If Violet Vision are allowed to be reviewed, what about some of the other downtempo drum n bass out there? I mean christ, it sounds like Nine Inch Nails mixed with LTJ Bukem and Ropni Size with Simon Posford adding a touch here and there! C'mon! What about the Afro Celt Sound Sytem? I reviewd their album and it didn't get put up! Or Deep Forest? Very similar music I think the chill out section should be for all down tempo and chillout music, seeing as Bob Dylan was being played in the chill out tent on New Years Ever at French Island III. I have so many cd's from down temp drum n bass to just oure chilled ethno sounds but they never get reviewed not fair!! Where is the equality here?

i agree

open up a bit

maintain the psy/goa focus but put up reviews for anything... it'll give us all a goa fan's perspective

Well, I would like to review Shamen's "UV", but if everyone put cd's from outside

the goa scene, the reviews would get very crowded... stick to psychedelic trance

albums please.

I've gotta agree. Opening up to any type of music means:

Hundreds more reviews (possibly a good thing)

Billions more arguments about whether something is crap or not (imagine the

chaos if Marilyn Manson or NIN were reviewed!)

Huge hosting bills for Mars and Children, who are paying to have this site exist.

I don't think psy is the only valuable type of music, but I think this site should stay with its roots in the interest of self-preservation.

Let's stick to reviewing psytrance, chill-out and Ambeint. We don't need every style of electronic music to be reviewed here...

Agree somewhat and esp since i don't think the Violet Vision album is that good to begin with! It has it's moments(track 1!) but more often than not is just way too disjointed and badly thrown together sounding... The singing is completely horrible and so much so I couldn't believe they were serious! Sound like bratty little kids and whatnot ;)

I think maybe it got in the psytrance reviews because they are close to/affiliated with other artists in the psytrance scene...

it's on BNE? isn't that a decideing factor? Just sounds like psybreaks to me.... i don't see the diffrence between it and deviant electronics or digitalis... I don't see how this relates to Nine Inch Nails or Maralin Manson either... i'm totally baffled at that one. Where the @!#$ did you come up with that one Mike D? Those guy's are not even electronic... you expect to see Bob Dylan up in the review on a psy/goa review site? I think you might want to take another listen to Violent Vision... It's simply creative psybreaks a little on the commerical side... it sounds like it belongs here hardcore... the sample "we are all children of god" ...."this mushoom is the golden key to the doors of perception... blah blah blah.." the indian insturments.. the goa melodies ...

dude, I Can't see the problem really....(?)

Track 2 is indeed a misrible pile of embarrising garbage and does not belong in this album....... They are just trying to be Broad.... give em a break.... Juno Reactor is the same way.

listen to Juno Reactor : Shango ... this guy doesn't make psy/goa at ALL anymore. Shango isn't one bit psy. not a BIT!!!

Pistolero.... electronic dance music ...

hulelam ... some werid tribal stuff..

insects ... some boring monotonus trance...

bromio ... a dark tribal track...

Masters of the universe .... just some poppy tune...

nitrogen 1 and 2 both just electro ... like "crystal method" ...

solaris and song for ancestors... just organic new age music...

So basicly you'd file it where ever you file Aphex Twin, The Orb, Orbital, etc .... just under electro pop.

I never said there was a roblem... I asked why cannot other electronic downtempo stuff such as Afro Celt Sound System cannot be put up here. Also Nine Inch Nails is very much electronic music, it is Industrial and Goa had a lot of influence from teh industrial scene if you read about it's history. Track to, in Vilet Vision, where it slows down a bit, the sining? Sounds pretty damn close to Trent Reznor of NiN to me! Also, if you listen to most drum n bass, it isn't that much different to violet vision! The only silly difference is the record label, silly because 4 years ago it wouldn't matter what label it was released on, just the style mattered! It really sucks to see this scene become like every other eletroninc scene relying on lables, not artists, very sad indeed!

Mike d what the hell are you talking about, are you saying that someone would buy a cd/vinyl just because of a label! People look labels just because they know what artists published songs for these labels, and if you are pissed off because drum n bass is not reviewed here at all, maybe because this IS a psy/chill site. It is not called PSYnews for nothing. And so what if goa had influence from tech-industrial scene it evolved into its own style. Every kind of music had some influence by some style that came before it. Think clearly. Bom!!

for mike d, violet vision just made me realise that the psy scene can be a little more open and a little more interesting, Be a little open minded, 'cause if we don't the psy scene will be stuck at the same point forever, and will be getting very boaring, and in 2 years there will be 4 visitors a day in sites like this one, because everyone will move on, except from people with orthodox mind that fought to keep the electronic psy scene without any development.

my suggestion for you is to try to be a little more open minded, if some music is not for your taste, you really shouldn't be listening to it, it's your choice, but i think that the reviews here can and should be for the whole range of psy music.
