Why not re-release some albums

It seems there are some albums/comps that everybody seems to want yet nobody can get. Examples: Search for the Yeti part 1, Alien Protein, Violent Relaxation. If so many people want these albums wouldn't it be in the labels' interests to re-release them. They would probably sell as well as they did when they were originaly released. Anyway I hope these albums are rereleased for all of us that did not get them when they were first released.

And how many people would actually buy such re-releases?

I seriously doubt that it's more than max. 500-1000. But of course I could be wrong.

A label need to make money to survive (most of their money in the bank are bound to pay of artist royalties and other debts) and since more and more people mostly buy compilations these days (unfortinently) and seem to buy less and less artist albums they need/choose to concentrate on the money strong releases. Yes there have been some few re-releases but they did not at all sell well compared to new releases. I will re-release my old music soon but I seriously doubt I will make any money...At the best I will break-even.

You are probably right Elysium Project. Even though they seem in high demand, they probably wouldn't sell as good as some of the newer releases. Its too bad though for the people looking to get their hands on them. I just want to buy the albums I want and not just whatever is the newest. Good music, as it has often been said, is timeless.

Yes it would be great if such important classics could get a new light also for new goatrance fans. I'm pretty sure someone will do that !

p.s. = I'll buy for sure the Elysium Project old music !

totally agree kristian !

we are getting our first compilation togethor after a 12" release and the money side is a real problem - we are definately not going to make any money (well i suppose there is a slim chance:) its probably more of a question of how much we will lose:)

by the way kristian - its almost all there and i haven't forgot but there will be a couple of promos on there way to you very soon!

i disagree, i think there are many albums that would sell well if rereleased. MOTY 1 and Alien Protein are perfect examples.

If you don't believe me, check the charts over at psyshop.com

perhaps you will notice the number 1 LP is a repressing of The Gathering...

food for thought

I must say that I think only a few hardcore fans would bother buying the re-eleases. I know I wish there were many cd's still avilable, but no luck :-( A lot of people are getting so into or used to the new stuff that the old is dying. I have always wondered what the reaction would be if a dj got up at a party and started playing tracks from '93-'97??? I think the crowd would be mighty annoyed! I know though that I would be trancing hard core!
