Guest Mark
Very Emotional movie, it is a powerfull film to the point that some of my friends refuse to even watch it again. I liked Pi alot too, although this one is more powerfull.

Guest eris
try reading the book [by hubert selby jr-who also wrote 'last exit to brooklyn'-if you want a powerful experience about a very grim/hopeless subject
Guest electric!sheep
I'd have to disagree. Requiem for a Dream tried to lump smoking pot together with using physically addictive substances, which is obviously absurd. Otherwise, it was a good movie for its genre. Incidentally, PI is the most over-rated movie of all time (well, maybe second to The Matrix). #1. It has nothing to do with math. #2. Hasids/Orthodox Jews are not crazy. I suppose that since Aronofsky (sp?) is a Jew himself, he can stereotype and slander them, though...
Guest snusnu
ahem... "It has nothing to do with math"... in fact it had a LOT to do with a very new branch of studies called "econophysics". And, if you do a bit of research you'll see that basically all physics theories are math put into practice... "Hasids/Orthodox Jews are not crazy"... who said they where?? You're missing the point here... there is a branch of jews that study the Thora in numbers called cabbalists!! And, even though the idea of mythical texts containing secret formulas communicated by a higher intelligence MIGHT seem crazy by today's standards, thousands of very serious men and women spent their lives seeking truth to this, and some have succeded!! So I don't see why you consider this as crazy... SMI²LE
Guest electric!sheep
Let me take your points in reverse order. The Kabbalists were almost campy; their fanaticism did not quite work when considered in a modern NYC context. Of course, you could say they was the guy's paranoid hallucination, but that still doesn't stop me from LMAO'ing through the whole scene. Your intellectual credibility drops to 0 when you wrote: "LOT to do with a very new branch of studies called 'econophysics'." Anyone with the slightest understanding of math knows that a person drawing spirals on the pages of the New York Times will produce very little valuable information (except for their shrink). Math is based on regularity, and something tells me that the variations in the printing of the NYT are not particularly regular, nor do they have anything to do with the functioning of the stock market. The calculation of certain numbers causing consciousness of a computer...mmmkay. Need I go on?
Guest electric!sheep
Arg...sorry about making a mean jab at your intellectual credibility, but silliness really gets under my skin sometimes.
Guest vasyachkin
what's strange about that movie is that there are so many "big" mass-market actors in it, yet the plot is that of underground or independent film.
Guest unit
I agree, very nice movie indeed!
