guess this piece of cake : 'You know why I'm such a happy person?. Coz I've got the greatest job in the solar system. In fact the only thing I ever worry about is that one day, it all might end. I have a plan to keep this from happening. I can do anything I want.' He

I can't believe no one knows it.... Am I too much obsessed with old school and no one else is to recognise this easy sample from old school classic ?
