Guest --==MileS==--
Good to see some fellow Mr.Bungle fans inhere...Nothing to do with psytrance (although their techno/trance piss -Desert Seach For Techno Allah- is hilarious but still an excellent track) but they seem to show up in a wholelotta full-on/minimal discussions... For those interested in some nice crossover of basically everything, including 1000 ways to use a voice, these are their albums: Mr. Bungle Disco Volante California My fav tracks: Chemical Marriage Ma Meeshka Mow-Skwoz Slowly Growing Deaf Caroussel Merry Go Bye Bye Sweet Charity Ars Moriendi Goodbye Sober Day
Guest bugbread
If you have any interest in them, a brief rundown on their albums (wouldn't want you shooting blind). Mr. Bungle (debut album) - Mostly metal, ska, and extremely weird melodies with a distinct "evil circus" feel and lots of samples from movies and video games. Disco Volante - More modern jazz oriented, with one death metal track, one techno piss-take, and lots of unclassifiable music/sounds. California - More pop-like, but in Mr. Bungle's really odd way of doing it. One EXCELLENT track features Balinese kecak set to metal in one section. Generally speaking, they are very challenging, combining ska, jazz, noise, klezmer, electronics, modern classical, metal, pop, and more, but if you like strange music they are excellent. http://www.webofmimicry.com/bungle.htm has some samples on it. Ma Meeshka Mow-Skwoz makes me flip my top.

Guest wow
their side projects are pretty good too.. if you can find any, check out Secret Chiefs 3... very interesting stuff.. lots of middle eastern melodies and old film music tributes and some super hard distorted percussive stuff. Guest bugbread
Secret Chiefs 3 also has some "pure" techno stuff, but it's not all that great. Fantomas, another side band, sounds a lot like the Boredoms would sound now if the members hadn't all gotten into psy-trance.
Guest jakemyth
Also worth noting is Mike Patton's other bands....Fantomas' album The Director's Cut is brilliant with the band doing various movie themes like the godfather, cape fear, twin peaks and more. As well as Tomahawk who's self titled record is great...bit more of a country edge but still extremely Patton. I reckon he makes some of the most psychedelic music around......i will never forget being caned on acid and sitting in a dark room listening to the bends of Disco Volante. New Bungle should b out soon as well another project for Patton but i can't remember the name...i'm sure it will b good as he makes some of the most interesting and challenging music around today. Enjoy jake

Guest bugbread
I THINK the song you're talking about is "The Secret Song", on Disco Volante. It was written completely without telling one of the members, and when he found out, he added vocals in Grampa Simpson's voice saying "I know the secret song now" and "They kicked me out of the band". It's not a separate track on the CD, though, it's stuck to the end of "Carry Stress In The Jaw" (you know, cause it's secret and all) If it's an old guy really just making noises, I dunno. Could be any song, cause every song pretty much has weird noises.
Guest wouter
I'm a big admirer of mr Patton. I have been to a Fantomas concert when they were playing in amsterdam. It was hilarious to see one of my oldheroes Dave Lombardo (former Slayer drumgod) play gently on a tamborine haha. And Mike patton is just awesome to watch. He needs an excorsist 8)
Guest Chong
yeh all bands mentioned above are great - apart from Tomahawk which I found to be a bit commercial for me (like the latter FNM stuff). Carry Stress In The Jaw does not have the "The Secret Song" bit on the Vinyl release, only CD. And I also have a lot of great memories of listening to Disco Volante while doin acid - the music and also the sleevenotes were a real trip - very funny times!
