Melodic Morning Trance

Hello To All Of You!

I have a basic question to you: How can it be that the true trance sounds AKA Melodic Trance is no longer heard & even no longer played in parties ?

I consider myself as a true goa spirit, a guy whose been in the scene for a long time now.

I have fallen in love in trance because its melodical eastern elements & because it was something different. Very Powerful,Tribal & Shamanic.

During the years trance has seemed to evolve. Now trance is almost commercial, too progressive & cold. It is not the trance i fell in love with.

There is no sound like the melodic sound.

Now, I am not talking about Nitzhonot! No! I'm talking about acts such as:RA,Dimension 5,Astral Projection,MFG,Old Etnica & many many more.

Trance with no melodies at all is not Trance!

Minimal Trance is maybe 70% Techno & only the left 30% can be considered as Trance!

Wake Up People!

This is your call !

Think of what i just written, Am i right?

:>

Boom Shiva!

Peace!

yeah...you are right...but there is no way back I think....

and I think you can get many melodic tunes these days too....we always have very melodic morning at our parties.....

....but the point about melodic eastern elements is definitely right....hard to find some modern sound with melodic eastern elements :/ ....

Well...those sounds have been explored back in the day..

how do you expect artists to make the same tunes they were making years ago..

as you make more music the style evolves and changes... For example take the group "Shakta"... gradually improving in sound in most his albums...

Old School tracks.. true are very powerful but nowdays we are getting stuff melodic from Israeli artists such as Yahel and Infected Mushroom with melodic bliss with high edge production.. makig the sound very clear compared to before..

as for goa.. I think that genre is not extinct.. if you search hard enough you can get new released goa music... just need to look enough..

if only there were an even MORE psychedelic trance combination of the high quality percussion & rhythm & timing of MINIMAL, with the awesome insane power of high quality MELODIC.......then we would have eveolved into an even more psychedelic realm of trance music :::)

but i think it's very tough to do, coz a lot of the good melodic artists are also very good with the rhythm and percussion, but a combo of "double dragon" and "cosmosis/old shakta style/old pleiadians style" would surely bomb the psyworld!!! :::)

cool vibes

I agree with Jeto.

+ And I want to add....

you said: "Trance with no melodies at all is not Trance!"

Well... think about ancient shamans.......... only instrument they had was some drum. With that they created simple monotous beat and danced themself to trance........ so in a way minimal trance is even more close to true trance music that melodical trance.

I was also attracted into this music because of those eastern elements and powerfull beat............ but I don't want to listen same stuff all my life........... so in my mind minimal trance was fresh change to this scene. Now it seems to go back to melodical direction.

I agree with Jeto...Listen to Infected and then try to tell me with a straight face that melodic is dead.

And regarding shpongled's comment: To be honest, I have ALWAYS found the term trance misleading. Most stuff is WAY too complex to be considered trance oriented, and the stuff that IS trancelike is the minimal stuff. I don't like minimal, per se, but I have to say that it is WAY more conductive to entering a trance mode.

On an off note, if you REALLY want to listen to trance music, listen to Balinese gamelan pieces, especially long pieces, or jegog. Repetetive, polyrhythmic, yet complex, and used traditionally to put people into trances. I would so absolutely love to hear gamelan played at a psy event.

Ahhh... just came from the excellent party where they played minimal, full-on and older melodic stuff blended together... and I must say that it really worked on me!minimal can also be so beautiful, but if there is melodies they are much harder to 'hear' because we have a some kind of idea what melodies should be like and those melodies seldom fit to that definition. in 'melodic' songs you can clearly hear the melodies, they are available to bigger group of people...you don't have to be so concentrated; more people can join the fun!

I think differently about minimal being more conductive to trance states of mind:

From my experience both the rhythmical repetition and the mind grapping melodies are needed to create a natural trance. Of course chemicals might change the situation alltogether.

And hyperactive bright trance like some israeli stuff etc is not good for being in trance, but good for getting into trance.

At least I like being able to burn away all the energy and turn outward first with powerful israeli etc sounds, and after that start to quietly start the trip inward into my own mind, and at this point the more mystical and hypnotic stuff like TIP, Dragonfly etc twisting colourful exciting etc stuff is fine. And in an outdoor party it's also nice to have "the monkey carnival of apocalypse" after that where everthing just starts to glow and the happiest and cheesiest tunes can be played without them sounding cheesy or worn at all :) That's the spirit of morning music in my opinion.

I only like minimal stuff in the beginning of the party to warm up, and maybe some more twisted screechy oinky stuff to stimulate the mind for beginners...

The problem with most minimal trance is that the atmosphere is not organic and down to earth as in older goa, but more abstract, mathematical and colder.
