It sounds nice but I expected a little bit more from both of them, in fact I can barely hear Simon, excpet of those vocals and melodic line.
-
Yeah, Moai, you are absolutely right but Dado's reaction was still a little bit unprofessional. So what if people are so enthusiastic ? Whole thread wasn't critical but more optimistic about their new sound. People didn't bash anything since they haven't heard it, they were just hoping for the best and he had a reaction like we are trying to tell him what to do. I still think that they should make an album they want but without bad reactions...Cheers Dado...

New album is quite different than previous ones. There aren't so many melodies but it is certainly not a bad album or forgetable. I was also expecting blast of an album and instead he developed his style in a more progressed way but didn't make progressive trance album but some crossover between gentle psy and progressive. I quite like his new album but his best are MOMENT OF TRUTH and EARTH MOVING THE SUN. Of course the singles he released were great. My favourite songs are : TELEPORT, THE BREECH, SUGAR RUSH, OWN THE WORLD, LOW COMMOTION, VAVOOM, EVOLUTION, LUNAR CYCLE. But he also remixed heaps of stuff and I can call him best remixer ever. His best remixes are : Disco Volante - Moon Raker ( MWNN Rmx ), Art Of Trance - Octopus ( MWNN Rmx ), Eat Static - Bony Incus ( MWNN Rmx ), Infernal Machine - The Loin King ( MWNN Rmx ), Juno Reactor - Pistolero ( MWNN Rmx ), Cygnus X - The Orange Theme ( MWNN Rmx ), Juno Reactor - Jardin De Cecile ( MWNN Rmx )Quietman - The Sleeper ( MWNN Rmx ), Three Drives On Vinyl - Greece 2000 ( MWNN Rmx )...so this guy really knows how to make good music...Respect !

@Dasa : So, FSOL and psy haven't influenced on you to continue being hippy ? I am joking...I just can't understand yuppy culture and selling their lives for some cash and becoming a robot instead of normal human being...Don't get me wrong please...Heh
-
Yeah, SLIDER is my favourite here too...It is not only in bass line but the whole driving structure is intelligent and clever. These guys really know how to make you trip out...
-
@Chris : They released new album called The Isness that is completely dissapointing. It is like neo hippy bland music with few romantic melodies, pathetic pads and good usage of sitar. There are songs with silly guitar and hideous singing. I couldn't believe they actually released this album. But they released it under Amorphous Androgynous project...4/10 for The Isness

Worst years for me were 2001 and 2003.

Well, seeing lot of people going for more artists, I have to add my favourite ones : PLEIADIANS/ETNICA ASTRAL PROJECTION HALLUCINOGEN CHI-A.D. DIMENSION 5 BLUE PLANET CORPORATION TRANSWAVE MESSAGE FROM GOD COSMOSIS JUNO REACTOR MAN WITH NO NAME GREEN NUNS OF THE REVOLUTION
-
1996 for Goa Trance 1997 for Psy Trance 1998 for Epic Trance
-
PLEIADIANS/ETNICA They are absolutely my favourite ones cause they released 5 platinum albums : THE JUGGELING ALCHEMIST UNDER THE BLACK LIGHT, ALIEN PROTEIN, IFO, FAMILY OF LIGHT, EQUATOR plus another 2 albums of singles by both projects ( Vimana, Time Dilation, Astral Way, Acid Shell, Blinded Moon, Tribute, Plastic, Rotating Fields, Jungle Trax, Chemical Trance, Sonic System, Full Mental Jackpot, Pleiadians, Boarding Pass To Balagan and more of them ) so they are pretty special to me since I like all of their trax until Nitrox and Chrome. I still haven't heard new Etnica album yet and they are not my present favourite but what did they achieved for trance culture in general make them my absolute favourite. After them ASTRAL PROJECTION come.

Hah, I exactly had similar idea about space shuttle, but playing music degravitating...Heheh, but I'd more go for natural sources : forest or beach is the best spots on Earth for partying.

