i keep hearing everybody talking about how great rolling basslines are. What exactly is a rolling basslines. Is it the progressions?, whether in 4th or 8 or 16th notes? i want to know, so if you have the answer please reply

basslines that sound like theyre "rolling". drum n bass has this all the time.

 

i havent noticed much psy like that, maybe try 'gabriel le mar - why?'

Hey I use that phrase all the time in reviews. I kind of mean it when the bass sits nicely and it's less linear than just a bass stab on the on-beat. The notes are shorter but not like 16ths. Nothing to do with percussion really - just that the basslilne fits snugly below everything else and creates a nice non-linear feel.

when i think rolling bass, i think ozric tentacles.. wonderful basslines from those guys
