Guest The Brain
I cant understand why people choose the word Cheesy instead of Uplifting....or Melodic. Cheesy sounds very bad , it doesnt define music, it is non-sense... -Stay Psychedelic-
Guest dj alexandar
I can't understand why the name matters? If you wish call it Melodic, Cheesy, whatever you want. As long as it's good to listen it...it's Good and one more thing. Somebody often will put or replay a post... XX DJ is a psyGod. What is that for? Only to show that there are djs unknown for someone? I like many bands/artists/djs...i can't say this is psy/xx God. I like someone most, someone least. The taste it's a matter that you can't discuss for. Guest yiannis
what ever you call it ,cheesy or uplifting it sucks... yianis,Macedonia(Greece)
Guest ~Jonezz~
Here in finland we call it "kiksu" or "kikkelitrance" which defines that music so well.. it´s like "kikkeliheavy" -> yngwie malmsteen, stratovarius, iron maiden.. get it..?
Guest Brain
So what are u trying to say Jonezz? ,...... Uplifting Trance = Kikkelitrance = KikkeliHeavy = stratosvarius... = Heavy Metal So Uplifting Trance = Heavy Metal ???? Thats Insane! Anyway all i wanna say by my post is that 'cheesy' a very false definition for Uplifting trance and sounds very baaaad..... (think? cheeseeee!) nothing to do with the music... -stay psychedelic-
Guest dj alexandar
Greetingz...the name has no meaning if the true is the the music is good. If your name is ...hrm....Josef (example), than somebody can call you Peter, but you're Josef. And that's true, you exist. Same with the name of my country A bit philosophical but...love you yianis. Guest oa
Cheezy doesnt mean melodic or uplifting - Cheezy means 'corny' 'horibly predicatable' 'bad' ect. Like "Armageddon" is a cheezy movie.
Guest Setsuko
i agree with oa , cheezy is predictable ... just imagine those silly drumpercussions that goes faster towards the ecstacy and then fffffffffffffffflash... that's cheezy , you can hear all that crap evey single weekend at a commercial dance club... enjoy i would say. Guest lkdt
actually uplifting trance is not so far from heavymetal like stratovarius
Guest Mindbender
I think the word cheesy is very misused among psy people. Ofcourse, the answer to what is cheese is different for everyone. But, all the same cheesy stuff to me is like Britney Spears (well, that is super-cheesy). There is very little psy that is cheesy. What Jonezz called 'kikkelitrance' refers to club trance, not psy. That's just people in Finland call club trance (weenertrance or dicktrance... even people liking it call it that!) That is cheesy. But psy... only exceptionally. Predictable, yes, often, but that is not the same as cheesy. I think the best example of cheesy psy is OOK (Omituisten Otusten Kerho). Oh, and Yahel and Astral and stuff like that are slightly cheesy often... Lauri Cheesy = a combiantion of lame, superficial, easy (listening), kitch, predictability (yes, but not only), corny, happy, clear, mainstream and a lot of words I cannot come up with now. If cheese would only be about predictability, I think minimal would be the cheesiest style of psy... I don't think anyone agrees with that. Guest psywarrior
No, I don't agree that minimal is predictable. I think it just depends on the artist and the song. Anyway I think the way alot of people use the word cheesy doesn't make sense. Because if you mean predictable just say predictable. If you mean corny or bad, then just use those words. The term cheesy isn't very clear so I don't really use it in describing music. I mean you have alot of people using the term cheesy for something that sounds uplifting or happy and until you figure out what they mean by that, you are confused. I just think that the word has no real meaning except to the person using it. But the purpose of language is communication and so if a word is vague I don't believe it is a good idea to use it if your purpose is to communicate. Better to stick to words that there is some agreement on.
Guest PSYN
Happy Hardcore= cheese. often called cheesecore by the fans. happy, corny, silly, simple, yet enjoyable to many. cheese to me is the definition of fun stupid rave your ass off music
Guest bugbread
I think most people who criticize stuff with "cheesy" here are referring to the corniness of the track. After all, GMS is predictable, but no one calls it cheesy. And I think a lot of people agree, Holy Men is just about the king of cheesy. Some Texas Faggott songs are cheesy and yet not predictable (the ones that sound like they have aerobics music in them). And if you consider that a song can be made cheesy through bad samples, (which aren't predictable), I think cheese all comes down to corniness. And you know what? I like corny sometimes. I like to laugh while dancing. So for me, reading "cheesy" is not necessarily a danger sign, just a "caution - proceed carefully".
Guest helium
I call "cheesy" to mean "corny" or outright "un-hip" or whatever you'd call that. Infected Mushroom "The Gathering" is what I would call the "cheesiest" album I ever heard, for example....
Guest dj alexandar
Who said that the melodic trance is not far away from the heavy metal? Heavy metal sux...melodic is good. Two difirent types of music... Aleksandar, Macedonia

Guest dj alexandar
It's better than any other non-electronic related music, and techno/house like music as electronic related, but there's a better trance to listen to. Psychedelic, i mean that real psy/goa/melodic...I like it lot.
Guest ~Jonezz~
Whatever.. what i meant is that there are same kind of uplifting melodies in some heavymetal and trance.. nothing more common of course..
