Cubicidal, you were in the world of demons while listening to The Lone Deranger ?!?! How come ? That album always showed me bright paths especially Deranger track. Umm, yes, there is Horrorgram track and you were in the basement, makes sense...
-
Even though it sounds a little bit like Pleiadians it wouldn't go on such label as Dragonfly, Jon...maybe it would go for Blue Room at that time...
-
Yeah, Ant Invasion is great but I more prefer Trippy Future Garden! So much layers and stuff going on, it is like he used 50 chanells for this track...Amazing...But I quite liked Screwdriver, very goaish...

I've only heard Dead Or Alive ? track and I have to tell you Jon, it sounds like his older style ! I was gobsmacked cause I also though after previous one that he won't produce wild, energetic psy but this song completely broke that thinking and I can say that I am pretty amazed if the other ones sounds like that as well...I can hardly wait for his new album !

Huh, I know about that album but I don't think they wanted to release this stuff cause it doesn't sound that good actually....I mean, they are nice songs but they are not anything extra. I imagine they wanted to put something else there, but who knows. It is bad cause they didn't relase it anyway. They had other labels to release it...

I've listened to Antonomasia Rmx and it is also less good than original. It just sounds like they pitched and changed some minor parts but it is not so intersting in any case. No wonder why I have never heard about this stuff before... The best out of all 4 new songs I found is PENTAGONE...Shame, I really expected another full blasts by them...Still, good to have...

Yes, Etnica/Pleiadians and Crop Circles are same guys plus there are 2 more guys in Crop Circles, I forgot their names but they later formed Lotus Omega... I use Soulseek...

Hey guys, I just found about undiscovered singles by this crazy guys...I couldn't believe my eyes. This is why downloading programs are good for...I found out about singles PENTAGONE, CERALOGY, LUNAR CIVILISATION RMX, ANTONOMASIA RMX...Whoa !!!! Pentagone is pretty good, it is not their classic style but it is rather clever. Cerealogy is okay, it could have been done better actually, it is very long and tends to get boring by the end but still worth the effort...Lunar Civilisation Rmx is not better than original of course and it has some strange structure...still it is nice and worth too. I am still waiting for Antonomasia Rmx to download... I know it is bad talking about it, but hell, I had to share with you guys... What a shame they released only few singles : FULL MENTAL JACKPOT FULL MENTAL JACKPOT ( PLEIADIANS RMX ) LUNAR CIVILISATION ANTONOMASIA DIFFERENT SPECIES and now these 2 singles...plus remixes...

I love Simon Posford. He is in the scene from the beginning, and even though his music wasn't brilliantly produced in the beginning he surely knew how to make music and melodies. His album TWISTED is landmark of an album. THE LONE DERANGER is also brilliant and he only released few singles which apart from MAGIK were all great. I also feel sorry he is not producing trance anymore...But he has been very hard working in ambient/downtempo/dub and he is also great there, so that is why he might be considered as one of the best and he surely is. What is important is that he is musically very talented and to me that is what is most important in making music, to make music and not throw effects and sounds around beautifully arranged...

What about Elixir - Twisted Jet ? To me, it is one of their best as well...but I can't call it full on but rather hard psy goa trance...

Hello Astro Cortex, Welcome ! I really liked your nickname so I had to reply to you... I am glad you started so early, that early. I also started that early and you can really feel the difference of discovering trance between new commers and people that were newbies back then. I know lots of young, new commers that haven't even heard of MFG or Transwave for that matter. It is like they are stuck with modern that they are not even aware of the past. I am glad that you experienced right music at the right time...My first purchase was Pulse 1 compilation and after hearing all of the songs I was abolutely split apart, cause I also started with early Prodigy, Underworld, Orbital, some gabba trance and early trance before that so when I discovered PSYCHEDELIC my brain waves biologically connected to that frequency instantly so I got entranced and haven't stopped trancing for 9 years now...

JAIA - BLUE ENERGY 1998 CROSS 1. SOMMEIL PARADOXAL 2. ANAWA'S PARADISE 3. BREATHING OCEAN 4. BRAINSTORM 5. NASTY ANGEL 6. MAI MAI 7. SPIRITUAL DROPS AND ETERNAL ICES 8. AFTER THE RAIN I know that this album was reviewed here and it got heaps of replies but I simply had to reviewed it again, since I finally got it ! And I am absolutely amazed. I already heard BRAINSTORM which I always found as one of the most primal goa tracks. I read all the reviews and imagined how it would sound but until you actually hear it, you know nothing. When I heard first track SOMMEIL PARADOXAL I actually GOT PROJECTED straight to paradise. This guy is pure genious, his atmospheric, precise choice of sounds and effects are simply amazing. This tribal ambiental piece is nothing more than perfect. The best beginning of the album I've ever heard ! Dreamy, floaty, mesmerising, soothing...It continues to more funky and trancey ANAWA'S PARADISE that doesn't actually sounds like that cause previous song perfectly gave description of such wonderful place. This song slides and has some tribal singing all along and it is made like a journey. It just takes you and supports you. BREATHING OCEAN is another great track. It is also very liquid and enchanting. Then comes the best song on album BRAINSTORM, stomping, primal spiritual goa trance with twisted enlightening melodies. AMAZING ! It continues to another goa experiment NASTY ANGEL, song filled with hypnotic crystal effects and drums. Has few crazy breaks and completely takes you to another dimension. After that comes second biggest hit from the album MAI MAI, psychedelic, very long piece. SPIRITUAL DROPS AND ETERNAL ICES is exactly how is described. Very crystal, smooth and emotional. This guy makes music out of sheer emotion and it is wonderful. After that comes one of the best ambient works I've heard in ambient trance genre. What a song ! Very enlightning, melodic, almost classical piece, simple perfection. So, I know I am a little late with hearing this album, but huh, the wait was payable cause I feel absolutely gobsmacked by geniousness that is behind this. I like when someone make music from the heart without any compromise and this album is surely one of the psychedelic classics...10/10

