Guest StoNeY!
Elysium, I just found your album "Monzoon" on psyshop, and since it's not listed in the reviews section here I'd like some more info about it. Is this your first album, what style is it, etc... Already ordered it cause I had some mp3's from audiogalaxy which I liked, hope I won't be disappointed... Guest Raider
Its kinda old Goa Trance, with a lot of loops and great melodies. Reminds me a little of Sandman and MFG... I think.
Guest asdf
cool! why isnt this reviewed???!?
Guest Cujo
did you ever think of that it was Sandman and MFG who sounded like elyzium?
Guest Elysium Project
Hi StoNeY. The album is a special isralie version (on BNE) with tracks released from various releases on Nova Zembla Records. The style is ethnic progressive goa and tribal morning music! (I guess :-)) It's not my first album. My first one is: "Dance For The Celestial Beings" released on Nova Zembla in 1994. hope you won't be dissapointed! :-) To Raider...... My old music was made and released before Sandman and MFG released their music. Remember that Sandman first release "Witchcraft" was in 1998 on Matsuri before that he had been releasing with Rami Shapiro (Shakra) as Witchcraft and up till 1996 he was also playing with a metal band. MFG also came later with their first album release "The Prophecy" in 1996. So I would not say that my music is a rip off from them!

Guest Raider
Hi Elysium Project, Never said it was a rip-off, just that it sounds like the same... never dated any of the styles, just used the two other artists to describe the style. Which bands have inspired you while making Monzoon?
Guest Elysium Project
Hi raider :-) Well the track Monzoon itself was inspired not by any bands but by the strong asian monsoon winds that occured that year in Asia. The Master Of The Rainforest "Electric Nature Remix" was inspired by a program I watched on the TV about pygmees in the african rainforest. The rest of the tracks (from "Dance For The Celestial Beings" CD and the debut single "Project One") was inspired by different minority cultures and situations like the war in Boania/Hertzegovina ("Illusive World"). Guest Elysium Project
By the way it has to be mentioned that I did the tracks (Monzoon and the Master Of The Rainforest Remix) together with the Danish / Italian band Anaesthesia and a danish the danish legendary ex- DJ "Halib". Somehow the label (both Nova Zembla and BNE) forgot to credit them on the CD.
Guest mE 1
i like your source of inspiration Elysium... i must say i've not heard too many of your tracks.. but the ... one I have "Trancelestial Psychobabas" think is pretty nice. perhaps now i'll try and check out the rest of your museic! Guest Elysium Project
To mE 1: Trancelestial Psychobabas is very very different from all my other Elysium stuff. This is one of the few fast tracks I have done as Elysium all the rest is much slower ethnic tribal morning music. If you liked that track you should check out my other projects such as Sheyba (me and Jean Borelli / Orion)"Trance Africa Express" on the "First Flight compilation on Flying Rhino and Kaaya (me and Paul Jackson / Juno Reactor/ Voodoo People) "Ormazd" and "Braindance" Maxi Single released on Dragonfly. Guest Inu
Kristian, if you don't mind my asking, what equipment did you use back then (95-96) on your tracks? My favorites are "Keep It Cool" and "The Source (Elysium Remix)", btw.
Guest Elysium Project
wow let me think Inu :-) I used a very basic setup. Actually instead of a Atari with Cubase 3.0 (the standard computer and software at that time) I used a AKAI 99 midi track sequencer for the debut album + following equipment Sampler: Emax II Synths: Roland Jupiter 8 (with build in midi in and out), Roland JD-800 and Roland Juno 106. Mixer: Alesis 16 channels (low budget mixer but worked ok after intense engineering). Monitors: Yamaha (something). Hardware effects: Yamaha (something - made cool delays). and a old Sony stationary DAT. For the Orion Remix "the Source" I worked in Mino's studio.....(much better setup and 4 years later :-)
Guest asdf
Did you improve a lot since your album monzoon??
Guest Elysium Project
????? asdf What do you mean by improve? If you are thinking about studio gear then yes deffinently and if you are thinking about the music and production then yes again! Check out the album "Celestial Sounds And Tribal Beats" released on BNE and my upcomming album (March) "regenerated" on Avatar.
Guest Inu
Whoa! Sounds like you squeezed the most out of your equipment. I'm a little curious about your sampling process, though: Did they have sample CD's at that time, or did you get all your drum sounds off of other records? (my last technical question, I swear)
Guest Elysium Project
No problemo Inu :-) Actually I do think that some sample CD's were sold at that time... However I mostly used samples sampled from movies (I am not talking about words here but soundeffects ect.) and samples from nature programs ect. I also used samples from non-sample CD's that I found in newage shops ect.. They still have great CD's with sounds from nature (like wolf's ect.) and CD's with pygmees using waterdrums, monks, sounds recorded in space ect. ect. My drums were mainly used from a drummodule that I unfortinently do not remember the name of anymore :-( My kik was done by sampling my finger tapping on the Bass cabinet of the studio monitor's..... that's all :-)
