There are few artists that make demented, dark music... Psychaos, that you already know of course.... Menis, they make pretty demented dark music... Toi Doi, amazing french sickening psy.... Slide, incredible, chaotic psy freak.... Morphem, another german, experimental darker freak... Haldolium, more progressive these days, check their previous releases like Deagua... Tortured Brain or other project of Dino Psaras with few twisted tunes.... There are more, but I am on a holiday...: P

How Blue Room belong to the labels of the day when they don't exist anymore...This was about your current labels I thought...If it is about favourite labels in general and from the past I would pick : Flying Rhino Blue Room Dragonfly Phonokol

OLIVER LIEB - CONSTELLATION 1993 RECYCLE OR DIE 1. DIMENSION X 2. SECRET VISITORS 3. SPICE DIVING 4. SUBSONIC INTERFERENCE This is incredible ambient by german pioneer of ambient and trance Oliver Lieb. This album is made in 1993 ! And it sounds so fresh and vibrant. It is very psychedelic and pretty lyrical. I simply love Oliver Lieb style, he is one of my favourite german prodcuers ever. This is the concept album, all songs are absolute perfection and I can't name my favourite one. Floaty, spacey pads splashed all around with slow, hypnotic effects that tingle your nerves perfectly. It exactly sounds as it is named CONSTELLATION. Spacey atmosphere effectively presented through pure sonic magic. This album is in similar vein to his Spicelab A Day On Our Planet, only it doesn't have the rhythms and kicks, it is pure ambient. I think that everyone should have this album that are interested in artistic qualities and real music. And even though there aren't any big melodies and harmonies, this album is filled with optimism, joy and blessing. 10/10 for sure...

After second, very thorough listen, I also tripped out on the whole. I do find few bits cheesy : LEVITATION NATION, FALLING AWAKE but the rest especially NOTHING LASTS...BUT NOTHING IS LOST is amazing, one of the best Shpongle tracks I've heard. Fifth and sixth track are the best after Nothing Lasts...Whole album has very variable concept. Freestyle at its best, even slightly better than their second one...Now it went up to 9/10 definitely.

I had mixed feelings about this album. It is surely total mixture of first and second album. I like the parts where it more sounds like the first but there are few very IMMATURE moments for Simon...like Beija Flor, ending and very ending of the disc...WTF...That sounds like shitty copy of new Infected Mushroom...Blah...But, third track and foruth are FENOMENAL, one of the best Shpongle ever...He managed to create same atmosphere as on the first one, making it a journey, trippy and beautiful...I say that this has 7/10 from me for now...

Or they are the best from your modest collection...

Pretty rich, variable list with so many different artists... BTW, Trancespotter is from 1996, originally released as single on First Flight....
-
No, he is not associated with OOOD, maybe he knows them but he wasn't there, as a memmber og group... he is very creative INDIVIDUAL artist which is rarely seen these days, one person creating so many layers and melodies BY HIMSELF... I can't stop praising this guy, but that is with the reason cause he makes the most honest trance of all...Strong, masculine bass lines and energy with gentle, perfect melodies layered all around...perfect match...

PURE - NOONBUGS 2002 MEGO 1. LIT 2. LOBS 3. IVAN 4. DUCK 5. CLAD 6. PELT 7. FLEW 8. ROBE Here is one very experimental electronica avant guarde album. This album is highly hypnotising, psychedelic and metallic. It is perfect for the trippers. The eight indexes represent points of inflection in the unfolding of the piece : changes in thickness, introduction of a new sound source, new momentum, distorted effects. Throughout, drones and sine waves move around at a comfortable pace. Digital glitches and treated samples populate the landscape, ethnic, distorted female voice in Ivan, a bowed double bass in Pelt. This album is continuous mix between songs, even mixing them 2-3 minutes one in another, completely manipulating with you through constant drone, psychedelic metallic effects that penetrates your brain some kind of agressively even, but smooth, ambient agression. There are lots of FLOW songs that he made entirely for long tripping. This album is surely not for everyone. This is underground at its best. I quite like this kind of excursions in deranged states of mind. The production is IMMENSE, the clarity of sounds and effects is top notch. He managed to make perfect album only it is not for everyone...All songs are very good....9/10

I think it would be most unsafest to go for Accelerator cause it is the only commerical album, with The Isness. Rest is very underground, so maybe that is what he meant when he said that is not for everyone, but I think that it is for everyone that likes intelligent or trippy music...

What music are you listening to right now?
seraph replied to Sputum Rotgut's topic in General Psytrance
I've only heard one part of the series, don't even know which one is it but it is FENOMENAL...I like that dark, melodic lines that just drag, perfect.... NP : Buddhist Monks of Maitri Vihar Monastery Hypnotising mantras that penetrate your brain slowly and repetitively. AUM -
They don't excatly sound like GMS, you are exaggerating... Their last album was a little bit full onish but it was very good album nevertheless... I hope this new style will bring some innovation...

Well, I meant old school trance artists, not old school goa, beacuse it appeared much later than original trance. First 'official' trance was released in 1991, I was talking about the period between 1991 and 1997. for Terra ferma...check other stuff as well...

I SUPPOSE TO EXPLAIN TO YOU WHY HE ISN'T MEDIOCRE ? That was the only reason why you called him mediocre ? So, I could explain ? Damn, kids sometimes really can be nasty... LISTEN FOR YOURSELF and find out, otherwise say it is your taste, don't say DOGMAS.

After NON RELEASED album I reviewed here ( EARTH CROSSING ), check it out, poor guy, not BEING able to release the album cause it is not 'full on' enough, released only one single on compilation ICE-O-LATOR...Even then, he still decided not to get 'under the influence' and made pure old school track...I TRULY HOPE HE WILL READ THESE PAGES and consider US that ADORE his music into releasing an album soon...
-
So, if you happen to be and old schooler as me, tell me what are your old school influences that grabbed you and made you understand this music. I am obssesed with Eye Q artists and label and my favourite artists from then are CYGNUS X, VERNON, BRAINCHILD, EARTH NATION, SVEN VATH, STEVIE B ZET... There is of course Platipus with its great artists : ART OF TRANCE, TERRA FERMA, UNION JACK, CLANGER, QUIETMAN, MOOGWAI, ALBION... I also liked very much german and french school too : LSG, HUMATE, AQUALITE, SPICELAB, PASCAL FEOS, PETE NAMLOOK, X-CABS, RABBIT IN THE MOON, COSMIC BABY, DANCE 2 TRANCE, DER DRITTE RAUM, HARDFLOOR, QUENCH, SASHA... There are lots of old schoolers that made generic, spirtual trance that was much more mature than so many stuff these days...Those were the days, no matter how naive they might sound now, lot of stuff from before sounds good even these days...That is the essence of it, quality will sound as good in 2020...

Shpongle 3 - Nothing lasts but nothing is lost
seraph replied to MattMan's topic in General Psytrance
It does ? I was expecting something more as Are You Shpongled ? but of course they won't make that kind of music anymore... Umm, okay, I won't say a word for now since I haven't heard it but carneval instruments, flamenco guitars is something I don't like to hear on my stereo nor in my ears...I'll wait...
