I think that 2005 will be entirely fresh year, after all these years. I believe that after this melodic come back, artists will go back to the roots but with better and fertile soil. I believe that psychadelia will be again revived and that full on will take other direction. I don't mind full on if it is intelligent, psychedelic one, like 3D Vision stuff or Fractal Glider but if it is hyperproductive non sense then it tend to be too much like what has been going on in 2003 and 2004. I don't find this year to be that extraordinary but I am sure next one will be the best one in last 5 years. Let's wait and see.

Yeah, another Darshan would be more than cool but after Spectra which I didn't find that extraordinary I don't know how would they sound cause they certainly won't sound like the old Darshan in the era of Awakening. But they made lots of great singles as well: DUCK, NAVIGATOR, SLIPSTREAM, MIND MERGE, ENERGY TRANCE, PSYCHOKINESIS, THE BEAST, ECO BLIP...

THE ORB - ADVENTURES BEYOND THE ULTRAWORLD 1991 ISLAND 1. LITTLE FLUFFY CLOUDS 2. EARTH ( GAIA ) 3. SUPERNOVA AT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE 4. BACK SIDE OF THE MOON 5. SPANISH CASTLES IN SPACE 6. PERPETUAL DAWN 7. INTO THE FOURTH DIMENSION 8. OUTLANDS 9. STAR 6 & 7,8,9 10. A HUGE EVERGROWING PULSATING BRAIN THAT RULES FROM THE CENTRE OF THE ULTRAWORLD Here is The Orb first album but their third best after Orbus Terrarum and U.F.Orb. With this album you can hear that they wanted to make it a little bit commerical, same as with FSOL and their Accelerator. Maybe they wanted to get some recognition before they started doing underground stuff. This album is a double one, it lasts for 2 hours and what 2 hours we get ! Beside the first song being more popish ambient, then comes Earth ( Gaia ) which is stunning journey without being commerical. Supernova At The End Of The Universe is more ethnic, trip hop structured journey. I said journey cause they do tend to make extremely long songs with soundscapes and driving rhythms. Backside Of The Moon is one of the best on album, simply amazing, very trippy with lot of dreamy pads and noises. Spanish Castles In Space is another one best in here, gentle and soothing with distinctive bass thru whole track. Perpetual Dawn is funny, tribal track that reminds me a lot of Banco De Gaia music. Into The Fourth Dimension is one of the fastest here and it is pretty good. Rest of the tracks are some mixture of trip hop, dub and ethnic fusion. The only problem with the album is using a lot of samples from various films and broadcast shows but it goes with the concept of the album and that is Welcome Extraterrestrials, this is our planet Earth...Hehe...8/10

THE ORB - U.F.ORB 1992 ISLAND 1. O.O.B.E. 2. U.F.ORB 3. BLUE ROOM 4. TOWERS OF DUB 5. CLOSE ENCOUNTERS 6. MAJESTIC 7. STICKY END Here is the second album by The Orb and their second best. It was made in 1992 and you can hear not so crispy production but the content is quite content. This kind of spacey, alien ambient trips are throughout the whole album and you have certain alienated feel when listening. There were lots of contributors for this album, to mention Youth as well. But the main brain was Paterson brain. O.O.B.E. or Out Of Body Experience exactly describes that, Astral Projection of soul and it was perfectly made with silent noises, gentle pads and very slow ambient lifting structure. You actually feel like you've been projected while listening to it. U.F.Orb is very spacey, alien track that perfectly goes after soothing O.O.B.E. Blue Room is one of the best on album and this songs as next one Towers Of Dub go more into dubby, driving realms without letting you go. Long, very moving songs that will smack you to the sofa or wherever you are. Next 2 tracks are also extremely long and trippy and that is exactly how can I call this album - trippy ! If you want real ALIEN NOISE, get this ambient perfection, it is only for experienced listeners but I am sure they already own this one...I like all tracks here too...10/10

THE ORB - ORBUS TERRARUM 1995 ISLAND 1. VALLEY 2. PLATEAU 3. OXBOW LAKES 4. MONTAGNE D'OR 5. WHITE RIVER JUNCTION 6. OCCIDENTALISM 7. SLUG DUB Here is the third album by The Orb and it is by any means their best effort still. It was made back in 95 but hell it sounds like nowadays producution. It was way ahead of time and it is one of the best ambient / dub pieces of artistry. This album has such crazy range of harshness and gentle melodic structures that it leaves you wonder wheter these guys WERE normal during production. Heh...This kind of esotheric, earthy feel throughout the whole album is very well sensed and you actually feel like you are travelling thru the Earth without a map, that was perfectly drawn on the cover. It is like a fantasy roll play journey where you have to accomplish some mission. There are some screaming psychedelic noisy madness - MONTAGNE D'OR , the best piece on this album I still find as one of their best songs. It is so psychedelic and mesmerising that it really makes you wonder, how did they achieved this...I absolutely love every single track here...Favourites : ALL ....11/10

