    Lauge - Dawn

Label: Iboga Records Country: Denmark Released: 01 Feb 2019 Style: Downtempo, Psy-Trance, Progressive Trance Bandcamp Tracklist: 1. Undercurrent 08:29 2. Northbound 10:13 3. Taiga 08:40 4. Wider Horizons (Album edit) 10:42 5. Kamchatka 08:49 6. Juvenile 09:38 7. Wandering Off... 10:21 8. Cassiopeia 07:12 Lauge is Henrik Laugesen, an ambient producer from Denmark. This is his first psy-prog album for Iboga, and it's pretty darn good. The melodies are lush and those basslines are thick. It's not surprising, as Iboga is always the mark of high quality. Of course, there are some boring releases in the Iboga's catalog, but fortunately, Dawn by Lauge is far from being boring. REVIEW 1. Undercurrent 08:29 Slow beats merge with epic melodies in this opening track. Sounds very promising and inspiring. It's a strong start and I can already feel that this album is going to be quite a journey. 4/5 2. Northbound 10:13 I'm sure this will sound like a cliche, but listening to this track makes you feel like floating in the sky. It's super airy and dreamy. But it does get a bit more intense closer to the middle. The breakdown in the middle introduces some very gentle, almost transparent strings that add extra dimension to the melodic element of the track. As a result, the entire second half sounds really beautiful. If there is progressive heaven, this is it. 5/5 3. Taiga 08:40 Here is another slow builder. But unfortunately it doesn't build up to anything significant. This is quite a subpar track in comparison to the first two openers. 3/5 4. Wider Horizons (Album edit) 10:42 The beginning of the track feels really tight and engaging. Then, some fine synths enter the scene and launch the track into the stratosphere. The first breakdown happens at around 6 minutes just to let the listener take a breath. But then it hits once again reminding you just how powerful this whole piece can be. Definitely one of the best tracks on the album. 5/5 5. Kamchatka 08:49 I love how this track starts. Super mysterious with deep voices, very dramatic. Too bad there is no interesting progression to follow. I'm a bit disappointed, because that intro was incredible. Oh well... 3/5 6. Juvenile 09:38 So many producers these days have the tendency to put filler tracks in their albums, and Juvenile is the definition of a filler. It's not bad enough to completely dismiss it, but it also isn't good enough to put it in high regard. Although, I have to say that the second part has something interesting going on, it's still not enough to rate it more than an above average track. 3/5 7. Wandering Off... 10:21 A this point I just needed something good. And my wish came true. Wandering Off is a gorgeous piece of music with a fascinating melody and progression. Lauge gives enough time for a listener to soak in every single tone shift, and I am really grateful for that. This is a feel-good track of the album. 4/5 8. Cassiopeia 07:12 The closing track of the album is a very fine chill-out piece. It is nothing extraordinary, but it works well and finishes things off in a classic way. 4/5 --- Dawn by Lauge is a very strong progressive album with some amazing tracks. There are a few filler tracks as well, but what album these days doesn't have them. The best tracks on the album are Northbound and Wider Horizons. These two stand out from the rest due to their sheer emotional power. Of course, I wish that all tracks would have such an effect on me, but that's probably not possible. I just know that I will be listening to those two many times and never get tired. 4/5
  2. There are many cultures which use psychedelics not to get high, but to understand the supreme and listen to it. For them these plants have psychological and religious properties. This article talks about five such ecosystems around the world.
  3. Ticon - Mirage (Iboga CD97) Tracklist 1 Mirage 7:38 2 Out Foxed 8:18 3 Tripticon 6:24 4 Entropy 8:30 5 Stimulant 8:10 6 Behind The Wall 9:17 7 Violent Serenity 8:27 8 Ether (Album Edit) 8:06 9 Useless Loop 4:51 I was not a super fan of Ticon back in the days; I prefered SonKite, but I have to say this new album really stood out *by far* amongst all the non-goa music I listened to recently. Mirage is a blatantly progressive album. It's not as experimental as other Ticon productions, although it has very well put touches of electronica, and every track sounds like it's crafted with love and is an instant catch. The album starts with an eponymous, cinematic track, with pretty intense breaks, almost giving goosebumps. The sound is crispy, alive. Nothing else to say, just enjoying. Out Foxed is more classic, TIcon fans will like it. There's a nice trancy, then acidish break that makes it really enjoyable. Tripticon is a nice progressive track. Honnestly we're not offroad here, but it's well done, balanced, and not monotonous with its nice melodies in the end. Great. Entropy follows up where Mirage left. Cinematic, aerial, catchy, scratchy, with a solid groove and a superb production. It's like a storm over a summer evening. Awesome track. I like how Ticon manage to make such carefully crafted tracks sound simply enjoyable. If you were looking for more experimental tracks, Stimulant is for you. It makes me think of Star Sounds Orchestra for instance. A rock solid kick/bass couple, ethnic influences, original instruments. Wow. You felt it coming since the beginning, Mirage also has an electro layer. Behind The Wall at last unveils it completely. Just sharp and great! Violent Serenity is more classical. It's not something you've never heard but it completely deserves its place in the album. Ether is yet another of these cinematic tracks that Ticon 2016 can make. That's the little sister of Entropy and Mirage that they can blindly play on a morning! Useless Loop is at the crossroads of progressive, electronica and house. A smooth finisher. To me, Mirage is the best progressive album I've heard in a long time. Go get it!
