last set style recommendations?

I'm in the mood for buying some new cds, am looking for some hard, last-set-of-the-night style psytrance. Any recommendations? No cheesy bollocks please! Full-on acidy stomping tunes! The sort of music that forces you to dance until the end of the night, no matter how tired you are!

In my opinion the last set should not be full-on stomping acidic tunes. Although I suppose it depends on where the party is and what time it's finishing. But the true psychedelic journey should always be brought full-circle, and the last sets of the night should be relaxed stuff, hovering somewhere between 130 and 135 bpms.. some soft morning melodies and nice warm basslines that move you with energising you. The last sets are all about letting go of those last little bits of energy that have built up over the night - the full energy release should have occurred a few hours before, and it should now be winding down. For me, good end of party tracks are things like Tranaan's Moody, 12 Moons' Back 2 Basics, some of the sounds on Spiral Trax [Matenda, Atmos].. certainly nothing like the cold hard german techno of The Delta and Midi Miliz, and definitely not the french full-on like Neuromotor and Psyside. But Tromesa, Shiva Chandra, Auricular and to a small degree Process are all capable of end of party music.

totally agree..I can't stand those parties where the music just gets harder and harder and harder!!! - I find that in the UK the only decent parties can be found outdoors in the summer...most indoor parties are @!#$!!

Tony. WORD. @!#$ indoor parties. They are not worth it. Nowadays I'm almost only attending outdoor parties. Also I'm tired of this diffusion of the old traditions of trance. Trance is about the journey. Not about kicking on E to peak-music constantly for 12 hours. I'm not doing drugs so the music is of so much more of importance for me.

Variation is the key. Highs and lows. A low does not have to mean a lowdown. It can mean going into some deep mystical excursion into sound before gradually travelling upwards again. Something like taking the a little bit longer narrow but more beautiful animal-path in the woods instead of the wide man-made path straight from a to b. Kids today need to be educated about these virtues.

Sorry about the patronizing tone.

Whoa! I didn't mean to start a debate on whether or not this type of music is actually suitable for the last set! I've just found that the parties Ive been to since coming to new york have all finished with this type of music, and as Ive consistantly enjoyed the last hours of these parties most of all (without the help of E or anything else by the way), I was wondering where I could find similar tunes. I agree about parties in england though, I used to go to Return to the Source parties in Brixton - they were supposed to be psy parties but would end with hard trance/techno style stuff... I wasn't very impressed!

cheers for the recommendations guys

my bias leans towards the softer side of swedish trance, i.e. atmos, vibrasphere (monsoon or lava, NOT echo plantation, waaaaay too heavy [for the am]), maybe some ticon (the cozy cactus!), son kite has some good morning tunes like air play, bittersweet, aiwana. tranan - moody, as previously mentioned, is a perfect morning track IMO, anything of movers and groovers for that matter, i.e. zorba - the deep, qlap - peu ohm peu.

btw, i went to the d.drum label party in nyc, and i waited the entire night for the delta's live pa. FINALLY at 7:00 AM, they went on (after marcus and arne tag teamed for over an hour). Now I really love the delta, but a live set from these guys was just too much at such an early hour in the morning. For me, the delta epitomizes dark, heavy, nightime trance.

ooooh! I forgot about infected's The Missed Symphony (my personal favorite IM track). To me, this song would be the perfect morning set closer.
