Guest jsb
Why this forum if i can't give my opinion ? Nothing is perfect in this world, and giving opinions, bad or good is the only way to turn a debate. Don't you realize that you are the 24th dumb to post on this topic. If you post on this topic and i spread a bif vibe, just go post in the "my ten favorites tracks" topics instead. There's a lot of stuff to build someting interesting in that kind of topics

Tatsu
of course you have to give your opinion on a forum, as you said that's what it all is about here. i just wonder what kind of "debate" you expect when all you are saying is minimal is not evolution and people who don't see that are dump. do you think people will change their taste just because you tell them to? Guest bugbread
Beautiful phrasing from Slidingtrancer: "I get what they are doing, but don't like the outcome...". I don't think the issue here is anyone's opinion being right or wrong, but whether the phrasing is provocative or not. Compare: "I really dislike Band A's music" "Band A's music is donkeyshit for brain dead crack addicts" Same meaning, VERY different effect in a conversation. So, at the core, I agree with JSB that saying that a progression throughout the psy scene to minimal cannot really be called "innovation", in that if any more bands do it, it certainly isn't anything new or unique. As for evolution, it may or may not be, depends on your tastes and whether you interpret evolution in its dictionary sense of "change over time that is stable within an environment" (i.e. Britney Spears is also evolution within pop music) or the more common emotional interpretation (evolution as change over time that is "necessary" or "good"). I do agree that psy is changing to minimal, and that this is possibly evolutionarily stable, but I don't particularly like it. So new minimal albums are more evolved, but not better (in my opinion). But I respect all y'all that like the new style. Some people like baked fish, and I don't, and that's life.
