Huuuh ! Amazing if it is true. I mean, I believe you Anoebis but after those bad news and 5 years of waiting, I completely gave up. But, I've heard Guy is preparing new Passenger album. I can't believe that even MFG stated using full on bass line ! That is as bad as Electric Universe used it for Cosmic Experiment and event hough there are Boris melodies, they somehow don't go with that bass line. But, nevermind, I hope for new MFG to be rather good.

JEFF MILLS - METROPOLIS 2000 TRESOR 1. ENTRANCE TO METROPOLIS 2. PREFACTURE : SOMEWHERE AROUND NOW 3. THEY WHO LAY BENEATH 4. CONVICTED TO PARADISE 5. THE KEEPING OF THE KEPT 6. LANDSCAPE ( UTOPIAN DREAM ) 7. BLUEPRINTS 8. TRANSFORMATION A 9. TRANSFORMATION B 10. ROBOT REPLICA 11. REVOLT 12. FLOOD 13. THE STORM AMONG US 14. SILENCE 15. NEW BEGINNING This concept album made by one of the pioneers of techno, Jeff Mills is classical piece of ambient, electronic techno. He made music for Fritz Lang silent classic - Metropolis. He done exactly scene by scene making it as a whole journey. He blended all sorts of styles, ranging from gentle ambience to more groovy downbeat techno. His ideas for this release were great. He made different soundscapes and succeded in presenting the imaginary world of future city. This album is an amazing achievement and I am glad that someone decided to do this kind of thing, in techno world. I like all songs, they all make perfect sense considering he directed every each one of them for each scene in the film so I can't name any favourite ones. This is very good release and everyone should own it if they are into intelligent electronic music. 10/10

SPEEDY J - LIVE 1995 PLUS 8 1. SYMMETRY 2. THE OIL ZONE 3. PING PONG 4. PEPPER 5. SCARE TACTICS 6. FUSION 7. THE FUN EQUATIONS 8. G SPOT Here is live recording of one of Speedy J live perfromances in Holland. There is half of G Spot album combined with few singles he released before. This is very good release, even though it could be longer, running time is 54 minutes. I wouldn't mind being longer considering very good music that is on. The comp begins with stunning ambient song SYMMETRY which is perfect as opener. Its mellow structure and spacey sounds give great feel that is almost enchanting. After this great opener comes 2 songs from G Spot that are one of the best from it. Then comes his trance hit single PEPPER that is simply amazing. I love that track, it is groovy and bouncey. SCARE TACTICS is another great song also pretty trancey and tribal. FUSION is the longest one and most trippy one and it lasts 11:30 minutes. THE FUN EQUATIONS and G SPOT are also from the album and he finished nicely this live but as I said, it could have been longer...10/10

It was Juno Reactor - Transmissions and the most popular singles from that album were High Energy Protons, Acid Moon and Laughing Gas.

Yeah, and not only Project 2 Trance comp, there were already Juno Reactor, Eat Static, Blue Planet Corporation and X-Dream started making psy at that time. There is even german label Gaia Tontrager that started releasing Psy Goa back in 93 too...so Psy did started back then but it was very rare and at beginning. Real expansion of Psy/Goa actually started in 1994. Techno actually started back in 1990-91 and that was a silly one but still very effective.

Hey Lemmi, why are you always trying to be politically correct ? I know you are moderator of this site but that doesn't mean you have to be always right. The fact is that such persona even though he has very good production, great covers and some nice effects he uses them wrongly, making utter deviacy of trance sounds. Plus, he blasphemise entire genre by being disgustingly pretentious and immature. Enough said.

Of course there are BAD BOYS in music. I absolutely agree about SKAZI being one of the worst. But real antichrist must be XENOMORPH eben though I like some of his music. he uses satanistic chants and words in his albums and makes pretty hard, dark psy. I like some of the trax but the rest is simply pretentious. I don't like this new deviacy INFECTED MUSHROOM are making even though I adored them before. I also agree that all this Israeli clones are getting over the line as well ( VOID, PARANORMAL ATTACK, CYBER CARTEL, INTERGALACTIC ). Some real problem happend to X-DREAM and they started to produce very lame experimental efforts like last 2 albums - Irritant and We Interface.

SPACETIME CONTINUUM & TERRENCE MCKENNA - ALIEN DREAMTIME 1993 ASTRALWERKS 1. ARCHAIC REVIVAL 2. TRANSIENT GENERATOR 3. ALIEN LOVE 4. SPEAKING IN TONGUES 5. AEROBATIC 6. TIMEWAVE ZERO I know that this has nothing to do with trance or trance culture but this album is very special one. It is made by Jonah Sharp, ambient producer from California and most popular american neo phillosopher Terrence McKenna. Whole album is pure ambient journey with Terrence elaborate phillosophy about life, people but specifically DMT experience. All of the popular samples in tracks are taken from this record. Simon Posford used them, Infinity Project, 1200 Mics etc. This album is only for real junkies and phillosophers cause not everyone can accept one hour of constant brain activity through very clever words this guy is saying. Whole album has incredible concept and it is recorded live so you can hear ovations cause he really makes sense while he is speaking. I so much wanted to be there then, to hear this great man doing his wise prefromance. I cannot name favourite song cause it really work as a whole. 10/10

