Guest kenny
all i here on this site and everywhere else in the trance scene when Flying Rhino is mentioned is sounds of derision. WHY!!?!!?!?!?!?! They brought us some of the best trance there has ever been, and in my opinion have continued to do so. just because they decided to release some other styles of music, doesn't mean they're crap, it just means they're getting into different styles, and perhaps want to make money (which is something highly credible if you think of all the good they've done for the scene....why not make a bit of money so they can continue to do so?!!). friends of mine who have until recently have refused to listen to rhino stuff because of such bad press have now been astounded and schocked at what they've been missing these last few years. Planet Ben!!!! probably the best album i've bought in a very long time. all the flight compilations have killer tunes from some of the scenes finest acts. James Monro is probably the best dj out there. and so please people, listen to their music, and then decide whether you like them (admittedly, i think their stuff is very subtle, and so takes a lot of time to get into, but when you do.....it's awesome!) Guest MK
no doubt Flying Rhino have been releasing great material for a number of years. I dont know who's been knocking the Rhino, but it doesnt suprise me - there are many who like to put things down because they do not understand it. Guest mike d
Flying Rhino has been really good, but they have become quite open to the club scene, and have not really kept with the true goa spirit. I have heaps of their cd's and enjoy them alot. I like their old stuff, but the new stuff doesn't do it for me. I am glad that as a label they are doing very well, and if money is what they are lookng for and fam, then best of luck to them. Guest Ikanfrokenheimer
Flying Rhino?! Aren't they the label that supports both organized fascism and the Al Queada terrorist network?! With the owner who ate his first born child in a moment of "dissillusion"?! Who's been talking bad about them?! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! STOP SLANDERING FLYING RHINO!!! Basilisk
bah, listen to what cass says. its ok to move on and try new things but don't bite the hand that feeds you.
Guest Stormbringer
Both Rhino and Dragonfly used to be two very good labels but I don´t like them anymore. The old stuff is still good but I can´t think of any single release from this year that I really like. The Planet Ben album was ok but not much more. It´s sad that we´ve lost two great labels but I´m sure that a lot of people really like the new direction of those labels. The messages above are proof of that. I´ll just spend my money on something else just as dieznyik says ;-) I´m afraid Atomic will be lost too. The last couple of releases = crap! Atomic used to be my favourite label but now I´ve removed it from top 5.
Guest buhara
Kenny, you are not the only one who is wondering why it seems that everyone has turned against the rhinos and dragonfly....."they are not true to the goa spirit" blah blah...it is always easier for ppl to say bad things than good things....don't pay attention and trust your own judgement....in this case, my opinion overlaps with yours...that is to say, my post is almost useless, as it doesn't say anything that you didn't say....but it is not totally useless as it shows that there are other ppl like you who value the rhinos....so...i guess it is some "moral support"....that is also for the ones out there who make a statistics of things and opinions or whatever.... anywayz... Guest mE
LOL. To slate in the Flying Rhino's presence is to bring ill fortune for you and your family! If one continues his criminal slating(?) ways.... eh.. your ROOF will cave in!!!.. er or... your slated walls will COLLAPSE!!! The Heroic Flying Rhino of the Skies shall decend upon it, and though It!! Displying wreckage upon your decent slate!!!
Guest kenny
when Cass slagged off the psytrance scene, it was after he had left the rhinos to set up fire records, his house/progressive label. i still think they're the best label out there, and they are trying to spread this music to a wider audience, which can only be a good thing
Guest KS
Kenny freedom of speech is a constitutional right in most cultures... so if people slate the rhinos, there is nothing you can do about it...... personally i think flying rhino has gone way down in quality... out of the 5 or 6 releases this year, i only liked something for the weekend and Planet BEN,,, the flights are decent, but compared to last yeas flights, they are way low on quality.... the fact that they are commercial is obvious, with the Atmos : overlap (ep disguised as an album)... so its not like i have a personal vendetta against them or something. i just reflect objectively on what i hear, so right now fr, dragonfly etc. are not releasing quality music... when they do, i will praise them. i can't chage my opinion on what i hear, just like some people like repetitve minimal. Now just because i don't like it, does not mean that i will impose my views on others...... man at the end of the day live and let live.. or in this case reflect and let others reflect.. anyway don't take this personally.. its good to hear some people like flying rhino sounds like i used to a couple of years back.. a good release from them will get an appropriate response from me... thanks and peace. Basilisk
the basic point is that these labels have gone from releasing all quality music to releasing a LOT of music with only a few gems hidden in the mush. what is wrong with them? it seems the creativity has been sapped out of some of them... for example check out the new cydonia tune: BASS MONSTER... its an ok track but when you break it down it is just a simple beat with samples from old material!! even the bass line is ripped off! so what gives? dragonfly and atomic still have some good stuff... i like a bit of the new dragonfly progressive like the prometheus/saikopod EP, 12 moons with northern star, etc... but flying rhino i just cant get into at all any more. why is it that when labels try new things everyone goes with them? why aren't they releasing some good goa alongside the techno stuff? thats the real thing i want to know... but anyhow, it is surely wise advice to simply 'buy elsewhere' and thats what i will be doing if these people continue to follow trends instead of setting them. soem aeld
Flying Rhino Freestyle is really good! Carribean Eclipse beats is up there with most of chill-out CDs I've ever heard!
