totally agreed - it's the way of understanding the music more than a definition of some style. ..like in trance you can hear many different sounds - ethno/tribal goa, jazz samples over ausie psy progressive (like zenon etc), weird suomi disko and so on. Trax seem quite different, but they all are trance musik, so the same with IDM - some of the stuff sounds more like minimal dub, some - academical music over clicks n'cuts or like yagya - minimal ambient.. by the way, today Sutemos netlable are throwing a party in my hometown (Vilnius/Lithuania) and Yaga will be playin Live as well

you sure have to check MUM - very nice band from Iceland also there is a groundbreaking album from Alva Noto & Ryuchi Sakamoto Max Richter - very nice Flanger early works - cool IDM jazz check Matthew Herbert's works - not IDM in particular, but very close to it (his wife's Danni Siciliano's solo work - veery nice and more IDMish) Murcof - a canadian producer - a journey through minimal IDM flavoured with academical music samples someone already mentioned Yagya.. also : Ruxpin Tipper FusedMark dead beat (IDM/minimal/dub) and many many more - a large genre indeed
