Hels
Who do you think the best (read: your favorite) DJ is? And what's the best mix you ever heard? (recorded mostly but I'd like to hear of some live ones if you can remember it well!)
Guest Flying Kundalini
The best DJ ( for psytrance ) is definetley Flying Kundalini.. truely AMAZING on the decks followed closely by Dimitri Nakov.. ;-)

Guest Raider
Me... Hmmm, haven't analysed any DJs, but I liked DJ Leeloo set in Amager Bio with X-Dream/The Delta/M.O.S.
Guest E-klektik
I don't know of any 'big name' psytrance DJs yet so I can't name a favorite there. [perhaps it will be myself some day?] But at the first rave I went to I got to witness Sandra Collins. She was pretty amazing. Saw Monk of Rabbit in the Moon DJ live and that was absolutely mindblowing! He didn't stick to one genre - he'd play 70's funk, house, dark techno, industrial, anything! And the way he made it all flow was incredible. Being in the upper midwest US there isn't much psytrance exposure. I'd love to learn about more psy djs though! Guest Bruno
FEIO!!!! DJ FEIO! BooM! He's the best DJ I've seen! Many of you probably don't know him though, because he's Brazilian and plays mostly if not only in Brazil. Come here to see him sometime! You will thank God you did! take care, Bruno
Tatsu
hi E-klektik, i'm just curious: what style in psy do you spin: melodic, full on, minimal, everything?
Guest Avneesh
me! then my brother Roopak!
Guest Mescalinium
The best set I have ever seen was spun by none other than Raja Ram. He maintained an ever increasing intensity level for over 2 hours. Absolutely amazing.
Guest Elysium Project
Does any DJ's anymore dj more than 2 - 3 hours? In my opinion a real DJ is a DJ that can maintain and feed a happy and hungry dancefloor / crowd for 5 - 8 hours or more (anyone ever do 12 hour sets anymore?). It seem as if most DJ's do their 2 hour sets and then that's it! So have anyone expereinced this kind of DJ's?
Guest Mahoney
Elysium: Yess,, one/two dj´s allnight is the ultimate, often when there is just 1,5-2 hours you/they just play the top tracks you got, you don´t have time for more, there is not enough time for building, the only thing that matters is the big names on the flyers I guess... Guest E-klektik
tatsu- gosh, i guess i'm new enough not to know the difference in styles of psy yet. wanna help me out? here's a list of artists i've been playing: infected mushroom, mwnn, x-dream, hallucinogen, astral projection, organic noise, atmos, passenger, biot, morphem, digital sun, tim schuldt, and i've just recently discovered the wonders of hux flux. many of these artists i have on a compilation a friend put together for me. otherwise i've been finding the reviews section of this site to be very helpful in directing me to new artists/albums. i download what i can to get a taste, then if i like it i try to by the vinyl or cd. i'd been spinning ebm and industrial for a few years now. it's getting old and boring. now that i've discovered the joys of goa/psy, i've decided to focus on that. the music is fuller and gritty and bouncy and energetic in a way that i'd been seeking for so long! my heart has found it's nitch! Miss E-klektik (sorry this isn't really following the "best dj?" thread header. heh - i'm new here.) *wink*
Guest etherdesign
I heard Richie Hawtin do a 12 hour set once at this 3 day outdoor party, that was pretty cool.. Of course, I didn't stay for the whole thing because there were 5 more tents with music..

Tatsu
E-klektik seem like a nice mixture of everything in your goa vinyl-case... must be nice to hear one of your sets for me 'cause i like most of the stuff you mentioned. as soon as you are a big and famous dj come to switzerland for a gig and i will check it out... ;-)
Guest russ
hey elysium project, there are still some dj's that play long sets, and i agree they are by far the most interesting. 2 hours for trance is a complete waste of time, it's just like dropping your favorite comp in the player. there's no chance to create a mood. anti likes to play long. he and philip played a 13-hour team set a while back. mapusa mapusa also does wicked long sets with his partner fabio, ideally they like to play for 8 hours. mahasuka is another brilliant dj who likes longer sets. he says 5 hours is nice, and he refuses to play anything less than 3. (i saw philip and mahasuka play a 6-hour set in thailand over new year, and it was brilliant.) the dj's i mentioned above, in addition to being long-players, are probably the best dj's out there these days.