Hey Jon Cocco, there are only few psy/goa female trance artists in the scene. Second most popular after Miranda must be Ree K, japanese trance producer and she is also great. She released pure goa trance album and even great one back in 96 called Yammataikoku. She had one single released on Tan Trance 3 from that album and that was single Kage which was great. Whole album is completely filled with oriental melodies and goa feeling. After that album she released some singles more in psy genre but still pretty good. After that, I've never heard of her or anything. Shame. There is another female psy artist as one part of ManMadeMan. There is couple involved in that project. There is also couple in Sirius Isness, guy and girl. Goa Gil's wife Arianne is another woman involved in trance scene being together in The Nommos. Beside those women, I don't know any other being involved in the trance scene...

PHENOMENA is fenomenal but REAL RUSH was a bit crappy for me, except of 3 songs, rest is actually boring. Her second best album after Phenomena was ASYNJA, now that was old school album after first one and Real Rush and Northern Lights were just lame except of Gnocchi from NL. She released some singles that were also great goa music but later she decided to go with the flow of descending goa style with her comrades of old school goa. Pity...

John 00 Fleming presents: A Journey Into Psy-Tranc
seraph replied to Tegma's topic in General Psytrance
This is journey into Psy Trance ? Naaah, it more looks like journey into progressive trance and I am surprised by John's choice of songs. I mean, there are some good tracks but they don't go one after another so much especially Nilaya and Cities Of The Future...Heh, funny...but Son Kite, Tegma, Vatos Locos and Wizzy Noise are good choice...I wonder how this compilation sounds like... -
Yep, this is very good compilation. It is filled with metallic, psychedelic classics. This compilation was from the time when people were still making psychedelic trance with the content and some dramatisation. And yes, it does sound like a album compilation cause of similar sounds present on it and similar musical structures. I like practically all of the songs but the best ones are : DIABLO, SMALL MOVES, DIFFERENT WORLDS, WHEELS OF TIME, MINTFUNK, INTELLIGATE...8/10
-
I am also glad they took Beja Flor out cause it definately sounded commerical and non shpongle. Yes, the tracklisting looks more mind challenging like Are You Shpongled ? I truly hope it will be that psychedelic cause I like them more psychedelic than freestyle like Tales Of The Inexpressible.
-
Well, alpha this is in some way psy ambient and why not to post reviews about quality non psy music ? People should know about any good electronic music that at least have something in common with 'our' genre. This and other 2 albums by FSOL can surely be seen as psy ambient.

FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - LIFEFORMS 1994 ASTRALWERKS CD 1 1. CASCADE 2. ILL FLOWER 3. FLAK 4. BIRD WINGS 5. DEAD SKIN CELLS 6. LIFEFORMS 7. EGGSHELL 8. AMONG MYSELVES CD 2 1. DOMAIN 2. SPINELESS JELLY 3. INTERSTAT 4. VERTICAL PIG 5. CEREBRAL 6. LIFE FORM ENDS 7. VIT 8. OMNIPRESENCE 9. ROOM 208 10. ELABORATE BURN 11. LITTLE BROTHER Here is one of the best FSOL albums they ever made. This album was nothing but mindblowing back in 94 and I am sure people got absolutely crazy when they heard it. I haven't heard it when it was released but in 96, just closely before I heard Dead Cities. Even though Accelerator was pretty good album, I consider this one as their true first album or should I say beginning of FSOL journey. This album totally lasts for 100 minues and those 100 minutes are absolute bliss for ears. Gentle, organic melodies of life forming are followed by sophisticated harmonies and amazing effects. Their sound is unique and they certainly know how to create atmosphere. This is one of the most atmospheric albums ever. If you like your brain to be soothen and taken care of you should get this album even though half of dozen people here already own it cause it is cult release. But for all of you newcommers that never heard this, GET IT now, while you are reading this...hehe... I like of course all songs here too, without exceptions...AMAZING...11/10

FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - ISDN 1995 ASTRALWERKS 1. JUST A FUCKING IDIOT 2. THE FAR OUT SON OF LUNG AND RAMBLINGS OF A MADMAN 3. APPENDAGE 4. SLIDER 5. SMOKIN JAPANESE BABE 6. YOU'RE CREEPING ME OUT 7. EYES POP - SKIN EXPLODES - EVERYBODY DEAD 8. IT'S MY MIND THAT WORKS 9. DIRTY SHADOWS 10. TIRED 11. EGYPT 12. KAI 13. AMOEBA 14. A STUDY OF SIX GUITARS Here is another platinum album by great british ambient producers. After Accelerator and then Lifeforms they delivered pretty trippy, even more dark release than before. After this album was followed by even more experimental Dead Cities. This album pushes boundaries of modern story telling into presenting this world in pre apocalyptic era. Dead Cities tells story afterwards but this one exactly sounds like the danger is coming. Whole feel is about inevitabilty, twisted gimmiks, alien noises, and again melancholic melodies that drag and suppress your brain into some different conciousness. I also like all songs on this one as well and cannot name favourite ones...Pure perfection...10/10

FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON - DEAD CITIES 1996 ASTRALWERKS 1. HERD KILLING 2. DEAD CITIES 3. HER FACE FORMS IN SUMMERTIME 4. WE HAVE EXPLOSIVE 5. EVERYONE IN THE WORLD IS DOING SOMETHING WITHOUT ME 6. MY KINGDOM 7. MAX 8. ANTIQUE TOY 9. QUAGMIRE/IN A STATE OF PERMANENT ABYSS 10. GLASS 11. YAGE 12. VIT DROWNING/ THROUGH YOUR GILLS I BREATHE 13. FIRST DEATH IN THE FAMILY Here is one of the best ambient/electronica releases ever. This beautifully structured journey through post apocalyptic Earth is among most quality produced, drug induced psychedelic experiences. Famous duo, Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans made this masterpiece after 2 great masterpieces Lifeforms and ISDN. Their first album Accelerator was stunning album but surely no classic. They developed certain, original sound that fixated them in the hall of most prominent electronica producers ever. After this album, they quit making music for some time and came back with less than average The Isness which is by any means their weakest effort to date. This album was completely new approach to electronic music combining all of the quailites they could use out of various genres in music : from deep, housey rhythms, over dark ambiental and thru hard, chaotic structures. Every song is piece of artistry here, without any exception. Their usage of alien sounds, twisted pads and melancholic melodies really clashed here and through insanely trippy production and feel gave the best ambient album of all time. Lifeforms and ISDN are no exceptions since they are ultimately trippy and psychedelic as well. Those 3 albums give great feel of trilogy and I cannot separate them. This album is like a finish of this wonderful trilogy...Simply amazing. Favourites: ALL...11/10

Hey Jon Cocco, I have Synthetic - 100 % Pure and even though it is completely different than Transwave music I still like it more than Deedrah project. It is dark, gloomy and chaotic trance with some crazy freestyle songs that could not be defined. I quite liked that album just because it showed other side of him that is not melodic. He used clever sounds, metallic noises and some distorted melodies. However, new Absolum, I've heard only 3 songs and to be honest they are not even remotely close to the old Absolum sound ( 98-00 ) where he made best music as Absolum - Indigo ( you remember that progressed goa track ), Biologic, XS and others from that period. All in all, maybe they are visiting sites and see people screaming for their old sound so maybe they do decide to UPDATE their art of noise.
-
No, Lemmi, that is why I mentioned cause I was confused with it too. Bare in mind that I heard Christophe playing 3 years ago and he already had his Absolum project and back then I was expecting set in atmosphere of Wild album and he gave me amazing perfromance without single track from that album and that confused me. However, when I heard Dado playing I expected more melodies and instead he gave me more minimalish performance starting with Man With No Name - Axis Flip continuing directly to X- Dream - Psychomachine. How weird is that ? After that he continued with minimal trance for hour or so after which he finally played one of his songs...But last time, 5 months ago when I was on last Christophe party he played more demented stuff but they were not banging/minimal but rather wild and crazy. I liked that set much more than Dado's. I got turned off by Dado with his last album - Body & Soul which I find completely uninspired and boring, so maybe he really did lost touch with himself somehow...

---> POLL : Which collaboration would you prefer?
seraph replied to Manuser's topic in General Psytrance
I can't choose one but three : ASTRAL PROJECTION VS. DIMENSION 5 is my first pick...pretty stunning combination PLEIADIANS VS. DIMENSION 5 - Cyber Spacey Psychedelic Madness CHI A.D. VS. JUNO REACTOR - Psychedelic Goa World Music -
Heh, Dragonflier, banging tech trance ? I wouldn't call it banging at all but more chill tech trance...