THE ORB - ORBLIVION 1997 ISLAND 1. DELTA MKII 2. UBIQUITY 3. ASYLUM 4. BEDOUIN 5. MOLTEN LOVE 6. PI 7. SALT 8. TOXYGENE 9. LOG OF DEADWOOD 10. SECRETS 11. PASSING OF TIME 12. 72 Dr. Alex Paterson formed this very innovative band at the end of eighties specifially for IDM, and ambient electronica genre. All along with FSOL, this group is one of the most prominent electronica groups that ever came out of England. This is their fourth installement and it is pretty good album, but not their best. There is whole range of different genres here too, from melting ambient noises over dubby distinctiveness thru some downbeat techno. There are also electro influences with shimmering rhythms and even some drum'n'bass structures, so it is pretty various, but there could have been done something else on it. There aren't those long driving sections like on UFOrb or Orbus Terrarum but this album do manage to present what it wants without any pretention. My favourite songs are : ASYLUM, BEDOUIN, TOXYGENE ( you remember that hit single that is the best one on the album , simply amazing ), SECRETS, PASSING OF TIME...7/10

Well, you are somehow right, I don't mind constructive crticism but I don't like reviewing album song by song cause that is a little bit intelectual approach and I am not that kind of intelectual. I like saying the general things about the album and not elaborating about it cause I base my perception of music on the feeling and not on examining the music. I understand that you need more information about the album but you can always check the professional reviews on the net after you read this as an intro, as something you heard for the first time, maybe got interested and then go and check for some elaborate reviews. I would function like that. The point is that if you are looking for an album that won't 'hurt' your brain but would rather make it comfortable then you'd like this album. Along those acid lines and housey rhyhtms, you'd find some groovy breakbeat techno structures and it is perfect album as I said to sit at home with friends or for a beach or caffe. It has mellow, tame atmosphere but at the same time it is not cheesy and bad. BTW, how come you never heard about them ? They are so long in the scene, I even heard about them when I was little kid...heheh

AMORPHOUS ANDROGYNOUS - TALES OF EPHIDRINA 1993 ASTRALWERKS 1. LIQUID INSECTS 2. SWAB 3. MOUNTAIN GOAT 4. IN MIND 5. EPHIDRENA 6. AUTO PIMP 7. FAT CAT 8. POD ROOM Just a little bit after their first album as Future Sound Of London, they decided to take more underground turn and go more into ambience by releasing this great album as Amorphous Androgynous. This album really sets the atmosphere for what would become true FSOL ambient sound. Cyber tropic atmosphere and liquid sounds make this album a real journey just before Lifeforms. It is like a continuation to Lifeforms. The production is a little bit rough but the usual FSOL sounds and pads are there making the special world of nature sonicly crafted. I like all the songs on album but my favourite ones are : LIQUID INSECTS, MOUNTAIN GOAT, IN MIND, EPHIDRENA, POD ROOM...9/10

FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - ACCELERATOR 1992 HYPNOTIC 1. EXPANDER 2. STOLEN DOCUMENTS 3. WHILE OTHERS CRY 4. CALCIUM 5. IT'S NOT MY PROBLEM 6. PAPUA NEW GUINEA 7. MOSCOW 8. 1 IN 8 9. PULSE STATE 10. CENTRAL INDUSTRIAL 11. EXPANDER RMX 12. MOSCOW RMX 13. PAPUA NEW GUINEA ( GRAHAM MASSEY RMX ) Well, being asked to review this album as well, I had to put, in any case cause it belongs to their discography and even though it is the most commerical album they made it is pretty good considering when it was made. I like when artists present idea in a creative way and these guys surely know how to set the atmospheres. This first effort as Future Sound Of London project came shortly after their first Amorphous Androgynous album which was great, even better than this one, cause it mostly sounded like their latest works, less commercial and more conceptual. This album do tend to go even too much into commerical housey realms but it was this album that set the genre as acid house music with bits of trance and trip hop parts. So, basically they made fresh album, more for a beach or caffe but with some club hits as well. There is one of their biggest hit singles on this one - PAPUA NEW GUINEA which is the best on album in any case. That song was so popular, it was released on numerous compilations as well hitting the music charts. Beside that creamy song there are Expander, Moscow, Pulse State, Central Industrial and It's Not My Problem that are my favourites...7/10

This looks pretty interesting... I'd go for Bamboo Forest, Wizzy Noise, Menog, Silicon Sound, Son Kite, Atmos, Tristan and Toires...

Well, Psykadelia and Dreamland are with Amazon his best too. I even liked his first album but the production is pretty bad on that one, but musically it is pretty good album as well...Beside that, I like all other groups from your list. BTW, Mystica is not making Nitzhonot, nor Luminus. Nitzhonot artists are : Eyal Barkan, early Astrix, some Cyan, Shiva Shidapu...As said, Luminus is more uplifting psy trance...And his album Hypnotica was great.

To me, without having 2 songs from it looks like 9/10 cause there are almost all classics.

Finally I agree with you Cinos on something.. I find Colours Of Shiva 1,2 and 3 as the best ones but all along with Pulse 1, 2 and 3...Those 6 comps got me in this music back in 96 ! But, I also like Goa Spirit 3 which is pretty amazing and Accidental Occidentalism, old school bliss. Best chill concept compilations must be Eclipse - Journey In Permanence and Impermanence, Kumharas - SST Chill, Life Is...-HomMega Chill...

Lemmi, what is wrong with Asia 2001 ? Can you explain ? I quite like his style. Yes, he didn't make as complicated music as other old school producers back then, but he certainly has his own style. Albums do tend to sound similar but I don't have problem with that as long as they are good and his first 3 albums were damn good. But, then again, we come to tastes, but I really want to know what you find dreadful about him...
