Guest AutoMath
Long sets!! Long sets!! There is a little trick that you can do as a dj if you are playing a massive long set. You can play one of your "special" tracks early in the night say 00.30 and then play the same track at say 6.30 / 7.00 in the morning. The times I've heard people do this like dj Anti and dj Acan the effect has been enormous. When you hear the track for the second time the same night but with many hours in between, it feels like the track played out is an old classic that you know by heart, however you can't recall what it is because you have never heard the track before that night. Feels very strange, but totally rips the dancefloor to pieces.. However.. please don't over-use this trick.
Guest russ
i believe yaniv from hadshot did this at the hungary solipse party for the pre-eclipse set. he had an all-nighter of a set, and i could swear he brought the set full circle, finishing where he started off. wonderful set! Guest russ
hey aje, i agree emok can go on forever. he played for me at a party i did this last summer, and he didn't want to get off stage! i was wondering around the camp site 45 minutes after his set was supposed to be over, and i realized the music was still going and that it was my job to turn it off for the afternoon, otherwise emok was going to play into the night for sure! he even managed to get back on stage the next afternoon for a bit more. his mixing is ridiculously good--i would say he is about as good technically as a trance dj is ever going to be. (for the next level you would have to find some techno dj.) for the party we had mapusa mapusa, emok, mahasuka, and james monro, so it was a cool chance for me to compare the best dj's out there. i would say james has the most stage charisma and presence, emok was the best mixer, mahasuka was by far the deepest and smoothest, and mapusa was the crowd favorite. maybe mapusa had an edge because he played the final set on the 2nd day, but he seemed to have the best feel and most concern for the crowd, so he was the dj of the party (while mahasuka was the best dj for the night). but they all rocked! (by the way, has anyone seen Sascha Bitmonx play? he is supposed to be very very good.)