BANCO DE GAIA - MAIA ( Eastern flavoured maximal ambience, pretty good ) BANCO DE GAIA - LAST TRAIN TO LHASA ( His best album he ever released, 2 CD ) THE ORB - ORBUS TERRARUM ( Hypnotic ambient dub at its best ) TOIRES - OUED/SANATI ( Arabic kind of Shpongle, pretty juicy ) SHULMAN - IN SEARCH OF MEANINGFUL MOMENT ( Israel answer to Shpongle, very good album ) ENTHEOGENIC - SPONTANEOUS ILLUMINATION ( French liquid ambience, pretty good album ) BLUETECH - ELEMENTARY PARTICLES ( Concise, trippy ambience, pretty good too ) SOLAR FIELDS - BLUE MOON STATION ( Very dreamy, floaty ambience ) AES DANA - MEMORY SHELL ( Another floaty piece ) H.U.V.A.NETWORK - DISTANCES ( This album is mixture of previous 2 artists, very good ) There is lots more but these ones are for now...

What warrents a 10/10 album? How do you score?
seraph replied to Jon Cocco's topic in General Psytrance
I always give 10/10 for a classic or something really extraordinary or innovative in the genre. But, it is mostly classics that get the highest grade and there is lots of them. Very rarely some album get 10/10 nowadays because I can't hear originality anymore and most albums get slightly over the average grade, I can't even remember the classics or extraordinary albums from past years...Umm, let me think about...CHI-A.D. - INFINTISM ( 2001 ), COSMA - SIMPLICITY ( 2001 ), INFECTED MUSHROOM - B.P.EMPIRE ( 2001 ), FRACTAL GLIDER - PARASITE ( 2002 ), CHI-A.D. - EARTH CROSSING ( 2002 ), COSMA - NON STOP ( 2003 ), VIBRASPHERE - LIME STRUCTURE ( 2003 ), JUNO REACTOR - LABYRINTH ( 2004 ), so you see, it is very few albums... -
Huh, I first thought too that it will be double disc but this concept sounds pretty interesting. It will surely mean they did something innovative and creative as always. Just for Raja Ram not to destroy the songs with some non sense of samples...

Beat Hackers & Michelle - When The Lights Go Out Infected Mushroom & Michelle - Ballerium Sub 6 & Michelle - 7th Son Those 3 only popped on my head cause I don't like trance songs with singing...

I don't get any jokes about my favourite ambient artists...

@decoding Where on Earth you understand that FSOL ever remixed The Beatles ? Sherlock was talking about beatless ambient music...I think you inhaled too much incense sticks in your meditative moods...
-
Of course FSOL over Shpongle ! They released heaps of albums whereas Shpongle only 2 which doesn't matter in fact but the point is that these guys FSOL explored ambient genre and set the new definitions of ambient in general... @sherlockalien They have some beatless songs, in fact most of them are beatless but they are so delicious, you wouldn't mind a bit those with beat...

Hey Lemmi, I absolutely agree with you. I am also in the substance front and even though I do respect the form, I find substance the main thing, cause if you have perfect form, without substance you might as well go and make minimal music. For this kind of trance we are both respecting ( old school and psy that is ) the substance is everything but since no one is making this kind of music anymore, form did took every form. Crispy production, perfect rhythms, smooth structures are all fine, but for making progressive, minimal and crazy psy, but since there are no stories anymore or fairy tales or other dimensions in music I guess we have to settle with FORMING times. This decade is the decade of forms, last one was substance decade. I guess we will have to accept and finally shut up about it cause I am sure there will be 100 replies saying that form is more important than substance...Cheers
-
@sherlockalien I already reviewed their albums in reviews section, but their best are : LIFEFORMS ( 2 cd's, the best ambient journey ever ), ISDN ( darker, gloomier, shivering and very intense ) and DEAD CITIES ( to me their best, also dark, but even some light, intricate songs too, very experimental but more than anything MENTAL ). Get them for sure, you won't regret one dime..
-
Yeah, it seems that is trendy to dislike them no matter cause the topics about them had over 2000 views. I respect the taste but when first Shpongle came out, everyone were adoring it ! Now, after hundreds of new ambient artists and albums they seem lame ? NAAAAH....They made 2 great albums and third is on its way, so I don't give a f*ck if anyone dislike them, there is no point posting hateful thread isn't it ?
