Guest Protex Midget
It seems that Belgium has a wonderful psytrance scene: Allot of Goa-headz (escpecially in this forum), and allot of parties... But, where are the belgium artists? I can hardley think of any Belgian psy releases...
Guest Max
you can do it.
Guest phaeton
i don't think there are many belgian psy releases indeed, but i have to say that i was pleasantly surprised with the belgian live acts at last year's senseblender festival ... seems like there's quite some talented artists over there, but we'll just have to wait for the releases ... =)
Guest Protex Midget
but i'm not from beligium...
Guest Protex Midget
Pheaton> There is some act which i believe was at senseblender called Munchy... what's up with them (or him)?
Anoebis
Aha... Good questions, and you are right!! Goa-Trance as well as Psy-tekk are floroushing here and they have formed 2 completely different but great scenes!! We do have some bands that make music, but only 1 of them has released anything so far and that is Concentrix!! They released a Single about a year ago with 2 Israeli-trance influenced songs... But the label Senseblender will release many stuff in the future!! (altough the releases seem to have some delay...) Goa/Psy-Trance: Munchy (véry powerful with guitars etc) Ebolah (More experimental with Sax etc) Concentrix (A year ago more melodic, now more Psy-trance) Smoozz (not from the Sensblender label but GREAT stuff, Tim Schuldt style) Psy-Tekk Sanka (no comment, not my cup of tea) Chill Out Jovic Storor And that's all where I can think of right now!! ;-)) Bom Shankar! Anoebis Ps: Maybe one of the reasons why there is no Trance from Belgium is because most artists are still make melodic stuff, and there are only véry few labels interested in that... Guest KaShRuM
Don't forget that belgium has invented the trancecore style (tell me if i'm wrong), and i used to play a lot of that style before, i heard too that a part of psynews is based there, i know from roopak ur doing the psynews party in june how is it going to be? Guest StoNeY!
I'm not sure, so tell me if I'm wrong, but I think a lot of the electronic music today has it's roots in Belgium. Like new beat and stuff... but I'm not an expert. Anyone can enlighten this to us?
Guest Elysium Project
Well do I need to say more than mention these 2 labels? The are among the true pioneers in the electronic music world. Antler Subway (industrial / hardcore / electronic Body Music / Big Beat, electronic body music) Some of the many artists: Loards Of Acid, Black Uhuru, D.Sign, The Overlords (Sundown), The Beautifull Babies, Milk Incorporated, A Split Second R&S Records (many different genres such as Big Beat, ambient, elctro, industrial, trance ect.) Artists: Aphex Twin with the legendary song "Analog bubblebath", Robert Leiner (The Source / Source Experience), Jam and Spoon, Ramirez, Ken Ishi ect. And of course there is Front 242 :-)) Sorry if it's nothing to do with psytrance but those labels and (some) of the artists artists are indeed some of belgium's finest and in my mind both the labels and bands ihave had a big influence on the music that we hear today. Guest Soulhunter
Elysium, I'm impressed :-) Just wanted to add that Aphex Twin had more releases on R&S (together with Apollo rec.)....Selected Ambient Works 85-92 & Classics. It's quite strange that there are only a few psytrance producers in Belgium. C'mon Belgium, wake up :-)
Guest Elysium Project
I too had a release (1994) on R&S's sublabel "Labyrint" with my long gone project "Tundra" :-)) I also like to mention C.J. Boland. His relases on R&S was excelent!
