Guest Hujaboy Posted February 13, 2002 Posted February 13, 2002 Its somthing between an album and an ep it has only seven trax was released on TIP Quote
Guest tj Posted February 13, 2002 Posted February 13, 2002 And it was called PSYCHOPOD back then and it carried the warning "Dangerous to the apathetic mind, rumours of death by astonishment have been reported". indeed. Quote
Guest kingdok Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 A tracklist would be nice. I'd like to know if they're going to include all the material previously released on various recent compilations, or all-new stuff. I'm hoping for the latter. Quote
Guest russ Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 the headline EP was truly astonishing. i am sure this one will be fantastic, but it's going to sound very different. (unfortunately for me.) the new saikopod project is more aimed at clubland, even though the incredible production will still give it a psychedelic edge. Quote
Guest [tom jaimz] Posted February 14, 2002 Posted February 14, 2002 Personally I see a lot of difference between the Psychopod and Saikopod projects. Saikopod are more funkier, clubier. The original promos of the last Koxbox album ['Great Unknown'] were originally under the Saikopod name. And Solstice probably don't release vinyl simply because they're based out of Japan, and Japan, being a more technologically advanced nation, have no doubt long since rejected the inferior vinyl medium for DJing. Guest russ Posted February 15, 2002 Posted February 15, 2002 and there's no coincidence that they changed names from psychopod to saikopod. the old tracks as psychopod were truly psycho--they used to send people up trees a few years back. incredibly mental stuff. by far and away the most powerful set i have ever seen (nothing has been even remotely close) was koxbox/psychopod/franke for five hours three years ago in the mountains of japan. totally did my head in, in the best possible way. so psychologically intense. their sound was crafted prinarily in psychological, and not musical, terms. unfortunately frank and ion abandoned that sound and went for "Saikopod." "saiko" is a japanese word whose characters literally mean "most high." i tend to associate it with e-chomping gurners who like to shout at me "saiko!" with big silly grins on their faces when i am in the middle of a deep trip. most disturbing, in the worst possible way. i personally feel the huge commercial Solstice parties koxbox has played in japan over the years probably played something of a part in the transformation of their sound from psychologically-intense to crowd-friendly. to be honest, it's kind of depressing for me. those two guys are the most talented fuckers in the world, and now they are wasting that talent on club music. it's still utterly fantastic stuff, but nothing compared to headlines or dragon tales, or more importantly, to what they could be doing with their new production skills and toys.
