M - SPHERE - SERUM X 6. G - TRANCE POINT - IN SEARCH OF BUDDHA 7. EARTH PROJECT - JOURNEY THROUGH NATURE 8. SILVERSTATE - HYDRO LAPSE 9. DOOF - SKUNKED ON PLANET DUB 10. MARCEL DE BACH - STROPHARIA 11. MORTAL - LUXOR 12.CHILDREN OF DUB - SPOOK CD 2 1. SONIC ASSAULT - WALKING HOME 2. CHI - A.D. - CREATOR 3. TRANSISTOR 6 - SYRIGE 4. CHAKRA OPF DREAMS - VOODOO LAND 5. NIERIKA - SPIRITUAL LAND 6. CELTIC CROSS - MUNDIS IMAGINALUS 7. OM - IBAR 8. VISION 2000 - CROSS OVER SEA 9. SOFTWARE - FORGIVENESS TO HATE 10. JAIA - AFTER THE RAIN Seein that chill out section is missing 1,2,3,4 and 6 volume and since I have 4 and 6, I decided to review them cause they are pretty good collection of ambient tracks. Both discs have been pretty well chosen but the songs sometimes seem too randomly compiled. They could made different arrangement but the music is what it counts. First disc is starting with very deep atmospheric ambient by SUN Project - DEEPER AND DEEPER. I like this track very much, it is one of the better ambient songs by them. Next is short but very effective melodic song MEMORY CHILD, another atmospheric piece that fits good after previous track. Third one is THINGS CAN CHANGE, slightly different and progressed style with some guitars, making very decent continuation of compilation. FEEL THE CHAKRA LOVE is the only one weak on first disc, it has some nice mellow melodies but it is in fact a bit cheesy. SERUM X is great, one of the better ones on first dic, psychedelic and melodic with very good arrangements, very mature sounding. IN SEARCH OF BUDDHA is pretty good but it could have been done better, it just misses something. JOURNEY THROUGH NATURE is exactly what it describes with sounds of nature and some tribal structures spreaded all around. Then comes HYDRO LAPSE, another decent song that also lacks something to be great. But after that is brilliant SKUNKED ON PLANET DUB, third best here, very mellow, smooth, dub by master Nick Barber. He really know how to create dub soun ds, shame he is not doing it more often. LUXOR is amazing, travelling track with lots of effects and trippy images hidden. SPOOK is very good too, having dreamy soundscapes and images but a little bit short. Then comes second disc, that is even better than the first one. WALKING HOME is very good track, takes you somewhere very delicately, having very angelic pads and rustic sounds. CREATOR is another Chi-A.D. masterpiece. One of the best on whole copmpilation, highly hypnotic, melodic, trippy and atmospheric too...stunning ! SYRIGE is more urban kind of ambience and it just slides with some primal melodies having sample from Lost Highway ! Hah ! VOODOO LAND is very good tribal hypnotic track but then comes SPIRITUAL LAND, second best on second disc and very long - almost 16 minutes of long, driving journey, simple perfection, and it sounds like they cut it for the actual disc time, so it means that is even longer, huhh, I can't tell you what enchanting effect it has. MUNDIS IMAGINALUS all of you already know and you know that is another Simon masterpiece. IBAR is pretty decent track but it is the weakest here. CROSS OVER THE SEA reminds a little bit on Enigma with those rhythms and it is pretty good. FORGIVENESS TO HATE is also pretty good, being very lyrical and enchanting sounding almost like new age but in a good way, but then comes third best on second disc AFTER THE RAIN, mesmerising Jaia's piece of floaty, dreamy ambience, stunning ! So, all in all, this is very good collection of different ambient from around the world. Everyone that are seriously into ambience should have this....CD 1 - 8/10 CD 2 - 9/10

I would be really interested in hearing new Miranda progressed side, even though I wish for her to release another goa influenced album. After reading few reviews including Lemmi's whom I sort of trust, I decided to definately try this album, it sounds promising. I don't like her albums Real Rush and Northern Lights. They sound too pumpy for trance woman produced music. She should stick to her melodic, old school style she had on Phenomena ( which is PHENOMENAL ) and Asynja which was also stunning album. I also preffered her previous worx as Athena and Encens...very good goa style...

We don't have to spank you yet...You still belong to the old school crowd...

