Guest kingdok
The question's been kicked around numerous times, but I've never heard a definitive answer : Is Blue Room still functioning? Their website's still up, albeit fat from current. It's the surviving artists that matter, but still, I'd like to know what's up.
Guest kingdok
"'Far' from current", that is.

Guest --==MileS==--
Kinda strange with the best selling psyartist of 2000 under their wings; Juno Reaktor's Shango shed quite a few copies, it was even in the CDNOW top 10 back then (although it was the licensed Metropolis version). Besides its one of the few labels that didn't follow the progressive bandwagon jumping @!#$ (thats how I see it) and came along with their own psy-breakbeat style (acid rockers, spectral, deviant electronics)... But I guess its an indication that spectral released in november 2000 was their last stand....sad sad sad...if 1 label doesn't deserve a slow death its Blueroom but whoever said the world is fair... Guest Elysium Project
Well Blueroom Records is owned by Blueroom loudspeakers Ltd. and as far as I have been told the Mother company did not want to release more psy. They have for years been releasing world music, jazz and other experimental stuff and will continue in that direction. By the way their speakers are awsome check them out here: blueroom loudspeakers Ltd.
Guest mad
yes i have a friend who have that speaker and i can told u that it is real sound they are littlle but the crash
Guest psyfi
yepp, minipods rule!! but i don't understand why blueroom ltd don't want to release psy anymore. blueroom rec. could always do as they wanted if i'm informed right. they could put out whatever they wished and had blueroom ltd with a lot of money backing them up! Guest Elysium Project
Well psyfi as we all know there's not that much money in releasing psy/goa....that's your explanation :-) They are a quite big company with stockholder's and therefore do have a responsability toward them and to make a profit! So it's obvious that the label had to be shut down when it was a fact that they actually lost money on that account!
Guest psyfi
well, that sounds logical! but will they make more money with jazz music?
Guest --==MileS==--
Just been browsing through the Blueroom catalogue, be prepared for some classix: Mystical Experiences - The Infinity Project Alien Protein - ETNICA Violent Relaxation - TOTAL ECLIPSE Dragon Tales - KOXBOX Mystic Cigarettes - SAAFI BROTHERS Radio - X-DREAM In Fear Of A Red Planet - CYDONIA Shango - JUNO REACTOR Well, if this psylabel can't be succesful then who can?
Guest Elysium Project
there'a a way bigger market for jazz in USA, Asia and Europe than psy. And the world music sell very well in USA and Europe too....
Guest --==Miles==--
Shpongle and Juno are kinda world music so there is still hope
Guest ndru
Wasnt Blue Room a tax write-off for the Mother record Company - Melt2000. If BlueRoom loses money then the mother company pays less tax. With all the demand for past releases that rarely get reprinted (and we know that br have money if not directly then indirectly) you kinda get the impression their hearts weren't in it. anyone selling acid rockers? Guest tj
Here's a little history about the blue room, as far as i know. The Mother company was B+W speakers originally, then Robert Trunz (an American, married to a South African woman, hence his interest in world music) bought out the the record label and pod speakers from B+W. The music was released under Blueroom Released, MELT 2000, and then also Electric Melt. In my view Blueroom were real pioneers and had a great vision in the early days with undoubtedly the best artists around at the time. They threw some great parties in their day. The minipods are nice, but the real beauty's were the techno pods and the house pods, much bigger versions, but sadly these are no longer made. Does anyone here have them? Guest Inu
So, what became of Simon Ghahary? Is he still around in the psy scene, or did he leave for good?
Guest mE
are those loudspeakers for parties or ... what? they don't look too powerful...

Guest mE
actually they look really pathetic. very small... and small speakers suck... they always got too much gain in the low end to compensate for their size...
Guest Elysium Project
mE obviously you don't know what you are talking about! Those speakers are among some of the finest studio speakers around! They have obtained numerous prices around the world! And small? The come in 6 sizes up till heavy very big studio towers! Guest tj
The minipod and the bass station are the only ones available, currently. There used to be the Techno Pod and the House Pod too, in all kinds of funky colours such as orange and magenta, but sadly they are no longer produced. If they ever make them again I would love to buy the Techno Pod. They were about 1200 GBP for a pair...depending on the colour. The Minipods are a little small for my tastes, but depending on your setup they may suit you. Plus the bass station could be used for that extra kick. I'm sure they would be good as monitors or in a home theatre set-up.