VATOS LOCOS - ATTACK AND RELEASE 2004 DRAGONFLY 1. ATTACK AND RELEASE 2. BURNING ILLUSION 3. TRIPMONX 4. INNOVATO 5. GATES OF DAWN 6. HIGHWAY 420 7. ACID MARIA 8. MAYA DEVA 9. GENERATION GAP After finding out about this album, I had high expectations considering that Nick Barber aka Doof, Celli aka Earthling and Xavier aka Violet Sky were involved. First I thought that it would be some kind of psychedelic album and in fact it is not, it is pure progressive trance which I like also but I couldn't see that trio doing it. Nevertheless, this album is not bad, it is quite good and fresh in fact, but it needs something to be great. I really expected blast of an album and I got only fresh, new prog trance album. There are few things I mind, like not enough developed bass line and I can't hear Doof's melodies anywhere. There are his sounds, but no melodies. I think that anyone who likes progressive in general will like this album. Psychedelic freaks will hate it cause there aren't so many variations. All in all, cute album but that is it. Best songs : ATTACK AND RELEASE, BURNING ILLUSION, GATES OF DAWN, ACID MARIA, MAYA DEVA...7/10

PLASTIKMAN - CONSUMED 1998 MINUS 1. CONTAIN 2. CONSUME 3. PASSAGE IN 4. COR TEN 5. CONVULSE 6. EKKO 7. CONVERGE 8. LOCOMOTION 9. IN SIDE 10.CONSUMED 11. PASSAGE OUT After reviewing his album Artifakts that was very good, I had to review this one that is even better than that one. This guy really knows how to make minimal ambience without sounding boring or bad. His creative way of presenting ideas are always precise and without any bull shit. This album is one of his best ambient works. It has very smooth, distinctive sounds and atmosphere. Even though it has minimal structure, he somehow manages to create certain world that goes into some primal realms. He uses great pads that just float into your brain. Everyone that like their brain massage should get this album cause it is not pretentious as some ambient releases tend to be. Richie Hawtin is one of the most prominent british ambient/techno artists. It is real shame he is not making this kind of music anymore. When I heard him live, he was playing pretty monotonous, yet energised minimal techno. I like all songs but the best ones are : CONTAIN, CONSUME, CONVERGE, LOCOMOTION, IN SIDE, CONSUMED...10/10

ASTRAL PILOT - ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE 1995 HARTHOUSE 1. ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE 2. SKIN PROBE 3. INTO MY BRAIN 4. KUKU SESSION 5. NEEDLE DRAMA 6. THE DAY AFTER Here is another older release that is pretty interesting but lacks something nevertheless. Maybe it is because 2 great producers were involved and I expected it to be better. Sven Vath and Stevie B-Zet joined forces to create pretty experimental trancey/ambient album. Beside great talent and good sounds they produce, this album tends to loose somewhere. ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE is pretty drifty, trancey piece of music and it is quite interesting. SKIN PROBE is not that bad but it just lacks something. INTO MY BRAIN is pretty good song, it is quite experimental and demented. KUKU SESSION is bouncey and solid but it could have been done better. NEEDLE DRAMA is also pretty experimental with crazy sounds and structure. But then comes the best one on album - THE DAY AFTER, ambient trance journey and I absolutely LOVE this song. If they only made an album like this song, it would be stunning. This dreamy, floaty piece of music is worth the whole disc actually cause it even lasts 21 minutes. All in all, this is pretty nice release but it could have been done better considering the brains behind it. Still, nice to have in your collection. 7/10

Huh, yes, I agree, i find him as one of the best compositional artists. Even though he released only 2 albums, those 2 are pure classics, plus some singles that were good too. I feel bad if he started making radio-friendly music with vocals. His songs Alien Earth Activity, Master Of The Universe, Unstable, Predator, Unobtanium, Pure Intellect are pure perfections. I am sorry he is not in trance anymore. Respect
-
Huh, and I actually hoped that he might do interesting remix of it. Shame. But maybe it is your opinion and taste. Maybe, I'd like it, who knows. To be honest, I was really expecting a lot from Rehashed compilation considering the artists and I quite like idea of remixing good songs, no matter how good they were. Just that is not remixes of Astral Projection and album Ten that was pretty dissapointing. I don't know, I'll check soon this comp and see it for myself.
-
I think that no matter when they released it, people will still buy it no matter the content. Shpongle became synonym for trippy ambient and I bet everyone will get it, no matter when. I just truly hope there won't be more of the Beja Flor non sense on this album. That song could have been better but Raja Ram ruined it at the end. It just sounded too disco/samba for my taste. Where is the trippiness ? I hope well for the album.
-
That looks yummy except Raja Ram. I don't like his sets, way too childish. But Hallucinogen, Prometheus, 1200 Mics, Eat Static...
-
This looks and sounds perfect. I am looking forward this release definately.

looking for that rare "super-melodic-psy" stuff !

Well, his first album was much more trancey in fact and has some even psychedelic songs where second one was more on the chill/journey side. There are songs on Wildlife On One that were hits : MOSQUITO, OCTOPUS, GLORIA, KALEIDOSCOPE...But you are going to ADORE Terra Ferma albums, especially first one - Turtle Crossing. It is very melodic, tribal, lyrical, delicate trance album and it is among my favourite pure trance albums ever. -
Hey Nefarious, I haven't heard Parasense - Plastic Man but will look for even though I don't like Parasense that much. I don't think this album has to do with any trilogy but yes, albums Music, Consumed and Artifakts are all ambient journeys and they can be seen as some kind of trilogy. If you haven't heard, you should listen to Music as well, no matter it is his first album, it is still very good one... MUSIC - 9/10 CONSUMED - 10/10 ARTIFAKTS - 8/10
-
Yes, he has that certain delicacy that very rarely someone has. His structures are very smooth, delicate and to the point. I like that feel of experimental alien atmosphere and sophisticated pads. I haven't heard Ginger yet, but Pepper is one hell of a song. I haven't heard his house projects cause I am not at all interested in such genre.
