Guest Protex Midget
In the early years of psytrance, there were quite a large number of british psytrance artists: Simon Posford, MWNN, Doof, Tristan, Cydonia, Chi-Ad, Quirk (Mark Allen), Joti Sidhu, Cosmosis, Deviant Electronics, and i'm probably forgetting some... Anyway, the third millenium is turning out to be Scando-Lenium (which is a good thing IMO, cause they know how to make good music, especially in Denmark ). But where have all the british artists disappeared? Is psytrance in the UK dead? just wondering...

Guest snusnu
Hmm... let's see now: Doof - It's About Time (2000) Shpongle (aka Simon P + Raja Ram) - Tales of the Inexpressible (2001) MWNN - Teleportation (2000) Chi-AD - Infinitism (2001) Cosmosis - Intergalactic (2000) Deviant Electronics - Blunt Instruments (2000) ... and virtually all the others had an album released in 1999 ie. just a year before the new millenium... so IMO, brits are still alive and kicking!! Hey, 02 barely started, I'm sure we'll have some stompers from them in a few months 8-D SMI²LE
bomble
I don't really know what you mean - as far as I can see most of the artists in Britain who made psy in the past are still at it, and new ones just keep joining in. I think the scando-thing is mainly a result of the expanding scando scene - the British scene hasn't vanished it's just that another is more prolific. bomble
Guest Protex Midget
yeah, but even if the older artits are still producing psytrance, i feel that their are no new artists from the UK who are entering the scene, so in fact, british psytrance is stuck in the same place it was 3-4 years ago... Guest dam10n
don't forget aphid moon who's new 12" i'm listening to right now -- classy. also chris organic and the organic records crew, doing new stuff with a crossover vibe but still very pleasant. and nobody mentioned tristan and manmademan with a new album out later this year I think the UK scene is pretty good..? Guest Zero the Hero
no new british artist ? At least there is one... check out Paraphernalien (Dark Nebula & Paraphernalien - Generator X on Digital Psionics). He's from Wales....
bomble
I think there are quite a lot of people entering the scene - they just have trouble releasing stuff in Britain as most of the labels are long standing, well established and somewhat on the cliquey side. I have a couple of friends who are producing wild stuff and just trying to find the labels who will release it. bomble

Guest AMP
Indeed I dont believe the British artists are gone from trance, even some great new ones are showing up, one thing I agree that is missing in the psy trance scene is more parties. There are few parties, and most of them are small ones. Plur