Suntrip / Psynews Party (march 25th 05, Brussels)
seraph replied to mars's topic in General Psytrance
I am also sorry for not being able to be there...Hey Anoebis, what kind of music you are planning to play ? -
Why is that rare ? I bet every single goa freak would feel the same about immense number of brilliant songs that you can't be bad and dismiss the other ones not mentioned...So, it is very diffilcult especially considering having at least 100 best psy trance tracks, but if I had to pick one, only ONE, than it would definately be ... PLEIADIANS - MAIA Beacuse of massive melodic work that includes at least 10 melodies plus most effective psychedelic sounds and effects I've ever heard in any track...sheer perfection... Ooops, there are two more ( I can't resist , what can I do ? ) ASTRAL PROJECTION - KABALAH N.D.M.A. - VITAN now, I am thru...really...
-
I know it is quite old, but I would certainly go for PLEIADIANS - SEVEN SISTERS, just because of long, mellow beginning that just slides slowly into demented psychadelia. I like it when someone starts for at least 1 minut slowly, just to let the air flow inside the brain s before it hits strongly...

Well, basically, those TIP compilations are always chosen by Raja Ram who in dj life sucks big time, but in compiling and making concept compilations he rules. Ever since his first concept album TIP - Mystical Experiences he started doing concept compilations which were Mystery Of Yeti 1 & 2 and they are to me maybe the best concept ALBUMS around. It was followed by Infinite Excursions, Mystery Of Thirteen Crystal Skulls, Secret of Thirteen Crystal Skulls, Twelve ( ambient compilation ) and I think that he does ring the artists and suggest them general idea of his and of course they'll accept cause it is him plus TIP label, one of the most popular in the scene. The point is that if any concept is serious enough everyone would contribute no matter the time or money, it is conceptual making for the sake of art, and that is why I like concept cds, they make sense, they are presented seriously without any pretentiousness. I also liked Eclipse, Kumharas, Mountain High concept compilation albums...

There isn't actually ONE track that I can name...really...How can you name single track among thousands ? Not a chance. I can always start with the lists but I tend to get too much into the subject in any case... BTW, Welcome here...I am glad that someone from my favourite exotic country is here...

I think you are. His album For All Mankind is fenomenal, one of the best early melodic full on albums....

How clever of you perceiving this site and members like that. You must be so happy cause you saw our reactions. And what did you achieve with them ? If you are guy that likes to question everything, why don't you question your point of making lousy points ? Pretentious and dirty answer that was...Do you really think that everyone that like some group is liking it beacuse they are sheep ? You are out of your pretentious mind ! People choose whom to like, it is their taste, no one decided one day to like Astral or Hallucinogen, they just did. You have sheeps in mainstream and pop music, not here. That is why I couldn't agree with your silly post at first place. Peace
-
Hale Bopp by Crop Circles ? Are you sure ? Plus those other two songs ? Huh, why on earth they haven't published any one of them ? If they released an album, whole that outer space crowd would make 6 brilliant albums plus 2 more albums of single material ! What a contribution ! I still find them as one of the most prominent artists in the scene. Huge respect ( until Nitrox ).

Traveller, I have to agree with Gnome about this one. You know nothing about FSOL, untraveller...
-
Damn, I still haven't heard this album but I've heard Mother Durga and Flight 303 To...and they are pretty good tracks. I imagined whole album is great cause I really like their style ( old one only ) not this new pompeus trance they are making...
-
Yeah, basilisk, you are right, it is disgusting...

Cinos, little boy, I noticed you are guy with a lot of hatred inside. There were before few hateful threads from you. If you have nothing interesting to post, post nothing cause your mediocre little thoughts are just silly. You can dislike someone but starting new thread about hating is so BORING itself. GROW.