  4. Tripswitch is back with his 3rd album. I was very happy with the news until I saw the label, IBOGA. Its not the beautiful chillout downtempo that we know him for. Its Progressive. ( Read his reason for the shift! ) Check out for yourself and see if you like Samples, Video , Pre - orders and bunch of stuff over here : http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/tripswitch-vagabond What do you guys think? Will it be a good album to enter the genre of progressive.? I wish he made more stuff like Circuit Breaker.

  7. IBOGA RECORDS PRESENTS: EVERLASTING Selected and mixed by GAUDI Iboga Records kicks off 2012, with ‘Everlasting’ – a compilation selected and mixed by Gaudi of exclusive new and unreleased tracks from an international group of artists who have defined, not only a genre but an era in electronic music – a who’s who’s of the movers and shakers including The Orb, System 7, Eat Static, Trentemoller and Lulu Rouge. Put simply over 2 hours of immaculately produced and sonically stimulation deep moody electro. Iboga’s aim, through this compilation, was to set a milestone in the extensive landscape of electronic music; to present an original and timeless collection of tracks from some of the most talented artists the scene has to offer. Sonic freethinker Gaudi steps up to the mark, once again proving his credentials as a skilled man of music and has, most importantly, properly addressed the two major keystones of a successful compilation without compromising one or the other - the names and the vision of the listening experience. Collectively the influence of the artists in this compilation have spanned the last 40 years of electronic music and it is nothing if not testament to their skills that they are still leading the field! The Orb who forever changed the face of electronic dance music and System 7, pioneers of early experimental electronica, both instrumental in the birth of electronic chill out, sit alongside Gaudi the musical chameleon - who’s been kicking down the genre walls for the last 30 years. Psychedelic pioneers Eat static and Shpongle who have grown a cult following around their distinctive brands of psychedelic journeying feature well with fellow compatriot Tripswitch - king of the well sculpted psychedelic smooth-groove. In collaboration with Shpongle is The Alan Parson’s Project - bringing long established and highly respected production skills to the table. The inclusion of Dub legend and the maverick in the pack Mad Professor adds an elegantly placed other dimension to the collection as well as an important nod of respect to the genre of Dub to which Electro-chill owes so much. Tipper, a man responsible for expanding sound with his trademark exquisite production and emotive sonic mastery and Pete Namlook - highly acclaimed and ever prolific ambient producer feature with Lamb who's loyal and almost cult following has seen them weather the storms over the last 15 years in the evolution of their sound. One of New Zealands most notable musical exports Pitch Black add their distinctive dubbed out bass vibes to the pot along with Athenian bass-man and protagonist of all things dub and electro Vlastur. Screen (a side project of the Orb’s Alex Paterson, Gaudi & veteran UK ‘scenester’ Chester) stamp their mark with their well honed yet reassuringly edgy sound and fly the flag for London alongside enigmatic production duo and relentless frequency foragers Vacuum Science and Capes - with his deftly delivered spacious raga infused dubstep. An always innovative and distinctively atmospheric Scandinavian sound is extremely well represented in the hands of Denmark’s Lulu Rouge. Trentemøller - the man with a sonic vision and a particular skill in delivering it sits alongside Sweden’s Krusseldorf - who’s incredibly diverse works range from industrial experimental ambient to classical. Funsui (the new project from Paolo Polcari) also appears and leaves us with no question as to why his is known as a king of the cinematic sound. Variant Field, the US collaborative project between Amani (of Desert Dwellers) and Alex DeYoung, open this epic journey with ‘Fields Of Variance’. Also from the US is fellow sound evolutionary Bird of Prey adding a solid punch with his spacious electro-dub vibes. Gaudi has also added a special extra depth dimension of his own in the form of two of his new remixes (done especially for the comp) of two great heavyweights - The Orb and Trentemøller - neither need introduction and the impressive tracks also speak for themselves! It is a long and impressive list but Everlasting is much, much more than that ..it is an inspiring, engaging and first-rate listen.
