Guest ether
I dont believe xdream or etnica are selling out! They are evolving!!! I dont think there is anything wrong about making music that appeals to a larger audience instead of a small amount of trancers...as long as your heart is truely into the sound you are creating there is nothing wrong with it. If the new sound is just to make more $, which I dont think etnica or xdream are about, then you suck...but at least you will be rich or better off than you were I myself love playing at mainstream parties!!! Why??? Because Im spreading the psy/goa vibe to newbies, and if you have ever seen psy/goa spun well at a mainstream party those kids go off just as hard, if not harder than psy freaks Am I selling out too since I play at mainstream parties??? Maybe to some, but I dont think so. Most psy organizer that have heard my mix love the cd but they expect me to fly/drive/walk there out of my own pocket, and play for little or nothing. Which would be ok as long as they fly me there and home. This has yet to happen unforunately since an airplane ticket would break their buget. While mainstream promotors fly me and pay me all the time. To me the psy scene is very unproffesional. We are musicians, DJs, or labels...our time is worth money, or should be. I dont believe anyone should work for free outside of their home city. But, you have to keep an eye on that or you will be exploited by cheap promotors, something every aspiring musician or dj has encountered. The scene should find ways of exploiting the mass public, like all other genres do, while keeping it real with the psy community. Twisted has the right idea. More mainstream sounding, but tight fucking production! They make the sales, play mainstream parties, but when booked for psy they fuckin keep it real with the psy sound(or at least I think they do). And there is nothing wrong with that! After all, we all need to eat, have clothes, and a roof over our heads. ether
Guest Flying Kundalini
totally agree ether.. well said.. I love to play a crazy psy set to mainstreamers and watch them go CRAZY.. good feeling..:-)
Otto Matta
Nah, I disagree. I think every genre of music should be so underground that it appeals to only one person at any given time. If a style ever became popular to more than one person, namely two people, then the style should be eliminated so that the more intelligent styles can remain dominant. And that way nobody sells out and everybody's happy. EA

Guest bugbread
That's so true...so true... I made music in a new genre today, but I won't let any of you listen to it, 'cause if you did and you liked it I'd have to burn my tapes.
Guest ether
I think you misunderstood what I wrote... Its not about keeping it underground...@!#$ underground elitist bullshit!!! If I like a style and can make $$$ then I will...if I dont like a style and can make $$$ I wont unless Im starving...I dont think xdream was ever starving hence they're not selling out. I think radio and irritant have more drive and heart then their older albums. Why??? B/c the era we are in is not free love with flowers in my hair. The world is a shittier place then was 10yrs ago and the music reflects that change. Maybe if I were listening to all the albums 5yrs ago I would enjoy older xdream more, not only when driving home from a party(as is the case now). Even the full on stuff has gotten darker and harder than it was back then...its an evolution which happens to appeal to more people than it did before Minimal and new full on will take over the dance scene...a boy can dream cant he? Otto Matta
ether - I didn't misunderstand what you wrote. I agreed with it to myself. I was just trying to be funny and satirical in my post to further your point.