THE SOURCE EXPERIENCE - DIFFERENT JOURNEYS 1994 R & S RECORDS 1. UNKNOWN TERRITORY 2. POINT ZERO 3. PRESSURE DROP 4. DIATONIC SHIFT 5. INTRUDER 6. X-RAY 7. NIGHTSHIFT 8. VOICES OF THE SPIRIT Here is one very experimental album by famous producer Robert Leiner. This album is made in 1994 and it is pretty progressive for its time. His fusion of groovy trancey beats, some techno structures and crystal sounds gave pretty good outcome. First track UNKNOWN TERRITORY has very gentle melodies and pretty good mixture of techno and trance beats. It is very long, over 11 minutes and it is done like a real journey, sliding very smooth and precise. Very good introduction for the album. POINT ZERO has some house influences strongly supported by hypnotic sounds that also slides very gently, morphing around you and cherishing you. PRESSURE DROP is more on the experimental side, changing the pace and setting for something different than before. DIATONIC SHIFT is faster, with some industrial sounds and techno beat generically changes but unfortunately has no variations. It could have been done beter actually. INTRUDER is also very pacey, having transforming kick that penetrates your brain on lower levels with few spacey elements and nice drum work. X-RAY is the longest here, over 12 minutes and is one of the best too. It has trancey rhythm, some deviant sounds and overall very mature atmosphere. It has constant hypnotic drive but that is soon broke with trancey melody that just floats around your ears giving very generic feel. NIGHTSHIFT is another long piece with more techno influences again. It has some kind of minimal structure and it reminds me a little bit on Plastikman. VOICES OF THE SPIRIT is pretty fast, I was surprised he put it at the end of the album but has nice pads and atomsphere so the feeling is complete. I can say that this is pretty good album fo its time cause it exactly explores different dimensions than music made in that period. This is album for electronic and techno fans rather than trance fans. It is nice symbiosis of trance, techno and some house...8/10

THE MUSES RAPT - YOU 2005 IBIZA MUSIC 1. CELEBRATE 2. EL ALMO ESCONDIDO 3. ADAM'S LOVE 4. THE FLY OF THE PHOENIX OVER NATARAJ 5. QUESTION WITHOUT ANSWER 6. SWEET PLANET 7. BES DANCE 8. HUMAN ODDITY Here is the second, long awaited album by spanish maestro Juan Verdera. While his first album was melodic and sophisticated and by any means innovative, this album goes more into club and enhanced by very strong and loud kick and bass lines tends to loose somewhere. I wouldn't mind this album if there wasn't those strong kick lines that dominated through every single track. There are still his melodies and sounds but kick just get too much in your face where you actually loose interest for the rest of the track, until new, fresh melody comes in and you are tricked again. First track CELEBRATE is not bad but has nothing to do with his old style. And as everyone say here, it is cheesy, my leats favourite from the album but still not obnoxious as everyone says. Next track sounds more intersting but with such dominated kick that you barely hear melodies. Then comes first very good track on the album ADAM'S LOVE. There are very smooth, gentle liquid melodies but then again too fast kick. What happened to him with this overused kicks, it sounds like he wanted to do full on alike album without being full on at all, strange...Then comes THE BEST one on album, FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX OVER NATARAJ...It has perfect morphing melodies and it is the only one that completely reminds on old Muses Rapt, simple melodic perfection, the album is worth for this track only. QUESTION WITHOUT ANSWER is pretty good too, sliding perfectly after previous one. SWEET PLANET is as the title suggest, sweet, but only that. Again in your face kick and you slowly start to loose interest. BES DANCE is nice, has also few gentle melodies and is distinctive and has pretty lyrical structure. HUMAN ODDITY goes slightly into full on but it is also nice song. All in all, very decent album but no remotely comparable with his first. Has 3 really good songs and the rest pretty good but nothing extraordinary. So, Juan, don't get too carried away with your next album...7/10

Huh, yeah, that is exactly what I tripped...Thanks...

Zebedee Gherkin, shut up.

Well, oopium, I can't know about every single album out there, even though I am doing my best in collecting and knowing as much as possible. I had no idea they had ambient music before. This album will surely get my attention in near future...
-
This is certainly the best full on album last year but as Electric Universe album it is surely his weakest and since I expect not every single pioneer to sell for some money there, I don't like it cause my favourite German artist did that too. I was extremely dissapointed when I heard full on bassline and why did he have to use it. I mean listetning to Meteor with full on bassline...C'mon Boris, what happend to you ? Now, even Joti Sidhu with his new album HAD to put full on bassline. I am very angry cause the scene is turning into mainstream and full on is certainly now mainstream of trance...So, as full on album, this gets 8/10 from me but as another Boris effort unfortunately 6/10...

They released an album ? ? ? ? How come I never heard about this album ? Huh, I can't believe it. I didn't even see it anywhere mentioned or reviewed and I am here, on Psychedelic Mind Expander non stop... PLus it is ambient ! Hah ! Where do you dig all this stuff Astro Cortex ? Thanks...I'll check them out...

Dimension 5 - Mind To Mind Jaia - After The Rain Chi-A.D. - Tranquilicy

I also go for some sensual rhythms and beats, but it is nice to have some background music too, like some indian instrumental music with sitar. I very rarely play trance music and when I do, it would be again something mellow with low bpm 100-120...
