Guest trancer
hello everyone. I have both a Mac and a PC. the guy a bought my mac from is a an idiot. when i bought it he said i would receive programs and stuff but he gave me nothing. so yesterday he had a fight and he said i will buy it back..and that's cool with me..now to the question. My PC is 1.33 Ghz and has 256 in SDRAM. My studio has the following stuff and the moment: Korg Prophecy Roland Alpha Juno 1 Roland JD-800 Roland JP-8000 Roland MC-202 Waldorf Q Akai S-2000 Zoom RFX-1000 I am very bad on computers, so is my computer enough? The sequencer i will use is Logic Audio Platinum. and of course my synths.. Should i keep my money? or should i add some money and buy a new mac? if i don't buy a new one, can you please recomend a GOOD soundcard for my PC... Thanx everyone BOM
Guest mogwai
That PC should be fine. Maybe 256Meg more ram to bump it up to 512Mb. As for a sound card i don't know.

Guest Tegma
Logic Audio / Mac combination is killer and is widely used by most trance/techno/ house producers.. except Tegma;-)

tbe
For music Mac is the best of course.. It's weird to make music on a PC I think...
Guest didge
MOS have switched over their macs for pc's... apparently going quite well for them. And they have always used macs in the past... i'm a big mac boy - but not a closed-minded one, and, as MOS says, the PC's have caught up bigtime... Also, you get a mac, and have to replace the nice soundcard that comes included, which you pay good money for (in the overall price) and then cannot sell. Guest andy
in the past, macs have been a bit better. many musicians said that the midi timing is a bit better. today, with the superfast processors (athlon xp), windows xp, steinberg midex8 (midiinterface/supertiming) and most of the highend companies seeming to prefer producing products for pc (software/audiointerfaces) you save a lot of money if you buy a pc. in my eyes there´s no difference from mac to pc except the price!! we just bought a fully equipped pc (and sold our mac g3): athlon xp 1700+ 512 mb ddr ran (266mhz) ati radeon 7500 graphics card (2 outs for 2 monitors(i love it)) 2x ibm 40 gb hard disk cd burner dvd rom and a rme digi 96 audiointerface (8ins/8outs, same da/ad converters as in steinbergs nuendo interfaces) we use it with cubase vst 5.1+ a steinberg midex 8 midiinterface it´s rock solid, ultrafast, performs better than any computer we had before and is as expensive as a naked mac @ the same speed without any extra hardware and just 1 monitor. maybe in the future we will implement a raid system to improve our harddisk performance. right now, there´s no reason for that because we can´t reach the limits of that machine.
