Mine is Synchro - Elektrik, very nioce album that takes alot of stlyes and flows them together nicely. A bit like Space Cat Vs Psychaos.

Nuclear Hyde - Noomraker. Not psytrance, more like hard trance with dashings of break beat & DnB, but its still a written album for 1998 vintage. Definitley a journey album - must be listened to from start to end

Cheers

it's an old comp from trust in trance called eternal trance. it's from 1998 and full of soft melodic old-school goa. as much as i know it's not even reviewed here, think i will write a review as soon as i have the time for it. it's really a great comp and there is one of the best old tracks on it i have ever heard: datura: yierba del diablo. it's worth buying it just because of this, but the rest is also great.

ubar tmar - true is still one of the most interesting albums i've ever heard .. it's simply unique, impossible to describe so i'll just suggest anyone who hasn't heard it yet and who has an open mind to check it out! you'll either get it and fall in love with it or you won't get it and hate it with a passion ;)

Domino-Mixed cd from 98-released in Japan only but has some of the tastiest trance cuts from that era-old gms/jaia/mammal/technossomy etc. if you have this cd you will know what i am on about.

Although it's mention (almost) as much as it deserves: Order Odonata (the ONE and only) - it's what got me into electronic music in the first place - I remember as was it yesterday... I accidently walked into a store with a big sign that said "Cyberdog"... The rest is history :)

Hey, Soem, if you have probs getting Ubar Tmar, I can pick CDs up at the shop for you. I live in Tokyo, so it's just a matter of going to HMV. I don't know how we could work out payment, though...Any ideas?

Just for reference, he only has 4 CDs out.

Fusion

True

Live

Eigokaiki

The new album should be out soon. Very complex layered polyrhythm, very little melody. Basically, extremely rhythmically comlex minimalism.

Ubar Tmar played live over summer in Australia a few times. I saw him twice and thought it was absolutely shocking. I purchsed his album TRUE when it came out and it was one of my favourite albums back in '98 (?), but his new music is not for my tastebuds - IMO sounds very dated and shallow .

but different strokes for different folks.............

PS. my "little gem" that did not get enough mention = Winter Session (databass)

I have mentioned it many times, but apart from that, not many others did.

I think it depends what you consider his typical new stuff. He made an album last year that says, on the package, that it's for "psychedelic elementary school students". I agree, it sounds dated and plain and I'm not impressed. However, at his live shows he plays stuff from an upcoming album, which will be for "psychedelic upper school students", which is very polyrhythmic, with most structure based on the Golden Mean and the Fibonacci Series. Because many instruments are playing in different time signatures, there is no central "beat", but watching people dance to it in clubs is awesome. For the first ten minutes they shuffle around unsure what to match their body to, but after half an hour, everybody is in their own world, dancing to a rhythm that only they can hear. It's really an awesome sight, and the approach, within psy at least, is very much NOT the mainstream.
